Chapter 66 Warren
WARREN
Warren took a sip of his hot cider and looked up at the full moon. It hung heavy in the sky, cold and bright, turning the werewolves around him into absolute lunatics.
Leaning back into the warm embrace of Marcus in his alpha shift, he closed his eyes and enjoyed the sensation of being enveloped.
They were in a wide clearing, at the center of which was a roaring inferno of a fire, with more werewolves than he’d ever seen running around in joyous celebration.
A lot of them were shifted into their alpha forms.
Marcus wasn’t the largest alpha in the clearing, but he was the most respected.
Practically everyone present had come by at some point during the evening and wished him congratulations on claiming his mates, and the deferential, awed way they spoke to him made Warren feel tingly and incredibly proud.
Every time, Marcus had greeted the pack member by name, thanked them in return, and told them how happy he was.
A loud crackle from the fire made Warren startle and spill some of his cider.
Right after, a woman and two men ran past him and Marcus, laughing and screaming.
The woman tackled one of the men into the snow, then the third man piled on top of the two of them and they started rolling around in a tangle of limbs, kissing and fighting and making Warren blush at the unabashed lack of inhibitions.
Marcus kissed the top of his head, massive arms hugging him tight into pillowy pecs. The heat of his body was like a radiator against Warren’s back. He reached up to wipe his brow. He was getting a little clammy, which was absurd considering it was twenty degrees below zero.
He’d started the evening bundled up in a thick coat and heavy snow pants – and even then, he’d been cold – but the heat of the fire combined with the body heat of so many werewolves had turned the air sweltering.
He’d had to strip down to just his jeans and t-shirt.
“I’m sorry if it’s too much,” Marcus said in a low rumble, speaking into his ear.
Warren closed his eyes and reached for the bond connecting them. He felt Marcus’s giddy joy at spending the full moon with his mates, along with his desire for Warren to enjoy himself.
Warren sent back his feeling of relaxed enjoyment and how nice it felt to be held and cuddled.
Marcus chuckled and kissed his neck.
“This is fun,” Max said, jogging up to them with a giddy grin. He was also in his alpha form, his shirtless, sweaty torso glistening from the light of the fire. “Do you guys want to go swimming? Anastacia, Brendan and Odin cut a hole in the pond! Harland is there already.”
“Warren?” Marcus asked, leaving it to him.
It would mean abandoning the warmth of the clearing.
“Sure,” Warren said. He was feeling hot, anyway. It would be nice to cool down a little. “Just let me put my coat and snow pants back on.”
“Harland scared the shit out of August,” Max said, taking Warren’s cider out of his hands so that he could get dressed unencumbered.
“He was under the surface when August jumped into the hole, except August hadn’t seen him go in, and then Harland grabbed his ankle.
You should have seen how he jumped out of the water! ”
Warren laughed as he put on his hat and mittens. “That was mean.”
“It was so funny!”
“If you say so.” Warren was done getting dressed. He took back his cider and downed the rest of it. “I’m ready.”
Instead of heading to the pond, Max lifted him up for a passionate kiss. It was like he’d been struck by the impulse, and then hadn’t been able to help himself.
He squeezed down on Warren’s ass, pinning him tight to his naked chest. Warren could feel the sharpness of his claws pressing into his glutes and against his back.
He kissed Max back, licking past his sharp canines and feeling small compared to the enormous alpha.
Feeling their bond pulse and sparkle between them, Warren reached for the energy crackling between them. He took a tiny bit of it into himself – just a sip – and enjoyed the nice, fluttery feeling that coursed through his veins as it settled inside of him.
Since that first night when he’d drained his mates to the point of knocking them off their feet, he’d managed to control his feeding a little, and he was only getting better at it.
Marcus pressed in behind him, pushing forward and squeezing him tight between his and Max’s enormous bodies. He wrapped his arms around both of them and bent his neck to kiss and lick over his mating bite.
Warren took a sip of energy from him, too.
“Okay, guys, let’s get going before this turns into a public show,” Marcus said, pulling away.
It was probably for the best. Warren was already starting to sweat now that he was back in his full winter gear.
“Yeah,” Max said, not letting Warren down to the ground. Instead, he tossed Warren over his shoulder and started to run. “It’s over here!”
Max leading the way, Marcus followed with a laugh. “I know where the pond is.”
It didn’t take long to make it to the impromptu swimming spot. Max set Warren down right on the edge of the ice, a bit away from the group of werewolves jumping into the icy water, and gave him a kiss before running over to join in on the fun.
