Chapter 14

Mason

Cannon nudged my shoulder with his. “Is that the same beer you ordered when you got here?”

I grunted a response without looking at him.

“So, yes. Dude, you’ve been here for two hours,” he laughed, taking another drink of his own beer.

“I’m driving tonight,” I excused, keeping my gaze on the group of girls on the dance floor.

My sister and our cousins were taking exceptional care of Sutton, which I’d expected.

If she was going to be out with friends, I was glad it was with them.

It didn’t stop me from hating every minute that she was away from me, though.

Sutton looked hot as fuck in the dress Shaw had picked out for her.

It clung to her body, emphasizing every spectacular asset my girl had, without being overly loud.

Those damn heels she had on made her legs look like they went on for miles.

Not that I could see them from where I was sitting.

I could barely catch a glimpse of her face or the back of her head since the others had her dead center in their group.

They were like a herd of lionesses, keeping the more innocent ones on the inside, providing a protective circle that no one was brave enough to breach.

It helped that Violet’s and Arella’s bodyguards were on the periphery of the group, keeping a foot of distance between the group and the rest of the VIP clubbers.

I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t tear his gaze from the girls.

Luca and Jagger sat on the couch perpendicular to the one I was sharing with Cannon.

They hadn’t glanced away from their wives since they’d sat down, although they contributed to the conversation of the others around us—all of whom had a difficult time concentrating on anything but their women dancing.

“How is this celebrating anything?” Cannon complained. “Our wives are out there having a hell of a good time, and we’re all just sitting here watching them. And the worst part is that I can’t even see Piper’s ass from here. This is boring, man.”

“This is relaxing as hell, if you ask me,” Jamie said, his attention on his phone.

He had planted his ass on the arm of the couch beside me and hadn’t moved since he’d arrived with Ky and Sparks.

The three of them took turns keeping their eyes locked on their girlfriend.

Unsurprisingly, Hayat was the one who drew the most attention.

She was the most modestly dressed, yet it was impossible for people not to take second and third looks at her.

Her above-average height and wild hair weren’t what drew attention.

It was Hayat herself who caused them to look again and again.

“How is this relaxing?” Cannon demanded, finishing the rest of his beer.

“One, Abi and Sammy aren’t here,” Jamie said, lifting one finger, then another. “Two, Abi and Sammy aren’t here.”

“One hundred percent,” Sparks agreed, fist-bumping his friend without taking his eyes off the group of girls.

“Fuck this shit. I’m gonna dance with my wife.” Cannon set his empty bottle on the table and stood. No one moved to follow him. I wanted to go with him, but I wasn’t stupid. Once the girls got tired, they would let us join them. If anyone interrupted them before then, it was their own funeral.

“Twenty bucks, Piper knees him in the balls,” Jagger said, tossing a twenty on the table.

“It’s not a matter of if, but when,” Jordan said with confidence, stretching out his legs and crossing his feet. “I give it twenty seconds.”

More money was dropped on top of the first bill, bets being placed before Cannon could even reach the group of women.

Piper was in the outer circle with Shaw and Mia.

Shaw saw her brother coming and started running her mouth.

We couldn’t hear her from where we were, but she always had the exact same look when she was giving him a hard time.

Whatever she said had Piper turning in time to shimmy against Cannon.

His hands went straight to her ass and they rocked together for a few beats, and we all counted down the seconds.

It took a count of eight before he was bent in half and limping his way back to us.

Jamie pocketed the pile of twenties, chortling with laughter.

“See? I told you she’d get him hard but not take too long away from the girls.

Maximum damage with minimum time wasted. ”

Cannon was still coughing when he got back to us. Dropping down into his seat, he took the new beer his brother-in-law handed over and then dumped the ice bucket on his lap. A few cubes landed on me.

“You’re an idiot.”

“Lesson learned,” he wheezed.

“You said that last time, man,” Jagger said. “That lesson just isn’t sticking.”

“I can’t help it. Her ass hypnotizes me!” he groaned, sinking deeper into the couch.

“We have movement on the opposite side,” Jordan announced, sitting up straighter. I was almost on my feet when he spoke again. “Wait, never mind. It’s just the other guys.”

Spotting Sixx and Bentley, I straightened fully.

They’d been sitting with Braxton and Barrick on the other side of the dance floor, along with Damien and a few other guys.

