Erin

“Now, Mamaí?”

“Well, is Daidí home?”

“No,”

Charlie pouts, I chuckle seeing how excited Charlie is to help give Oscar his surprise.

We have been trying for years to get pregnant and we started IVF, which took. Daniel confirmed this morning that I am definitely pregnant.

“Daidí’s home.”

“Okay, come here and put your shirt on,”

I say, holding up the shirt I made with the baby’s sonogram that says Big Brother Coming December 2027. The moment the shirt is over his head, he is at the door, racing to meet Oscar.

A few seconds later, Oscar walks in the door, I see he is in his flannel, jeans, and boots which means he was helping out in the field today and not behind the desk. As much as Oscar in a suit is mouthwatering, I love when he gets his hands dirty and is out helping his men. I love rugged Oscar as well.

Oscar smiles when he sees Charlie at the door, then he bends down and picks him up in his arms.

“How was your day?”

“Good, I got a new shirt.”

“Did you? Let me see.”

Oscar says. He looks down and reads, “Big Brother Coming December 2027.”

He looks up at me and my hands that are laying on my flat belly.

“Erin, are you saying…?”

I nod with tears in my eyes, he has me in his arms in two steps.

“We’re having a baby,”

he whispers.

“Yeah we are.”

“Are you okay? The baby?”

“We both are healthy. Daniel checked me out this morning, but I have already made an appointment with my OBGYN.”

“Okay,”

he says, kissing me. Before I get into the kiss, I feel little arms wrapped around my legs. I look down and see Charlie smiling up at me.

“I do good, Mamaí.”

“Yes, baby. You did good,”

I tell him. Oscar bends down to my stomach and kisses it.

“Why kiss Mamaí belly?”

“Mamaí has a baby in her belly.”

“Why? Did she eat baby?”

Oscar chuckles. “No, that is where the baby will stay until it is big enough to come out.”

“Oh,”

Charlie says but I can see the wheels turning in his head.

“Come on, let’s go get cleaned up for dinner,”

I tell him as I reach for his hand.

“Why do you have a bullhorn?”

I ask with a raised eyebrow at my husband.

“Because we have an announcement to make.”

he says, like that makes perfect sense.

“And you can’t say it to everyone without a bullhorn.”

“But that is no fun,”

he says raising it above his head and knowing I can’t reach that high.

“Oscar, give it to me,”

I say, but he just runs away from me already yelling into the damn thing.

“ANNOUNCEMENT! O’SULLIVAN HOUSEHOLD! I brING YOU brEAKING NEWS!’

“Oscar, would you give me the damn thing?!”

I yell after him.

“O’SULLIVAN HOUSEHOLD! MEET IN THE DINING ROOM!”

“Oscar, I swear to god, you are the most infuriating man that has ever walked this Earth.”

“LOVE YOU TOO, MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE!”

“I’m going to kill him,”

I whisper to myself. When I get inside the dining room, the dumb fucker is standing on a chair. I march over to him.

“NOW THAT YOU ARE ALL HERE! WE HAVE TO TELL YOU--AHH!”

He screams as I walk over to him and yank on his belt loop to knock him off balance, unfortunately the asshole catches himself.

“ERIN IS PREGNANT!”

Everyone cheers but my goal is to get that bullhorn and shove it up Oscar’s ass.

“Oscar, give me the damn bullhorn.”

I order him but he lifts it back to his mouth.

“NOPE. I AM SCREAMING THIS TO THE WORLD.”

Thankfully he doesn’t see Aiden who comes behind him and pushes him off the chair. That is the moment I take the bullhorn away. He turns around and yells at Aiden.

“Do not storm on my parade.”

But then he looks back at me with an amused expression on his face.

“Give it back, Erin.”

“That would be a no,”

I tell him with my arms crossed, and his eyes fall to my chest.

“Eyes are up here,”

I tell him.

“I know, but those are really fun to look at.”

“I swear to god. I’m going to kill him.”

I mutter under my breath.

“I’ll help you hide the body,”

Aiden volunteers.

“I see the loyalty,”

Oscar says giving his brother a death look, which Aiden just shrugs his shoulder at.

“I’m loyal to Erin. I like her more than you.”

Oscar takes that opportunity to snatch the bullhorn out of my hands and runs through the house yelling, “ERIN IS PREGNANT”

and “I’M GOING TO BE A DAIDí AGAIN.”

“I got him,”

Keegan says with a shit eating grin as he runs out of the door. For eighteen, that kid has a crazy level of confidence.

“Congratulations, Erin.”

Peter is the first to wrap me in a hug.

“Thank you.”

Then it is a flurry of hugs and congratulations. I laugh when Oscar and Keegan, walk in, both all disheveled. Oscar still has that big ass grin on his face, and he gets hugs on his way over to his seat. He wraps his arm over the back of my chair and is playing with my hair.

“I love you,”

he whispers in my ear.

“I love you too,”

I answer and he kisses my lips.

Peter lifts his glass. “A toast to Erin and Oscar and their unborn baby. May she have a stress free and healthy baby, who we all can’t wait to meet.”

Everyone else raises their glasses, “To Erin and Oscar.”

Of course, Keegan raises his glass to make a smartass comment, “To Erin who has the patience to deal with him.”

Peter cuts off the banter before it really even starts, “As I said before, whoever ends up marrying you will need to have the patience of a saint.”

We all chuckle at that, knowing it’s the damn truth.
