Epilogue
Months later, Josie held her little girl in her arms for the first time. They’d decided to name her Elanore and call her Ellie.
The feeling of true joy that washed over her surprised her. She wasn’t even a bit frightened that Jack would be upset with her when he realized she’d had a girl—a beautiful, perfect little girl with a tuft of dark hair sticking up.
When Jack joined her, he sat down beside her on the bed, looking to see if she was all right. “How are you feeling?” he asked.
“Sore. But it was worth it. Isn’t she beautiful?”
“A girl?” His face lit up at the idea. “I have a daughter?”
“Yes, and you’ll spoil her rotten. There’s no doubt in my mind.”
“Our little Ellie. We should have named her Princess, because she’ll be treated like one.”
Josie laughed. “But then she’d be made fun of. We can’t do that to her!”
“You’re right. I love her already.” He stroked the baby’s cheek with the back of his forefinger. “Thank you for my daughter.”
