Nikolo #3

One thing about not being involved, though, is that our weekend get ups are always a secret. It’s become a bit of a drawcard for people to come and see what we’re up to. But from the crowd already flooding the club, someone’s told someone what our plans were for tonight and word’s gotten out.

Not only did we manage to get everyone involved in dressing up, but some of the day cleaning crew have gotten involved in the action and they’ve decorated the place in ‘ancient’ gold decorations and vines.

The oversized medallions and chains and streamers clash violently with the usual black with red neon lighting, creating a tacky, glorious mess.

I love it.

We’re so busy I almost miss when Willan and his friends come in through the VIP access, Erod going out of his way to showboat the shit out of escorting them to the booth roped off especially for them.

Thankfully, Kai is right next to me, and he stops what he’s doing to moon over his boyfriend from afar.

Double thankfully, the crowd thinks it’s adorable when he stops making drinks to clutch dramatically at his chest and make finger hearts at Finn from afar.

I make a show of rolling my eyes at his theatrics, but when my eyes meet Willan’s across the crowd and the spinning spotlight hits him just in time for me to catch his small wave, my smile turns a little dopey, too.

Even when we aren’t up on the bar, serving on the weekends is always a long running performance. We dance, we get flirty with the customers, and generally act like ratbags whipping each other with towels and spraying each other with drinks.

After a couple of hours, I’m itching to get out to Willan and say hello. He came up to get a round of drinks, but Lifo served him before I could. They’ve left their table at the moment, and I think I can see Jax’s bald head and the tip of Willan’s ponytail on the dance floor.

“I’m just going on a glass run.” Kai yells in my ear, slipping his register key onto my wrist before he scoops up the glass rack.

I whip his butt again with the towel, getting him with a solid crack.

Glass run, my ass. We’re busy as fuck and we have glassies for that job. He just wants to flirt with Finn.

I’m vampire enough to admit I’m jealous I didn’t think of it first.

As payback, I signal to the DJ to crank our song when he’s all the way over by the booths. He flicks me the finger before finding refuge at the guys’ VIP booth, Rolli—another security guard on with us tonight—close at hand just in case.

With Kai all the way over there, the bar is all mine and I make full use of it.

I might have scores of adoring hands reaching for me, but all the faces are a blur except for Willan’s.

It’s shockingly easy to find him, and it helps that he’s currently wrapped up in the arms of Jax and Lusce.

There isn’t a lick of jealousy because he’s focused entirely on me.

When the song ends I drop down from the bar—once again with the help of Belinda who does another twirl with me against her cheek just in case I need a second. I do—I’m hard as fuck—but I made sure to rearrange things right this time.

The second my feet are back on the ground, it’s back to work. There isn’t even time to enjoy the rush, it’s just drink after drink after drink. Sometime later—who fucking knows at this point—I’m tapped on the shoulder to go load up the cart to refill the rapidly depleting fridges.

When I slip around the edge of the bar on my way to the storeroom, I spy the familiar dangle of black hair in the line.

Evading the hands trying to stop me to ‘chat’, I sneak up behind him.

Plastering myself to his back, I quickly pull his ponytail and then pinch at his sides.

The first pull has him jumping, and the pinch has him trying to turn, but my chin is already planted on his shoulder.

“Hey good lookin’. What’re you up to?” I say, needing to yell to be heard over the thumping music.

My hands start sliding around his waist before I realise what they’re doing, so I snatch them back, and end up not entirely sure what to do with them.

I end up putting them on his shoulders to help brace myself.

I need to stretch up onto my tiptoes to comfortably reach his ear.

“Fuck’s sake. You scared the shit out of me.” He rubs at his temple and sure enough, this close, I can hear the galloping race of his heart. “I was waiting to order. And was going to ask if you were still finishing at three?”

Because Kai and I opened, we don’t have to stick around for close. Unable to help myself, I press even harder against Willan’s back, hoping he can feel the line of my half hard dick through our clothes. If any of his friends saw us, we could just blame my closeness on the crush around us.

“Sure am.” Someone bumps me from behind forcing me to rock into Willan. From my awkward angle, I see his eyes sink closed, a shudder rippling through him.

