T oday’s the day my world meets my other world. It took a while for us to get to this place. But I know my girls will love Adam when they meet him.
I pull into Adam’s driveway and park next to his truck. He managed to get off the next couple of days. With him hiring another assistant general manager, his days and nights are a bit more flexible.
Taking my keys out of the ignition, I round to the back of my car and get my bag before walking up to the front door. I test the door handle and see it’s unlocked, with a shake of my head, I push inside and turn the deadbolt.
“Adam? Why was your front door unlocked?” I shout when I close and lock the front door.
Dylan is at his friend's house for a sleepover. He’s been there since early this afternoon apparently. God bless Sandra for hosting six rowdy little boys. So I decided with Dylan out, I would come over early. We’ve upped the days when I see Dylan. It was strange at first as Adam and I are already affectionately comfortable with one another. Dialing back the level of affection we show one another is hard for both of us. But Adam tells me if Dylan catches us, he’ll have to get used to his Dad kissing his former teacher.
I dump my bags at the foot of the stairs and walk into the kitchen to see Adam tittering around in the fridge. A black tank top showcases his sculpted arms with the tattoos on his arm and the backward baseball cap makes me weak in the knees. Silently, I hop up onto the island and wait for him to turn around. And when he does, the smile that hits his face when he sees me is infectious.
“Hi, sunshine,” he greets me and walks over to where I’m sitting. Placing the bag of corn on the cob on the island next to me, he wedges himself between my legs and leans forward to place a chaste kiss on my lips.
I drop my arms around his shoulders, and slide my hands under the neck of his shirt, taking him in. While his eyes aren’t the bright forest green I love looking into when we’re together, it doesn’t make him any less handsome. But I fear knowing that Chelsea reappeared is weighing on him.
“Are you sure you’re ready for today?”
“Yeah. I wanna meet your world.” He reassures me.
I wrap my legs tighter around his waist and pull him closer to me. “I can’t wait for them to meet my world.”
“God I love you,” Adam says, slamming his lips to mine.
My arms wrap around his shoulders and he wraps his arms around my waist. I squeal when he pulls me off the island and walks us to the couch. My legs lock at the base of his spine as I trail my lips down his neck.
Adam makes it to the couch and my legs go on either side of his hips when he sits. The dress I’m wearing flutters around us and leaves little barrier between him and I. His cock is already hard and I moan when I feel him brush my clit. I lift up a little before lowering onto him.
“How much time do we have?” Adam asks when he breaks the kiss and latches onto my collarbone.
Raising my arm, I look at the small watch on my wrist. “Plenty of time.”
I slide back on his lap and unbutton and unzip his pants. Adam lifts as much as he can with me still on his thighs. His pants and boxer briefs slide down just enough to free him and he takes off his shirt, tossing it to the side. I trace my thumb over his slit. Rubbing the pre-cum that’s leaked out.
“Don’t play with me Em,” Adam warns through clenched teeth.
Lifting an eyebrow I move off of him and pull my scrap of underwear off. Climbing back on the couch, I straddle his hips. Pumping him a few times, I rise up on my knees and rub the head of his cock through my opening, coating him in my arousal.
Adam places his hands on my waist, steadying me, as I slowly lower down on him. The full feeling is unmatched as I bottom out.
“God damn, baby. Your pussy is so tight. You feel so good wrapped around me.”
I lift and swivel my hips, getting the most friction. Adam holds me still when I fully cover him and he moves forward, sliding his legs out before leaning back on the couch. The movement sends him impossibly deeper.
“Shit,” I moan out when he feels bigger than before. My hands fall to the couch on either side of him.
“That feel good, baby?” He asks.
My hips move up and down his length. His hands on my hips help me keep rhythm. The sound of our skin slapping together, paired with our grunts and moans, fills the otherwise silent room. Adam lifts his hips in time with me and I feel my orgasm starting in my lower belly.
“Adam,” I pant out. My voice gets higher pitch as my orgasm gets closer.
