KENDRALL

PART TWO (TWO DAYS LATER)…

“ C assie, get whatever you want, baby. We’ll have it shipped.”

She was staring at a gorgeous bookshelf. There was no way we could take it back on the flight tomorrow. I slowly shook my head as I watched her smile big and do a little dance. She ran to me and hugged me tight then kissed my lips. I loved this woman so damn much. Just like she would do anything for me, I would do the same for her.

Making love to her was everything. It was like I’d never had sex before… been in love before. She often said the words ‘make me forget,’ especially if something horrible had gone down. Well, that was exactly what she did for me. She made me forget all the shit in my past.

If she only knew just how hard it was for me to restrain myself when Shayla pulled that shit on our day, she would probably still try to go find her when we got back. Just like Cassie wanted things to be perfect, I wanted that too… for her. I wanted her to be able to cherish the memory of that day for the rest of her life. Seeing Shayla mess that shit up made me wanna shoot her ass. Christian was just staring at me. I could see him in my peripheral. Had I made a move, the whole groomsmen line would have gotten involved.

When Cassie had gone to sleep, I called my dad to see how things had gone. He said Aunt Tiff, Jess, and the twins beat the brakes off Shayla. He said it was a wonder she was able to get up and leave. Shayla’s family had to leave Nome, but they didn’t go far, unfortunately. They went right up the street to China. They could still show up in Nome, wreaking havoc.

He said Uncle Storm had videoed everything. I could only chuckle, because I could imagine the commentary that was probably on that shit. Jacob was standing right next to them, egging Jess on. Damn instigator. I was amazed at how much he’d progressed in a matter of two weeks. He wasn’t in a wheelchair, but he was walking with a cane.

Anyone who paid close enough attention could tell that something was wrong though. He was completely upright and had a bad limp. Plus, he was walking slower. That nigga said he was going to be in my wedding, and he was. He walked down that aisle with Ashanni like wasn’t shit wrong with him. I knew he was in pain though. I didn’t know why he was trying not to limp. Everybody in Nome knew what had happened to him.

The therapist had shut his ass down. She wasn’t as much older than him as he thought but said she didn’t have time for his bullshit. She went there, helped him work out his leg, and went on about her business. He said he wasn’t giving up, but we would see. Mekayla seemed like she would stick to her guns. She told his ass if he kept flirting with her, she was going to request another therapist for him. Since she was still going to him, I assumed he toned that shit down.

As Cassie talked to an associate about what she wanted, I walked around the store, looking for pieces to possibly match her bookshelf and found a desk that matched it perfectly. I called her over to look at it, and she was so excited. After that, we found a lamp as well. Cassie was so happy, and because she was happy, I was happy too. As long as she was satisfied and wanted nothing, I would be at ease. If there was ever something more she wanted, I wouldn’t rest until she had it.

Leaving the store hand in hand, we decided to head to the beach. Cassie had on her swimsuit under her clothes, and I had on swimming trunks with a T-shirt and flip flops. We were ready to enjoy our last day on the island. After we left the beach, we would go shower and change to go to dinner.

I couldn’t wait to get to Dubai. That was where the true experience would be. We would be there for an entire week and a half. I would fuck Cassie every which way when we got there. Those people were gon’ end up treating us like they did Samantha in Sex in the City 2 , when they were in Abu Dhabi, sending our asses packing back to where we came from.

As we got into our Uber that we’d requested, I could not only see Cassie’s happiness, but I could feel it. That shit was short-lived though. My phone started ringing, and I knew it had to be an emergency. Everyone knew where we were and said they would only call if it couldn’t be avoided. When I saw Christian’s name, that only heightened my nerves.

I huffed, trying to prepare myself for whatever they had to say. Cassie grabbed my hand, trying to ease my nerves. “Hello?”

“Y’all coming back tomorrow, right?”

“Yeah. What happened?”

“I had to board up your front window. Them niggas was out here shooting.”

I frowned slightly, wondering why that shit couldn’t wait until we got back. “Okay. That’s it?”

“Naw, man. Jacob got arrested, and your brother Kane got shot.”

The End… For Now
