CHAPTER 11 #3
“No point,” he sighed sadly. “Unless you have a magic green thumb.”
“Well, now that you mention it...” I began as I stepped over to the small kitchen sink.
Grabbing a cup, I ran the tap for some water and maneuvered back to the collection of sad plants, each in varying stages of death.
He even had a particularly large Venus Flytrap.
I aimed for that one first and poured a little water over the wilted, bristled heads.
I thought the spell in my mind and watched as the stems rose back to life, the plant’s bristles lazily opening and closing as if waking from a long slumber.
“You seem like a plant guy.” I winked. “Let’s take them; I can fix the rest once we get back. I know the perfect spot you can set them all up for the best sunlight.” Then, thinking that maybe that comment was being far too presumptuous, I added, “Ya know, for now.”
Cam’s joy was overflowing and before I knew it, I was being swept up into his arms. The breath was pushed from my lungs with an “Oof!” as he lifted me from the ground and spun us in circles.
Once I was thoroughly dizzy, he set me down and gave my cheek a lingering kiss, his arms still wrapped around my waist.
With that, we made quick work of gathering up the plants to deposit them into my car.
We were unusually quiet as we did so. Despite the reaction I had just received from Cam, my insecurities began taking root.
I couldn’t tell what was going through Cam’s head, but I couldn’t stop thinking that maybe Cam didn’t want to stay with me.
That was, at my house. Yeah, we obviously liked each other; our chemistry was insane.
Emotionally, physically, in every way we were perfect for each other.
I could only hope that he felt the same way.
But that still didn’t mean he would be interested in living with me while we began dating.
Even under the loose pretense of being “roommates.”
I suddenly felt the need to fill the silence between us and clear any possible misunderstandings, like that I didn’t want him to live with me, which I absolutely did.
Once everything had been loaded up, my backseat and trunk were full but not as stuffed as a person moving out of an apartment should have made it, I told him,
“Eventually we can get you your own place. Once we figure out what to do about getting you a new identity.” Because that was a whole other problem.
“But you know...” I cleared my throat, “I do have the spare room and, well, the idea of having a roommate isn’t so bad.
” His eyes widened as he listened to my clumsy offer.
“I mean, you don’t have to live with me if you don’t want to.
But you can stay as long as you need to.
I like you being there with me and the ghost even likes you and Jinx does too and-”
Cam’s lips on mine shut up my nervous ramblings. He kissed me deeply, thoroughly, and far too obscenely for being out in the open. His tongue wound with mine in its lazily exploration of my mouth. When he sucked my tongue behind his lips, I released a soft gasp that he greedily swallowed.
He pulled back enough to gaze down at me, but I was still clutching the front of his shirt with slightly trembling fingers. I wasn’t quite ready to let go, so I didn’t. And he didn’t move away either. His warm palm caressed my cheek, and I nuzzled into his gentle touch.
“Are you sure about that?” he asked before adding, “Because I like being there with you too. Ghost and all.”
I huffed a laugh, “You two will become best friends, I’m sure. As long as she doesn’t peep on us having sex, I won’t have to exorcise her.”
His brows rose before he leaned down into my space. “Oh yeah? Do you think about us having sex a lot, Victor?”
Feeling emboldened, I slid my hands into the back pockets of his jeans. Giving his firm ass a tight squeeze, I hummed,
“Yeah. I do. Especially after last night.” I grinned wickedly. “But I think I’ll need to start working out to keep up with you for the real deal if this morning was any indication.”
Cam’s low chuckle sounded through me, blue eyes growing heavy with lust.
“Oh, yeah?” he teased, lips hovering over mine. “You think you’ll be able to keep up with me?”
“Won’t know until we try,” I purred, a salacious smirk playing on my lips.
The kiss he planted on me was far sweeter than any before it. With his hands cupping my jaw, he tilted my head back so that I was entirely under his control.
“So, you want me to stay with you Victor?” he asked softly against me, my lips feeling every word of his question intimately. A question that had double meaning. I knew he was well aware of it with the way his eyes were practically twinkling. So, I simply gave him one word to answer both,
“Yes.”