His hand comes between us and moves his thumb to my clit, still meeting my hips, rubbing tight circles and flicking the taught bud.
“Come on, Em. Come for me.”
I flex my inner muscles and throw my head back when my orgasm hits me.
“That’s it, baby,” Adam praises.
My body laxes as I come down from my high. Adam peppers my face with kisses. Latching onto my neck with lips and teeth.
“Hold on tight,” he warns before he slams his hips up into me, driving me higher again as he chases his release.
I flip his hat off, tugging on the strands of hair on the back of his head and expose his neck. I latch onto his neck, alternating between sucking, licking, and biting, moving to pull his earlobe between my teeth. My orgasm is building again, but I want Adam to come again.
“Come for me, baby. Fill me with your cum,” I whisper into his ear and tunnel my tongue in his ear causing a whimper to fall from his mouth.
His grip on my hips gets impossibly harder as he ruts into me with quick motion until his body stills. I feel the warmth from his release filling me up as a second orgasm hits me. My name falls from his mouth in a whisper before he falls back into the cushion completely spent.
I place open-mouth kisses on his neck, jaw, chin, cheeks, and lips. My hips move slowly as I milk him dry.
Adam hugs me to him and buries his face in my neck.
We stay on the couch for way too long. But this, us, soaking each other up as if we have all the time in the world is how we started.
Adam finishes stirring the margarita pitcher when a knock on the door has us looking at each other like we got caught doing illegal things.
We weren’t.
But having new people enter our world is terrifying.
“It’s cool. It’s going to be fine,” I say nervously as I wipe my already dry hands on a dish towel and walk towards the door with Adam trailing behind me.
Adam wraps his arms around my shoulders as we walk step-in-step to the door. “Relax baby. It’s going to be fun.”
He kisses the back of my head and releases me to open the door. I didn’t mention to Adam that Mason was tagging along so his intake of breath has me biting my tongue to keep from laughing.
“Hi, friends,” I greet. “Come in,” I motion to the side as I open the door wider. Adam holds his arm across my chest as my other world walks across the threshold.
“Nice place,” Sarah is the first to break the gawking.
“Thank you,” Adam says from behind me.
“Adam, this is Sarah,” she waves her hand. “Jax,” she holds her hand up. “And Kamryn and Mason.”
Adam is still behind me after I introduce Mason to him. I stealthily pinch his arm and a startled yelp sounds.
“Sorry. It’s nice to meet you. All of you. I’ve heard incredible things from Em.”
“Well she’s been incredibly tight-lipped about you,” Kamryn says.
My body freezes at the tone she uses and I see Sarah shaking her head in disappointment.
“Kam!” Jax scolds her.
“Sorry.”
We all stand in the foyer awkwardly.
“Does anyone want a drink?” Adam is the first to break the silence. He untangles himself from around me and places a kiss to the side of my head before he leads everyone to the kitchen leaving Kam and I.
It’s never been this awkward between us. But standing in front of my best friend when she feels I’ve intentionally shut her out of this part of my life…well, I don’t know how to navigate that.
“I’m sorry, Em.”
I nod my head slowly as I gather more of my muddled thoughts. “Are you mad, Kam? That I didn’t keep you up to date with this part of my life?”
“I think I’m more hurt that I kept you up-to-date with mine and Mason’s reconnecting whereas you’ve been tightlipped.”
“Kam, when have I ever been loose-lipped when it came to my love life? Even with James, I kept that close to me. I don’t expect you to tell me everything that happens between you and Mason, so why do you expect that of me?”
I don’t want this strained relationship between my best friend and I. We’ve gone thirteen years without fighting and without me being angry at her. Sure we had that period after losing James and Liam where we stopped talking. I needed that more than she did. But that time worked for us.
She pushes her hair out of her face and crosses her arms. “You’re right. I watched you struggle after James and I just assumed that when you moved on you’d be outspoken about it.”
“I get that. But my moving on is something that I needed to do without telling anyone else. It was something I needed before I announced it to the world.”
