Chapter 32 #3
“Oh, God. What the hell are you doing here?”
“I work here,” Carissa hissed, her sweet tone suddenly filled with venom.
Wyatt tightened his hold on me as I tried to climb over him.
How dare she speak to my fucking Link that way?!
“What the hell are you wearing?” Rafe drawled, clearly riling her up. “Where’s Coach? I’d like to make a complaint about a staff member.”
“I didn’t do anything!” Carissa spat as Wyatt practically shoved me inside his office.
The door slammed behind me, and I whirled around to face Aiden and Wyatt, side by side in front of the door.
“Are you kidding me?” I practically snarled. “What was that?!”
“She’s a bitch, Skye, she’s trying to get in your head.” Wyatt said.
“And what are you doing?!” I snapped. “First you shush me, now–”
“You’re kidding. You’re mad I shushed you?” Wyatt looked bewildered.
Rafe stepped out of a shadow in the corner of the room.
“Perfect. I leave you all alone for thirty seconds and you’ve managed to enrage her,” Rafe growled.
Wyatt stormed past me, moving to sit in his office chair.
A shadow swiped at my shoulder, knocking some dirt onto the ground.
Aiden moved in close to me, watching my face before kissing me.
Rafe eventually moved to the couch, waving for me to sit beside him. Aiden flopped down on my other side, and my cheeks heated as both men touched me in some way, Aiden running his hands up and down my arm while Rafe looked for twigs and grass in my hair.
“Jesus fuck, Rafe.” Wyatt snapped finally.
Rafe completely ignored Wyatt, running his fingers down my cheek. “You seem pale, darling, have you eaten today?”
I shook my head. Rafe moved to stand, and I clung to him, keeping him from moving. “I don’t need to eat.”
Rafe narrowed his eyes at me but didn’t push.
“Hello?” Wyatt said loudly. “You just shadow-strangled a dude in the quad!”
“Yeah he did,” Aiden cried. “Can we talk about how sick that was?!”
“No!” Wyatt barked. “It was not sick! It was foul! It’ll be everywhere by the end of the day. Everyone will know you killed a civilian!”
“He attacked Skye,” Rafe said calmly. “Everyone saw that. And besides, I’m the Crown Prince. I can kill anyone I want.”
Wyatt groaned.
“You’re acting like he just killed a random dude,” Aiden muttered.
“He sort of was a random dude!” Wyatt snapped. “He hadn’t actually attacked Skye, and we can’t tell the public she uses her banned affinities to sort of see the future!”
“I did not see the future,” I scoffed.
Wyatt stood, rubbing his eyes and face as he began to pace behind his desk.
He started straightening his knick-knacks, glaring at one shiny rock before snatching it and shining it with his sleeve.
He paused over the crystal he’d used to fuck me, running his fingers over it slowly, then looked to me.
“Someone tried to bury my Key alive,” Rafe said, his tone dark. Aiden shifted closer to me, his eyes wide and fearful as he rubbed some dirt from my cheek. “I will not apologize for making an example out of someone.”
Wyatt looked away sharply, because he couldn’t argue with that.
“Why were you even coming here?” Wyatt murmured, his fingers still on the crystal.
My cheeks felt hot again. “Uh…Willow called me screaming because she just realized Lana is staying in my apartment with Zephyr.”
Wyatt’s fingers slowly dropped from the crystal, then he buried his face in his hands.
Aiden chuckled nervously. “Sorry, baby. I’m the one that mentioned that.”
I pressed my face into Rafe’s shoulder, and he nuzzled against my hair.
“Well she’s not freaking out for no reason,” Wyatt said, his voice muffled.
“I know,” I said, my voice also muffled from my face pressing into Rafe.
“Wyatt, please.” Rafe said, his deep voice making my cheek vibrate. “You just hate him because he’s making your sister happy.”
“No, I hate him because he taunted me about Willow and Mia right before he snapped my femur,” Wyatt said defensively. “He didn’t have to do that.”
“Wait,” I sat up, making Rafe pout. “He did that the morning after I invited you into my room?”
“Yeah,” Wyatt scoffed.
“After his party?” I hedged.
Everyone stared at me.
“After everyone saw me sitting with you on the couch. Oh, my God! Why didn’t I think about that before?!”
“I’m missing something,” Aiden said.
“Why the fuck did Zephyr snap your femur if he knew we’d sort of made up?!” I cried.
Wyatt and Rafe shared a look, and I teleported off of Rafe’s lap, landing in the dark corner of the office just in time to catch the look he shared with Wyatt. All my earlier horniness completely faded. They were hiding something from me.
Aiden jumped to his feet, backing away from the couch as he came to stand near me. Wyatt hid his face in his hands again, and Rafe stared at the ceiling.
“What’s going on?” Aiden snapped.
“Darling,” Rafe started.
I shook my head, my gaze darting back and forth between Wyatt and Rafe while my stomach sank.
“It’s complicated,” Wyatt started.
Aiden barked a laugh of disbelief.
“Skye,” Wyatt said slowly.
I shook my head. I looked Wyatt right in the face, grabbed Aiden, and teleported.