It was louder on that side since it was closer to the bar, but according to Barrick, it had a better angle.

Just in case. No one ever said what the hell that meant—the possibilities were endless.

People were fucked in the head, and my family attracted some of the sickest.

Sixx and Bentley joined the girls without encountering the same issue Cannon did. They both danced for a minute before taking Ali and Charlotte with them when they left, heading for the exit. The girls paused to look back and waved one more time.

Sutton and Hayat both returned the wave, my girl’s face alight with joy as she continued dancing. I couldn’t stay away after that, even at the risk of having my balls shoved up into my throat.

I didn’t hear anyone making bets when I walked away, which was a good sign. First Bass was overflowing with patrons that I had to weave through and around to get to my goal. More than once, someone tried to stop me. I pretended not to hear them, which was the better option. For them.

Shaw saw me first, her smile considerably sweeter in comparison to the version she’d given her brother earlier.

She shifted, making room for me to slip between her and Mia.

The next circle was harder to break through.

Heavenleigh and Bliss were dancing with Arella and Nevaeh.

As angelic as those four sisters might appear, they were a wall of pure chaos.

Bliss threw her hair back, dancing like she didn’t see me, turning her body so she blocked me every time I tried to squeeze through.

Finally, I found the weak link. Picking up Nevaeh, I placed her directly in front of Mia, who was laughing her ass off. Turning, I found Vi directly in front of me, and I froze. “Don’t make me have to move you, Vi.”

“Fine,” she whined, thankfully stepping aside. “We were going to take a break after this song anyway.”

Sutton was still dancing with Hayat. Heavenleigh and Bliss had moved closer to them, forgetting about me as they enjoyed themselves. I moved in behind my girl, my hands going to her hips and pulling her back against my front.

Ah, fuck.

Perfection. She fit against me like she was made specifically for me, her sweet body still moving to the music, her hips tilting and shaking to the beat until she finally felt my cock pulse against her ass.

Instead of stiffening, she melted into me.

A choked groan was torn from me. Dropping my head, I kissed her bare shoulder and was rewarded with the feel of her shiver.

“Time to go home, baby,” I husked against her ear. She didn’t argue.

Keeping one hand at her waist, I turned us in the direction of the exit, but of course, it wasn’t that easy.

Violet and Shaw were there to say goodnight.

Hayat hugged her, as did Heavenleigh and Bliss.

Fuck, I was never going to get rid of those two now.

I had a suspicion that I was stuck with them, with how close they had gotten with Sutton already.

Which was a good thing for my girl. I could deal with my annoying cousins for her.

“Wait, I want a hug too!” Piper announced, stepping forward. She embraced Sutton gently, pausing to whisper something to her that made Sutton smile and nod.

“Text me later!” Bliss shouted when I tried to back away from them again.

“Don’t forget about Taco Tuesday!” Heavenleigh yelled loud enough to be heard over the music.

“Can’t wait,” Sutton replied, laughing.

“Get plenty of rest. You’re going to do amazing tomorrow,” Violet told her, walking with us toward the exit.

She hugged Sutton one more time, her smile reminding me so much of our mom that I didn’t complain at the continued delay.

Then my sister turned to me. “Be safe on the drive home. Love you both!”

Outside, we had to wait for the valet to bring my car.

I tucked Sutton against me without shielding her from the mob of photographers across the street.

They were always there, clicking away like they needed every picture to pay their rent.

I kept my hand on Sutton’s ass, smirking right at one of the parasites.

For once, I wanted them to get as many pictures as they could, so they could tell the world that she was mine.

“That was so much fun,” Sutton gushed, not seeming to notice the flashing lights and screaming paparazzi. She was still buzzing from dancing all night with her friends. “Oh yeah, I’m supposed to go to brunch with Hayat on Sunday. She insisted. Ali and Charlotte are coming too.”

“Gods, do we have to?” I groaned, making her laugh.

“Yes! I promised. They said their guys are going to be there, so you’ll have plenty of people to talk to.”

“Fine, but only because brunch with Hayat is always interesting. And Sixx would probably kill us in our sleep if we didn’t show and it made Ali cry.” She laughed harder, causing me to shake my head. I wasn’t about to tell her that I wasn’t joking and risk scaring her away.
