4. Gabriel #3
He takes a seat beside me and shrugs. “What? I’m only calling it like it is.”
“Well, it’s not true. I have sorbet at least once a week,” Gabriel responds with satisfaction, like he just proved a point. He really didn’t. I scoff into my hand, making him narrow his eyes at me. “What?”
“You really think eating sorbet once a week is unhealthy?” I question with raised brows.
“Homemade sorbet,” Noah whispers over.
“It isn’t. It’s full of sugar and low on nutrients,” he says defensively.
“Yeah, if you eat a bucket’s worth of it! But you make it yourself, which I’m betting you either downsize on the sugar or replace it with honey. And most likely use low-sugar fruits.”
“Honey,” Noah informs me, and I can’t help but giggle.
“That still doesn’t make it healthy!” Gabe’s voice rises slightly, irritation in his eyes.
“Gabe, sorbet is basically frozen water and fruit. It’s like the healthiest freaking dessert you can have!”
“THANK YOU!” Noah exclaims. “I’ve been telling him this for years, but he won’t believe me.”
“Wait, hold up.” Gabe lifts his hand, stopping mine and Noah’s laughter. “Did you just call it frozen water? Like, instead of ice?”
I groan and close my eyes. I should have known they’d pick up on that.
Noah laughs loudly and slaps his hand on the island. “She did. I heard it too but wasn’t sure if my hearing was playing tricks on me.”
“Shut up, okay. It’s just a silly thing I picked up as a kid. I thought it would be cooler to call it frozen water instead of ice. But then it grew on me, and now I can’t help it!” They both laugh harder, and I feel a smile growing on my face as well. “Can we just eat now, before it gets cold?”
“Yes, please. Dig in,” Gabe says once his laughter starts to subside. “Vixen, I wasn’t sure if you had any allergies, so maybe name them before taking a bite. Just in case.”
“I don’t. But thank you for worrying about my health, Pretty Boy.” I wink at him, which makes his smile stretch to his ears.
“Good, what would you like to drink with that? We have grapefruit, orange, cranberry, pomegranate, and apple. Of course, there’s also coffee, or you could try my green smoothie. I’m about to make one.”
“What’s in it?” I ask skeptically.
“You don’t want to know,” Noah tells me as he begins to dig into his plate.
“Okay… well, is it at least good?”
Noah goes to answer, but Gabe cuts him off. “He wouldn’t know; he’s never tried it. But I promise, it tastes a lot better than it looks.”
“I hope it does, because that thing looks like vomit or sewer water,” Noah says under his breath.
“Eww, Noah. That’s just nasty, we’re eating.” I turn back to Gabe, who looks excited at having someone try his concoction. “You know what? Yeah, hit me with it. Aubrey always makes me try her weird recipes and food combinations, so I’m pretty sure I’ve had worse.”
“Yes! See, Noh, I always knew she had bigger balls than you do.”
I laugh as I finally take a bite of my food and…
Oh my God! This is amazing! A moan slips out as I take another bite of my burrito with closed eyes.
When I open them, I find both men staring at me like hungry vultures.
I would normally comment on that, but I’m too busy having an explosive orgasm in my mouth.
“Holy shit, Gabe! Does Morgan know you can cook like this?”
He chuckles. “I don’t think so.”
“Okay, good. We’re never telling her.” I shake my head and take another bite. Another moan. I’m pretty sure even my eyes roll back.
“Veronica. I’ll have to ask you to stop doing that. We promised to be on our best behavior, but you aren’t making it exactly easy right now.” Noah frowns.
“He’s right. You’re not playing fair,” Gabe agrees. “But why can’t we tell Morg exactly?”
He gets to work on putting his ingredients into the blender as I wipe my mouth with a napkin. “Remember that time Sam made dinner for all of us when we first met him, and Morgan said she was fine with someone else cooking?”
They both nod. “Well, she was lying. The next day, she replicated his dishes and made us girls vote on who did it best. It was easy because both were amazing. But if she went up against you, I’m not sure I could lie to her face…”
He smiles. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
I nod my head. “It is. I expect this kind of treatment every day that I’m over. Thank you.”
“Your wish is my command, milady.” He winks and starts blending his green mixture that truly does look like sewer water and is starting to make me worry. Oh, good God… what have I agreed to?
The boys go on to bicker over something else, constantly throwing back and forth friendly insults. It’s amusing to watch them go at it, I almost want to ask for some popcorn. I’ve never seen this side of them, and it’s one I quite enjoy. I find myself smiling at their interactions.
I think this is what Cecilia was talking about when she said to give them a chance. That they aren’t who I pegged them out to be. The only problem is, this version of them is much more dangerous. Because this version, I can see myself liking, can see myself falling for.
And I can’t let that happen.
