Chapter 12
CHAPTER TWELVE
Marc
God, she was the prettiest thing I’d seen. Colbie, naked and flushed, laid out all for me.
I pressed a kiss to her jaw, her neck, her collarbone, her breast. I loved the way she squirmed for me, her desire obvious.
As I’d guessed, Colbie wasn’t shy or hesitant in bed. She was hungry, enthusiastic, and didn’t hide how much she wanted me.
My cock was hard and throbbing. I needed to be inside her. A pack of monsters could come through the door, but there was no way I could stop.
I circled my cock, guiding it against her slick folds. She made a husky, needy sound.
I had to kiss her again. I took her mouth deep. I felt so connected to her.
Her hands gripped the back of my neck.
I pushed inside her a few inches. Her nails dug in, and she gasped into my mouth.
Hell. She was small, and I wasn’t.
“Okay, dove?”
“Um, I think so.”
I pushed another inch and she whimpered.
“You’re big.”
“I know, baby. Tell me you’re okay because you feel amazing. Sleek. Tight.” I growled against her lips.
Her nails scratched over my skin. “Marc, I’m okay. Fuck me.”
With a groan, I sank all the way inside her. She moaned, her legs curling around me.
“Damn, Colbie.” I thrust harder, deeper.
Her head fell back. “Yes.” Then her hands were on my ass, urging me on.
I reached between our straining bodies and found her clit.
She cried out, and I thrust faster.
“Get there, dove.”
Her thighs clamped on my sides. “More.”
She liked my rough thrusts. I knew I wouldn’t last much longer.
She rocked into me. “I love your cock.”
“Colbie, baby, get there.” I pinched her clit.
With a short scream, she came again. Beautiful.
I watched her orgasm take her, pleasure suffusing her face. I looked down to where she was taking my cock.
Fuck. I bucked into her wildly, grunting under the growing pressure.
Then, my climax rocked me to the core. I planted deep, body shuddering, and I groaned through my own release.
Dropping down beside her on the bed, I sucked in air.
That was…intense. Usually, I kept sex light, fun. Not whatever this was.
She rolled into me and kissed my pec. I could hear her panting.
I forced myself to relax and stroked my hand over her warm skin. She had lots of stubble burn in places. My lips quirked. I liked knowing I’d put my mark on her.
“Hey.” She smiled up at me. “That was delicious.”
I’d never seen anything prettier. “You’re delicious.”
A blush filled her cheeks. “And you have a big cock.”
I laughed and pulled her closer. Then I nibbled her lips with mine. “You seemed to like it.”
“I did. I do. I want to suck it later.”
Hell. Even though I’d just come hard, my cock twitched. “My little flygirl fuck bunny. She’s wild in the sky and wild in bed.”
She rolled her eyes. Then she ran her hand along my jaw. Her gaze traveled down my naked body. “Oops. Um, I scratched you up a little.”
She had. On my biceps and chest. “Pretty sure you left even more marks on my ass and back.”
She bit her lip. “Sorry.”
“You don’t sound sorry.”
She smiled. “Are you hungry? I can get us something to eat.”
“No.” I’d been fed in the infirmary.
“Thirsty?”
“No.”
She touched the tip of her tongue to the corner of her lips. “Want to fuck again?”
I rolled her on top of me. “Yeah. I’m planning to fuck you all night, dove.”
Her smile widened. “Better get to it, then.”
Colbie
I woke up lying on my stomach.
I smelled Marc. That spicy scent I loved. He was tucked up behind me, his big body partially pinning me to the bed. We were both naked.
The covers were… Well, I wasn’t sure. On the floor somewhere. The sheet was half tangled around our legs.
I turned my head. He was still asleep, and I smiled. I wasn’t surprised. He’d fucked me four times, I think. After my fifth orgasm, I’d lost count. He’d come his fair share, and worked me hard for it. I’d gotten my chance to suck that magnificent cock of his.
Needless to say, Marc was good in bed. He was fun, a generous lover, and he had stamina.
The sun was shining gleefully through my windows, reflecting off my turquoise wall. My dresser was overrun with houseplants that always put a smile on my face.
I didn’t know how long I’d get the chance to enjoy Marc in my bed, but I was going to make the most of it. I wouldn’t make it weird when he was ready to move on.
I heard a noise, and realized that someone was in my living room.
That must have been what had woken me.
Several people had the code to get into my place. God, I hoped it wasn’t my parents coming to check on me.
When I slipped out of bed, Marc didn’t even move. My insides warmed. That meant he felt safe and trusted me. Normally, I’d guess the slightest thing would wake him.
I nabbed my favorite robe. It was a silky turquoise and covered with bright-red flowers.