“Do you want—do you want to go home together?” Eyes still closed, he swallows hard and licks his lips. It almost looks like the question physically pained him.

Go home with Willan? Sign me the fuck up.

“Fuck yes.” I turn so my nose brushes his ear and I’m rewarded with another glorious shiver.

“Good. That’s good.” Willan is so breathless I wouldn’t be able to hear it if I wasn’t so in tune with the vibration of his breathing and pulse. It kills me to leave him to get back to work, but knowing we’re going home together makes it easier to swallow.

Work both drags and races for the next few hours, passing in great big blobs that feel like they take forever to accumulate but then disappear before I know it.

Kai and I dance together a couple more times.

On the last time we get up there, Finn’s close to the bar so Kai pulls him closer and ends the dance by jumping down and snogging him into oblivion.

It’s been a banger of a night, but I’m more than ready to go when I slip into the almost painful quiet of the staff room with Kai after we clock off.

“You right to get home? Finn’s driving me to his.

” Kai has turned into a total passenger princess since Finn finally got a car and his updated license organised for Ulydessia.

It means I’ve lost my drive to work buddy half the time, but like Kai said before, I’m happy if he’s happy. I’m not going to burst his bubble.

Plus, tonight I have Willan to drive home. This only makes things easier for me. Speaking of which, I pull my phone out of my locker.

“I think I can manage. You have fun.” I wave him off and turn my phone back on impatiently.

Willan’s message is already waiting for me.

So Finn has access to the staff car park? He’s parked right next to you. I’m waiting with him. Our cover is blown.

With him at least

I hope you don’t mind [stressed emoji]

Don’t stress. I talked to Kai. C u in a sec.

I leg it to catch up with Kai, our bags bumping together as we make our way through the employee exit.

“In a bit of a rush there, Nikki-boo?” He teases when we get jammed in the doorway, both trying to get out first. I jam my shoulder into his.

“Get fucked.” Not an original comeback, but I don’t have a leg to stand on. Because I am in a fucking rush. Dawn will be here before I know it and I want to get Willan home and alone as soon as fucking possible.

Good nights at work always leave the best vibe and I wanna make the most of it.

“Hey Willan. How’s it goin’, Finn?” I up-nod them both and lean against my car next to Willan, trying to smooth over the awkward moment where Kai and Finn eat each other’s faces off in front of us.

“Yeah, well. We’re going. See you.” Willan cuts right to the chase and pushes off the car, heading round to the passenger side.

“Wait!” Finn un-suctions himself from Kai just long enough to call out. “I wanted more info! What is this? Since when?” His ability to get full sentences out is getting undermined by the way Kai has settled with just sucking on his neck instead.

“Not gonna happen. Have a good night.” Willan rolls his eyes and opens the door, sliding in without another word. Not even goodbye. I shrug at Kai and Finn, giving them a happy grin before I get in myself.

“My place or yours?” I ask once we’re safely locked away in our own world.

“It’s a twenty-minute drive to mine.” He says, twisting in his seat so he can stare at me.

“It’s ten to mine.” I counter.

“Yours it is then.”

We slip into easy small talk on the way to my building and even manage to maintain a respectable distance on the way up in the elevator.

It’s easier to do than I thought it would be.

Not because I don’t want to jump him—I want nothing more than to unbutton that oqic of his and peel away all the layers of him until we’re a whimpering mess covered in each other's cum.

So we get into my apartment and kick off our shoes and make all the right, polite noises as I show him around the living areas of the apartment I share with Kai.

When I grab us both drinks from the kitchen, I can feel Willan’s eyes burning into me, his barely restrained impatience searing me to my core.

Even with his jaw twitching, his teeth so tightly clamped together I swear I can hear them squeaking, I keep my movements slow and methodical.

Torturous.

And more than a little dangerous, because Willan isn’t the only ticking bomb I’m dealing with. Sunrise will be here before we know it, and as much as I enjoy playing with fire sometimes, I don’t want it to burn out—or for me to pass out—before we have all our fun.