He stripped off his stretchy athletic shorts without a care in the world and jumped into the hole with a roar. He broke the surface of the water a second later with a mighty splash, laying himself flat and swimming back onto the ice and jumping to his feet.
Even after being submerged in the icy water, his cock hung thick and heavy between his legs.
“It’s so cold!” he yelled, rubbing his arms and waving at Warren and Marcus.
Marcus wrapped Warren back into a hug, squeezing him as they watched Odin cannonball into the water next.
Harland, who had been talking to Brendan, left the hole and walked toward them. His pale skin looked especially lifeless under the cool glow of the moon, his features cast in stark relief. The fact that there were icicles in his hair and eyebrows didn’t help make him look any more alive.
Unlike Max and Marcus, he was not in his alpha shift.
He was still unbearably attractive. Warren kind of thought he looked like an ice demon out of one of his deliciously cheesy romance novels.
“My turn,” Harland said, advancing toward him.
It took Warren a second to realize what he meant. He burrowed closer to Marcus with a squeal. There was no way that Harland, who was in frozen icicle mode, was getting anywhere near him. He needed a werewolf oven, not a vampire heat sink.
“Stay back!” Warren warned, laughing.
“I got you, Harland,” Max called, running up behind Harland and wrapping him up in a hug from behind. “I’ll warm you up.”
Warren found it hilarious to see Harland looking so small. He was a full foot shorter than Max’s towering alpha form.
Harland smiled softly, and Warren was treated to a very nice show as his mates started to make out.
“Are you going to jump in the water?” Warren asked, twisting his neck and looking up at Marcus.
Marcus shook his head and chuckled, his canines glinting in the moonlight. “Not a chance.”
“It’s refreshing,” Max said, breaking his kiss with Harland and grinning at them. “We should use ice the next time we’re in the playroom.”
“Ice can be fun,” Harland agreed, flicking Max’s nipple and making him shudder.
The two alphas resumed kissing, breaking apart when Max’s teeth started to chatter.
The ice in Harland’s hair and eyebrows had melted.
“How about we move this to the cabin?” Marcus suggested. “We can heat up in the pool and then have a puppy pile.”
“Yes,” Warren agreed immediately. A swim in the heated pool in the basement sounded like heaven, and ending the night in a puppy pile with his mates would be the perfect way to round out the evening.
Puppy piles with Marcus and Max in their alpha forms were the best. There was just so much of them to cuddle.
“I want to make s’mores,” Max said, rubbing his arms. He was starting to really shiver.
Marcus kissed the top of Warren’s head in apology and went over to wrap their freezing mate in a warming hug.
“We can make s’mores after we go in the pool.”
Max leaned into the embrace with a sigh, pushing his face into Marcus’s neck and making a happy little noise in the back of his throat. He shifted back to his human form, the change as instant and startling as always, and let Marcus envelop him in his big arms.
Harland walked next to Warren and tousled his hair, leaning in. “How are you enjoying your first full moon?”
Warren gave a happy shrug. “Nice vibes.” He licked his lips and pressed closer. Harland wasn’t so cold now that he’d stolen all of Max’s warmth. “Maybe a bit more intense than I anticipated.”
“Bad intense?” Harland asked, hugging him.
Warren shook his head. It had been a long night, but he’d had fun.
He was looking forward to going to sleep.
“Not at all. It’s been fun. You’re all so happy.”
“That we are,” Marcus agreed, walking back and stealing him from Harland. He squeezed him against his chest.
The warmth seeping into him from the alpha’s body made Warren go limp with boneless pleasure. He laid his head on Marcus’s shoulder, suddenly struggling to keep his eyes open.
Maybe he would take a quick nap while Marcus carried him back to the cabin. He was remarkably comfortable.
“I didn’t know it could be like this,” Max said, coming up next to them. He shot a guilty glance in Harland’s direction. “I mean, our full moons were…”
“I know what you mean,” Harland said. He kissed Max’s cheek. “This is better.”
Max ducked his head, nodding. “Yeah.”
“Are you falling asleep?” Marcus asked, stroking Warren’s hair.
“I’m just resting my eyes,” Warren said.
He could feel sleep pulling him under.
“You do that,” Marcus said, amused. He was still stroking his hair, his massive hand feeling amazing as he scratched his nails across Warren’s scalp.
This was the life.
The End