I was finger-combing my hair as I stepped into the living room.
I froze.
All of Hunter Squad was packed into the small space. I cinched the belt around my waist. Sasha was there as well. The comms officer’s dark curls were loose today, tumbling around her shoulders. She looked a lot like her dad, with Māori heritage and a wide, white smile.
“Hey. Is everything all right?” I asked.
“No.” Zeke scowled.
God. Did they know Marc was here? We hadn’t had a chance to talk details, like who we were going to tell.
We hadn’t really done much talking at all.
Jameson was scowling. “We wanted to check on you.”
Jess and Sasha were eyeing me. I shifted on my bare feet.
“And Marc is missing,” North said.
Oh, crap. “Missing?”
“He checked himself out of the infirmary while no one was looking.” North shook his head. “Doc Emerson is pissed.”
“I’m sure he’s fine.”
“He’s not at home,” Zeke said. “He hasn’t been there, and no one has seen him.”
“Oh, well…” My mind went blank.
Sasha cleared her throat. “How are you feeling?”
“Great. All I needed was a good night’s sleep.” Which probably anyone with half a brain cells could tell I hadn’t gotten.
Sasha shared a look with Jess.
“And that gave you some wicked stubble burn on your neck?” Sasha asked, fighting a smile.
My hands flew up to my check. “Oh, um…”
Jameson groaned. “You’re seeing someone and we butted in.”
“Seeing who?” Kai demanded.
“Guys, how about you let me shower and—”
“Is it that Spencer guy?” North asked, looking unhappy.
“Those are Marc’s boots,” Zeke said suddenly.
I glanced down and saw them discarded on the floor. Heat filled my cheeks. Everyone looked my way.
“Dove? Where did you disappear to?”
I heard Marc a second before he sauntered out. He was shirtless, but thankfully he’d pulled his jeans on. He was running a hand through his tousled hair, saw the gang, then stopped.
Silence fell.
Then several people started talking all at once.
“It was irresponsible to leave the infirmary, Marc,” North said.
“What the fuck?” Kai said.
Zeke didn’t say anything.
Sasha and Jess grinned.
Jameson scowled and pointed at me. “She went through a fucking scary ordeal, and you made a move?”
“Hey,” I snapped. “I’m not a child.”
Jameson’s scowl deepened. “She was in a vulnerable position—”
“Bullshit,” I said. “He went through it, too. We’re consenting adults.”
“It’s none of your business who I share a bed with,” Marc said.
Jameson crossed his muscular arms and didn’t look convinced one little bit.
I walked to Marc and stood beside him. “Everything’s fine. We appreciate the concern, but it’s unwarranted.”
Marc put an arm across my shoulders. “What Colbie said.”
“We’re friends and adults. Two adults enjoying each other’s company for a bit. That’s it.” I worked very hard to keep my tone casual and easy, even though I felt like a band was squeezing my chest.
Marc’s arm tightened, almost to the point of pain. I glanced up at him and saw a muscle tick in his jaw.
“Right?” I prompted.
He gave a jerky nod. “Right.”
Jess and Sasha were no longer smiling.
I pasted on a smile. “I’m fine. Marc is fine.”
Jameson blew out a breath. “Okay. All right.” He straightened. “The generals have called a meeting. We need to plan our mission back to Blue Mountain Base, and figure out how to nab a threader.”
My stomach did a slow whirl at the thought of returning to the Blue Mountains.
A hand gripped the back of my neck and squeezed.
I glanced at Marc. He’d picked up on my distress. I stiffened my spine. “What time is the meeting?”
“In thirty minutes,” Jameson said.
Eek. “I need to shower and change.”
“We’ll wait for you,” Sasha said.
“I need to head home and grab some clothes,” Marc added.
He disappeared to find his shirt in the bedroom.
No kiss. No hug. No nothing.
I suddenly wanted everyone gone. I needed a moment alone. “I’ll go and shower.” I glanced at Sasha. “Grab some coffee in the kitchen.”
I hurried off. I passed Marc in the hallway, now wearing his T-shirt.
Casual, Colbie. Keep it casual.
“Colbie—”
I smiled the fakest smile ever and waved a hand. “Go. Thanks for last night. I need to hit the shower.”
A groove appeared on his brow. “Dove—”
“I’ll see you at Squad Command.” I reached my bedroom and closed the door.
Then I sagged against it.
He didn’t come in. I closed my eyes and let the hurt flow through me.
Apparently, a one-night hookup and some stress relief from our shared ordeal was all Marc wanted.
That’s what you agreed to, remember? I shook my head. Suck it up, Colbie. You have a meeting to get to.