“Wanna see my room?” I cock my head and rest the tip of my bottle teasingly against my lips.

The glass of water Willan is holding crackles, an icy frost seeping out from his hand.

He doesn’t speak, probably because he doesn’t trust himself not to snap something impatient and rude, just steps out of the doorway and waves imperiously for me to lead the way.

I make sure to brush right against him, letting my free hand drag across his hip—and his crotch—as I pass. He’s harder than the steel our clan pulls from the mountains. Thankfully—or maybe not—he’s behind me, so he can’t see the smile on my lips.

Apart from when Kai raids my wardrobe, I always keep my room tidy, so I have zero worries about leading him straight there.

“Managed to snag yourself the master, I see.” Willan comments, sweeping into the room and making absolutely no effort to hide his curiosity. Immediately, he begins taking in every detail of my room.

“Only because of the clothes. Kai’s a mess at the best of times, so I keep all our outfits with me, so I snagged the big room.

” Willan stops just short of opening my drawers and rummaging through them with his inspection.

He pauses in front of my tall dresser, staring at my battery operated candles, confused.

Turning back over his shoulder, he shoots me a ‘what the fuck?’ look.

“I almost set Laurence’s place on fire a few times with candles.

After, like the third time, I think, he bought me those so I didn’t kill us all. Stuck with it ever since.”

“Huh.” He pulls a face, and I can see it making sense to him in real time. “What’s he like? Your maker?”

Now he wants to chat? Seriously? Still, being able to share this stuff with someone from my past—even if Willan has somehow slid into being someone very much in my present—is too irresistible to resist. I lean my hip against the end of my bed and fold my arms across my chest.

“Ridiculous.”

Willan laughs, his head dropping back and his ponytail swinging. He turns to face me, fiddling with one of my candles.

“Well, that was informative.” Even with his laughter there is still that authoritative edge to his voice that makes my heart thump extra hard.

“Yeah, well. It’s the best word for him.

He’s this mega rich vamp with absolutely no connection to reality.

The sweetest guy, but just delusional in the best way.

And generous. And kind. He lives in Hedrana usually, but when I met him he was travelling through the Overlands.

I’d hooked up with some beings there, was partying too much and just continuing all the same fucking shit that fucked me over before.

He found me passed out on the beach one night after drinking and partying all day.

My ‘friends’ had ditched me. He insisted on taking care of me while I sobered up.

We talked all night. It was wild, he had this canopied area reserved on a private part of the beach attached to his villa.

I’d never seen anything like it. I ended up spending the day sleeping it off in the villa and then kind of never left.

We travelled around together, right around the world really. ”

“He has this troupe of ‘wayward birds’ as he calls them, beings he picks up along the way. Some stay for longer than others. I stayed with him for a little under four years, then the year after I turned. He never asks for anything; in fact, he’s too generous.

He’s always sending money and shit. The only deal is putting effort into doing better, you know? You can’t keep up the old habits.”

“Did—were—” Willan stops and starts, forcibly closing his mouth. “Wereyousleepingwithhim?” It comes out in all one word and I can’t help but laugh.

“No. Definitely not. That’s not part of the deal. He does usually have a companion or two, but his generosity doesn’t require sleeping with him or anyone else or turning.”

“So why did you?” There are about sixteen-hundred layers of meaning to his question that I don’t have the brain capacity to answer with how hard I still am for him. Somehow, talking to him only makes me more horny for him.

“Seemed like the thing to do at the time. It felt right.”

Willan chews on his lip, deep in thought at my answer. Worried that despite my own thrumming need, this night is getting rapidly off track, I decide to get it back on the rails.

“Know what else feels like the thing to do?”

My question pulls Willan out of whatever maze his brain just delved into. “What’s that?”

“A shower. I’m all disgusting from work and don’t want to sit down like this.”

The worry disappears from his face, melting into white hot lust. His eyes drag over me, making my knees tremble.

“Ah, yeah. You should—”

“Wanna join me?” I ask before he can finish his sentence.

His eyes flare and I can feel the shimmer of his need in the air.

“Fuck yes. Yes. Yes, I do.”

“Well, then. Let’s go.”