After leaving the motel-style apartment complex behind us, we headed for home. Home. Our home. Cam’s too now. My heart was still beating far too fast and hard even after driving for nearly twenty minutes. I couldn’t tell if it was nervous excitement or utter happiness making me so jittery.
“So, what do you have planned for us next?” Cam asked me as a quieter song came on the radio. I was stopped at a light, so I turned to blink dumbly at him for a second.
“What do you mean?”
“Our next date,” he said as he cradled the Venous Flytrap I had revived in his lap. Its bristled heads were still swaying about, slithering like little snakes and I briefly wondered if I’d accidently gave it too much magic. The last thing we needed was a sentient carnivorous plant.
I gripped the steering wheel tight as his question registered. Had he found my journal and plans to woo him? I sure hoped not because that... that would be mortifying.
“Uh, what makes you say that?” I replied. My voice was a little unsteady, and was that a pre-pubescent squeak that just came out of me?
“Well, now that we’re officially dating, we should go on our first real date. Don’t you think?”
He glanced to me with questions in his eyes, brows slightly drawn and seeming somewhat unsure. I gave him a broad grin in answer and both of our bodies relaxed.
“Officially dating,” I echoed, still smiling like a loon.
My eyes fell to his mouth as I stared. I wanted to kiss him again. I wanted to kiss him all the time. Hell, even if he found my journal, whatever I was doing seemed to be working like a charm. But maybe it was Cam working his charms on me. Either way, I had absolutely no objections.
“The uh, the light’s green, Victor,” Cam said and his lips twitched with pleased amusement. I shook my head clear as I turned down the street toward my house.
No, not just mine anymore. Our house.
And boy did I like the sound of that.
***
My two weeks off passed by unfairly quickly, and before I knew it, I had to return to work. I had bills to pay and happened to like my job, even when all I wanted was to spend every moment I had – waking and asleep – with Cam. And over the remaining days I learned a lot about Cam.
He loved board games. Any and all kinds, which I found immensely wonderful because I did too. But I’d never really had anyone to play them with. I was able to put my stash of games to good use every evening with him.
Despite the glaring sexual tension between us, and our near constant teasing remarks to each other, we didn’t go further than doing anything beyond what we’d already previously done.
But I did count our relentless flirting as a form of foreplay, though, so there was that.
I’d lost track of how many times we’d jerked each other off.
We had taken turns sucking each other off and the first time I took his dick into my mouth, I had to be honest...
it’d been a struggle. His cock was just so...
big. I’d had to use both my hands and mouth just to take him all in and even then, I’d still been pushed to my dick-sucking limits.
But daddy didn’t raise no quitter, and I had been determined as hell to deep throat him. Which I had done. Twice.
He'd loved it.
Seeing Cam fall apart in my hands, within my mouth, tasting him, was pure ecstasy. But he seemed to take great pleasure in making me cum more than being on the receiving end.
He had used another one of my toys on me just last night – he'd generously let me choose – and my ass was still tingling from how long he’d kept me going.
One more thing I had learned about Cam: he was an animal.
And we hadn’t even gone all the way yet.
Not that I didn’t think about it an unhealthy amount every single day. I wasn’t exactly sure what we were waiting for, but both of us were simply tiptoeing the line, dancing with each other, seeing just how far we could go before the other would take the final step.
Neither of us did, though. And the angst was both a sweet torture and the most painful pleasure. Like reading a book where the characters verbally edged each other for three hundred pages before they actually fucked.
But those were my favorite kinds of stories. I couldn’t help it; I was a bit of an emotional masochist.
Cam baked for me every day. And I wasn’t just saying it when I said he was damn good at it. Professional grade even. With those skills of his, I didn’t see how he would have any trouble opening up his own bakery and it being a success.
Each night before bed, we curled up together for a movie.
He liked scary movies but preferred romances, and he was a sucker for anything animated.
He loved fantasy books and reading manga, especially anything boy’s love.
“BL” and “Yaoi” he called it. After introducing me, it was quickly becoming my new favorite genre.
Surprisingly, Cam was also a blanket hog.
Even with his own room, he still preferred to sleep in bed with me.
I had no objections and slept so soundly in his arms tucked against his big, warm body.
But I had taken to keeping two blankets on the bed for when he inevitably stole mine and burritoed himself up like an adorable, giant caterpillar.
