10. Erik
Chapter 10
Erik
I find myself watching Lissy as she sits, lost in thought. The storm has finally cleared, leaving a breathtaking blanket of snow in its wake. I take a deep breath, the scent of pine and fresh snow filling the air. “We need to talk,” I say, my voice firmer than I feel. She turns, her expression a mix of surprise and something else, something hopeful.
We sit facing each other, the distance of the room feeling like miles. “I can’t stop thinking about you,” I confess, my heart pounding in my chest. She bites her lip, her eyes searching mine. The silence stretches, filled with unspoken questions and the soft crackling of the fire.
Finally, she speaks. “I feel the same,” she whispers, her voice barely audible. Relief floods through me, mixing with a growing sense of excitement. We move closer, the space between us disappearing, as we embrace the truth of our feelings.
I feel a sense of urgency, a need to express what's been growing inside me. "I've never met anyone like you, Lissy," I say, the words coming out more heartfelt than I intend. She looks up, a softness in her eyes that I haven't seen before. "Erik, this...us...it was unexpected," she admits, her voice tinged with a vulnerability that makes my heart skip a beat.
The future looming ahead of us like an uncharted path. The warmth of the cabin seems to envelop us, creating a safe space for our confessions.
"I don't know what happens when we leave here," she says, her gaze steady on mine. "But I do know that I don't want this to end."
Her words resonate within me, echoing my own thoughts. The fire crackles in the background, a testament to the warmth and light we've found in each other amidst the storm.
The moment feels suspended in time, a turning point in both our lives. Slowly, I reach out, taking her hand in mine. The contact sends a jolt of electricity through me, a connection that feels both new and as old as time.
We lean in, the gap closing as we share a kiss, tentative at first, but quickly deepening.
