Chapter 27
RILEY
T he fog swallowed us, plunging us into a pitch blackness.
Crap.
Drake screamed, the sound turning my blood to ice.
I called his name, stumbling through the dark, the temperature dropping.
He continued to scream.
Oh my goodness! “Where are you?” I slipped, landing hard on my back. The snow cushioned my fall, sparing my head from a nasty crack.
His screams tore through the dark, so close yet so far away.
“Drake!”
I crawled in the direction of his voice, only to be stopped by something solid. Something breathing.
Lifting my head, I met the crimson stare of the shade that’d attacked me six months ago.