“I just want you to be happy, Emmy.”
I step forward and take her hands in mine. “I am. I’m so happy it’s almost sickening. What I want is for you to get to know Adam. And when the time comes, Dylan as well.”
“Love looks good on you.” Kam acknowledges as she pulls me into a hug.
“Love looks good on you too, bestie.”
“Now let’s get a drink and hang out in the pool.”
“Deal,” I say as we walk into the kitchen arm-in-arm.
Conversation floats through the open doors. I get Kam and myself a glass, filling them up to the rim with margaritas and joining the group outside.
Walking to where Adam is standing talking with Mason, I sidle up next to him and wrap my arm around his waist. His own arm wraps around my shoulder as he hangs onto every word Mason says. It’s adorable seeing him loosen up around Mason. When I first mentioned my connection to the quarterback I feared he would become obsessive. But so far he’s managed to remain calm.
A splash of water hits my legs and I turn to see Sarah giving me a pointed look. Rolling my eyes at her, I disentangle myself from Adam and make my way to the pool. Handing her my drink, I whip off my dress and wade into the pool.
“You’re not exactly subtle,” I say pointedly to her.
Kam snorts as Sarah rolls her eyes. “Sweetie, when have you ever known that to be a trait of mine?”
“Fair point. So what do you think?” It’s not that I need any of their approval, but it’s nice to have it.
Sarah looks around me and blatantly checks out my boyfriend. I splash her when she looks too long. Her smile is almost comical. “I can see why you fell for him. But there’s something about him. I can’t put my finger on it.”
“It’s the eyes,” I sigh.
“The eyes,” they all drone.
“How’s work, Sarah?”
She takes a healthy sip of her drink.
“That good, huh?”
“We’re doing damage control right now. One of the hockey players needs a PR makeover. So, because of me and my big mouth, I suggested a babysitter. And guess who has to do the babysitting?”
My mouth falls open. “You?”
“I sometimes hate my job.”
“But you’re the best publicist I’ve ever had,” Mason interjects as he and Adam join us in the pool.
My mouth curves into a smile when I notice Sarah staring at Adam. I splash her again.
“What?” She asks innocently.
“Get your own single dad.”
The laughter that spills out in the pool relaxes me. Adam pulls me into his arms as we wade in the pool.
This is what I always wanted. My worlds collide effortlessly as the summer sun beats down on us. The rest of the day passes by with more drinks and food Adam cooked on the grill. Music flows from the stereo he has connected outside and provides welcome background noise to an otherwise peaceful day.
As the sun begins to set, we get the firepit going along with the drinks that haven’t stopped filling our cups.
“How’s living together?” I ask Kam.
Kamryn and Mason are snuggled on a loveseat with her legs splayed over his.
“Cramped,” Mason pipes up.
“Oh, hush. He’s just mopey because he has to duck every time he comes downstairs.”
“I have to agree with Mason,” Sarah says.
“What!? It’s a cozy house,” Kam argues.
Mason snorts as he drinks from his beer. “Baby it’s cozy for you, Lucy, and Poppy. But not for all four of us.”
“Fine. Then find us a house for the four of us and I’ll move in.”
“Done.” Mason accepts with a Cheshire cat-like grin.
“Do they do this often?” Adam asks low enough so only I can hear him.
“No,” I say and roll my head toward him. “That’s just Kam’s personality coming out to shine.”
Adam places a kiss on my nose, causing goosebumps to spread on my arms and legs. “Are you cold?” He asks when he sees me shiver.
“Nope.”
He pulls me closer to his side and I see Sarah from across the fire with a soft smile on her face. I didn’t want to rock the boat with Kam by telling her that Sarah knew about my steps with Adam first. Call it her being my oldest friend? But I needed Sarah’s opinion more than I needed Kamryn’s.
I fall more in love with him as he interacts with my friends. And I constantly get the thumbs up of approval from my girls and Mason.
But what I’ve come to learn is that when life is going too good, the other shoe is bound to drop.
