Chapter 14

Cassie

I ran to my car, and then got in, started it up, and made the three-hour drive to the outskirts of Fayetteville with one thought on my mind.

I’ll kill whoever stands in my way of reaching him.

Seeing the sign for Twisted Pleasure, I whipped my car into the lot and then climbed out.

Twisted Pleasure was an upscale strip club in Fayetteville.

I had asked Alec what the others did when they weren’t out on missions.

He told me that Duke, aka Sire, bounced for his cousin, Levi, when he had a big night.

And according to Laurie, who I had texted earlier, he was there tonight.

I ignored the looks, the stares, and marched to the front door.

The bouncer standing there eyed me up and down and lifted a brow, “Yeah. This ain’t the place for you, little girl.”

I snapped, “I don’t give a shit. I need to see Duke. And I need to see him now. Tell him Cassie is here.”

He shook his head.

“Listen, Sasquatch. You will tell Duke that I am here, or I will shove my foot so hard up your ass you’ll be seeing stars.”

The man growled, then he slowly started to advance on me.

I held my ground.

Was I ever going to cower? Fuck no.

I didn’t when my ex thought he could lay his hand on me, because I told him no the first and only time he tried to fuck me, and I sure as hell am not doing it now, “If you don’t tell Dalton Graham that I am here, and he finds out that you didn’t tell him like I told you to do, I wouldn’t want to be you. ”

Something in my tone must have resonated inside of him, because he stopped, tilted his head, and said, “That right?”

I growled, “You know what, fuck this.”

Then I pulled out my phone and called Laurie

She answered on the second ring, that caring tone of hers was coming through loud and clear, “Cassie girl, what’s shaking?”

I smiled at her, even though I was furious as hell, “I need your help. But this big fucking sasquatch in front of me at Twisted Pleasure won’t go tell Duke that I’m here. And I need Duke, Laurie. I really need him.”

The caring tone vanished, and in its place was the tone of a wife to a SEAL, “Hand whoever it is the phone.”

I snickered, “Yes, ma’am.”

Then I handed the big asshole the phone.

He looked down at it, then at me, and lifted a brow.

I growled, “It’s Laurie Turner. Kenton’s wife.”

His eyes widened, and yep, I watched it.

His face went pale.

Sucker.

Carefully, he took the phone from my hand and then put the phone to his ear, “Uh, yes.”

He stuttered, “Yes. Yes, ma’am.”

I stood there with my arms crossed.

His jaw dropped, then he snapped it shut, “Yes, ma’am.”

He hung up the phone, then handed it to me, and then he said something into his mic.

“Tell Duke that Cassie is here to see him.” He said.

Then he looked at me, “My deepest apologies, Ms. Cassie.”

I sighed, “It’s alright. I probably would have throat punched me by now if I were you.”

He winked, “Nah, was raised better than that. But had you been Ms. Laurie, she would have throat punched me the moment I didn’t do what she wanted the first time.”

I snickered.

He was totally right.

Just then, the door opened, and there Duke stood.

He moved to me, tagged my elbow, and led me away from prying eyes and ears.

The moment we were around the corner, he said, “Talk to me.”

I did.

I relayed what had been said.

He nodded, then pulled out his phone and texted someone.

A few seconds later, it beeped.

And then... Duke Hastings smiled.

And it wasn’t a good smile.

Oh no.

Hell was coming for the assholes who had captured Alec.

Sire

Operation IDGAF Text Thread

Me – Need y’all.

King – What happened?

Raptor – Have anything to do with the whispers?

Stripe – What is it?

Me – Ghost.

Me – He was captured.

King – Let’s make them pay.

Playboy – Ready and waiting.

Stripe – Adios Motherfucker.

Raptor – Let’s get Ghost.

Ripper – Good. Needed this. Some fucker just asked Cree out.

Playboy – They’re dead men.

Then I looked at Cassie and said, “I’ll text you.”

She nodded, “And if you can, find out the status of his team?”

I winked at her, “You got it.”

I watched as she went to his truck, climbed in, started it up, and then she left the parking lot.

I turned on my boot, headed to the side door, brought my arm back, and punched Smith in the face, “Don’t ever hesitate in coming to get me ever again. Feel me?”

Cassie

Should Have Run Text Thread

Laurie – They will get him back.

Laurie – Don’t you worry.

Me – Thank you.

Sire

I eyed the people in the tent, then I went to his team, looked at Hyde, and said, “Cassie is worried.”

He nodded, “Text her.”

I nodded, then pulled out my phone.

Me – The team is okay.

Me – We’re getting ready.

Then I put my phone in my pocket, crossed my arms over my chest, and we planned.

Needless to say, when the higher-ups came in, their plan was shit.

But our plan wasn’t.

And because of who we were, who the Delta team was, and who Ghost was, they got with the program.

Our program.

Smoke

My boots hit the ground, and it was time to get my brother back.

I hated leaving him. Fucking hated it.

We had a creed, goddammit.

And I knew it was bad when they let us all go.

Hyde

Watching Ghost’s face as we were all ordered to leave had nearly done me in.

Fucking intel.

Fucking stupid ass motherfucking intel had been wrong.

I would fix this shit.

And soon.

Jekyll

Pain was going to be delivered to those motherfuckers.

Ice

Ice settled in my veins, and I turned into a robot.

Wolf

Oh, yeah, motherfuckers, you better run. It was time to hunt.

Playboy

I’ve worked with the Delta team on more than one occasion.

I’m a tough motherfucker.

But never have I seen the looks that were on their faces before now.

Cold-blooded fury.

Stripe

The grounds are going to be caked in red.

Red lines.

Red veins.

King

Hell hath no fury like a fallen brother.

Raptor

Tick-tock motherfucker.

Ripper

I stepped in line and started moving.

One thing was on my mind.

Vengeance.

Cold.

Lethal

Deadly.

And as I took my third shot, I brought up the image of Cree’s smile to take away some of the pain I felt.

Sire

We all halted.

Then we breached.

Ghost

I grinned.

“Lights out motherfuckers,” I whispered.
