Chapter 42 The Harrington Family, Don't Even Think About It

Clara Bennett was startled to see Jason Ford blocking her path, his smile sarcastic and his eyes filled with hostility and disdain.

"Ha, the junior has grown wings and gotten bold! Now you're eyeing my position?"

Clara didn't want to argue with him and tried to walk past, but Jason's voice followed her.

"You think Mr. Thomas Sun really wants to promote you? He's just using you!"

Clara turned to look at him.

Jason impatiently tugged at his tie, his face showing frustration.

He slowly walked up to her, and Clara caught a whiff of the pungent smell of smoke on him, which made her feel nauseous.

"Junior, if you really want my position, I'll give it to you! Why use such tactics against me?"

"I've never coveted your position," Clara said coldly, looking at him. "It was Mr. Sun who called me in and said..."

"Said those who can, work harder?" Jason scoffed. "That old fox used the same trick on me!"

Clara's eyes darkened, and she leaned back, deliberately putting some distance between them.

"Central City has been an unbreakable bone for years, even the chairman is at a loss. Do you think you can take it down?"

"Whether I can or not, I'll only know after trying," Clara said clearly, her eyes bright. "The company has never been about seniority. If you're so afraid of me taking your position, then compete with me fairly!"

Jason burst into laughter.

"Clara, you're adorably naive! Fine, since you're determined to tackle this tough challenge, let me share some of my insights with you!"

"Central City has four major families. If you can secure any one of them, you'll be set for life!

" Jason said with a sinister look. "But the head of the four families, the Harrington Family, forget about it.

The White Family, though, you might have a shot at!

That young master Jasper White is quite the charmer.

With your looks, junior, you might catch his eye! "

Clara's face turned pale, and she clenched her fists tightly, taking a deep breath. After a few seconds of silence, she looked up and gave Jason a faint smile.

"Senior always likes to talk about a woman's looks, doesn't he?"

Jason paused, squinting at her.

"Jason," Clara said coldly, addressing him by his full name, "in your eyes, does a woman have to use her looks to achieve anything? Does a woman have to sell herself to make any progress, take the so-called shortcut?"

Jason glanced at her and let out a contemptuous laugh.

"Ha, Manager Ford always talks about these things. You must be jealous of the natural advantage women have, right? When you couldn't close deals, you must have hated being a man, unable to take the 'shortcut' women can!"

"But don't worry," Clara crossed her arms. "There's a country in Southeast Asia that's quite advanced in gender reassignment surgery. It's affordable, and the round-trip ticket would cost about half a month's salary for Manager Ford! You could go there over a weekend and get the surgery done!"

"What?" Jason gritted his teeth. "Clara, you..."

"Manager Ford, with your good looks, you'd be even more attractive as a woman! Then the company's performance would depend entirely on you!"

Several people nearby covered their mouths, laughing and whispering about Jason's embarrassment.

Clara gave a cold smile and walked away.

Jason stood frozen, unable to recover for a long time. Clara's cold, ruthless gaze sent chills down his spine, reminiscent of the look Mason Reed had given him the day he was beaten.

...

When Clara got home, she started researching on her computer right after dinner.

Mason curiously looked over her shoulder and was surprised to see Jasper White's photo on her screen!

Clara spent the entire evening studying Jasper's profile and photos, memorizing his preferences...

Mason's eyes darkened, and he silently walked to the balcony, closing the sliding door behind him. On the balcony, he had a punching bag and gloves. He started punching, but the more he hit, the more frustrated he felt. Glancing back into the room, Clara was still engrossed with her computer.

He threw a hard punch, sending the bag flying, and stood in the corner of the balcony.

He took out his phone, hesitated, and then called Jasper.

"Third Brother?" Jasper was at a bar and was surprised to receive the call. "What can I do for you?"

There was silence on the other end.

Jasper checked the screen; the signal was good, and the call hadn't been dropped. So he asked again, "Third Brother, what's wrong?"

Mason still didn't speak.

"Third Brother, if you need anything, just tell me, I'll definitely..."

Suddenly, a roar came through the phone: "Stay out of my sight from now on!"

Jasper jumped, and when he looked at the screen again, the call had been disconnected.

He couldn't believe that Mason, who rarely initiated contact, had called him late at night just to yell at him.

Jasper was baffled and looked at Chase Ye with a bitter expression. "...What did I do to offend him this time?"
