40. Mammon
FORTY
MAMMON
We gather in my office, all of us still riding the high from the torture Bel inflicted, each of us celebrating in our own way.
Levi’s in the corner, giving Luc a blowjob, licking and slurping up his length. Asmodeus is drinking, a rare occurrence unless he’s trying to come down. It would all seem so normal, were it not for the one missing.
Gore .
Beelzebub sits on my lap, nuzzling under my chin as I pet his hip. He’s always tried to hide it, but I know how much he needs to be taken care of. This experience has unlocked it, apparently, and I can tell that from now on, I’ll have to be strong for all three of us. Bel might want to be, but he doesn’t need to be anymore.
“When are we going to do it?” he mumbles against my chest, hugging my waist tightly. “What are we going to do?”
All of us haven’t discussed it yet. I’m giving everyone time to return to their senses before we talk about the plan but, since he’s asking, I’m more than happy to share.
Cindy gave us some valuable information when we took her two days ago. We found out that Sage and the rest of the resistance are hiding out at a warehouse on the other side of the island, a port that’s actually in use, mostly for textiles. Since it’s the wrong season for that, no one’s caught on, and we never guessed to look there.
There’s currently twenty of them, but they’re never all in the warehouse at the same time, except for a meeting he has planned a week from now. That’s when we’ll strike. Apparently, they’re relying on their cleverness and tactics to fight us. They have a few weapons, but none of them are trained like us. I personally know over three dozen ways to kill someone and the rest of my brothers are especially creative.
“On the night of the meeting, we’ll infiltrate the warehouse,” I tell him, planning on repeating all this to everyone else in a few hours. “We’ll find Sage first and have Luc stand guard outside while we take him. Once we’re out, we’ll barricade the exits and burn them all alive.”
He nods slowly. “Do you think it’ll work?”
“I hope so.” I rest my cheek on the top of his blue head. “I can see how it might go wrong. We might have a few that escape, but I don’t think enough to actually make a difference. What you told me shows the lengths they’ll go for Sage. I doubt they’d be able to organize another coup on their own.”
“Daddy…” he trails off, blinking up at me with watery eyes. “Gore’s not okay.”
I nod. My heart clenches at how much I wish Gore were with us. “I know, kitten. I hate it too.”
“He’s… He’s gone,” he cries softly, shaking his head as if to deny the truth. “How are we going to get him back?”
That’s the question of the century. Gore has sometimes lost his touch, mostly being triggered by small things, but he’s always come back. This time…I’m not sure. What he went through is one of the most traumatizing things I can think of. I can’t even begin to imagine how we’ll pull him out.
“We have to try,” I say, not really able to give him a clear answer. “We need him.”
Burying himself back in my chest, he weeps quietly. I hold him there, knowing that after going through the plan with our brothers, that we’ll have to do something.
Because the longer we wait, the more Gore breaks.
