Epilogue
After a year of marriage, Sally was still not pregnant. She worried that she’d never be able to have a baby.
Finally, on their second anniversary, a child was born. A tiny little girl with big blue eyes. Looking down into her child’s eyes, Sally finally understood what Belle had told her. As soon as she saw this beautiful little girl, her heart grew, and she knew she would do anything for her.
Tom sat beside her on the bed, looking at the baby. “She’s beautiful. Thank you for giving me a daughter.”
Sally rested her head on Tom’s shoulder. “What should we call her?”
“Herberta?” Tom suggested.
She laughed at that. “What about Alaska? I feel like she should be named for the place I fell in love with her father and found true freedom in my life.”
“Alaska. I like it. It sounds much better than Herberta.”
“It really does. I love you, Tom. And I love the life we’re building together.”
He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “It’s a wonderful life. Because of you.”
