Chapter 10 #2
Before drifting off to sleep, she thought about what she’d overheard from those women that day. They hadn’t been wrong about Cobra Masters’s skills in the bedroom. If this was him not having sex, she couldn’t help wondering how incredible it could be if they did.
Just thinking about that made her smile.

Hours later, Cobra climbed into bed, his body thrumming with a sharp, unsatisfied ache that settled deep in his lower extremities.
At the same time, he felt a sense of pride settle in his chest. He’d given Desiree a night to remember.
And she deserved it. Tonight, bringing her pleasure had meant more to him than experiencing his own.
He could wait for that, though, after tonight, it would be even more torturous for him.
He closed his eyes, remembering the sound of Desiree scream his name and seeing her come apart in his arms. And she looked beautiful while doing it.
What was even more powerful was the way their gazes had connected at the exact moment an orgasm had coursed through her, right before she had closed her eyes in what seemed like unaltered bliss.
And the kiss they had shared tonight, the one he hadn’t wanted to end, had proven just how incredibly hot she was. She had matched his kiss, stroke for stroke. Had claimed his tongue as hers, just as he had claimed hers.
A few weeks ago, she had mentioned a former lover and how sexually incompatible they’d been. He hoped she knew now that that wouldn’t be the case with them, that what they shared tonight was a prelude of how things would be with them.
And the thought that he had lain in bed with her in his arms afterwards, fully clothed.
That had been a first for him, but he had needed that time with her while her body returned to some semblance of normalcy after being transported beyond the stars.
His chest expanded at knowing that he had been the one to take her there.
His phone rang, and Cobra recognized the caller. Grabbing his cell phone off the nightstand, he answered it. “You’re calling rather late, aren’t you, Landon?”
He heard his friend’s chuckle. “I couldn’t sleep, so I figured I would bother you.”
“What’s keeping you up?”
“Alexia, Raejean, and Brandy are in town for Taye’s birthday. Monica and all the other female Bennett cousins joined them to celebrate. Whenever Monica goes out without me, I can’t sleep until I know she’s back home, safe and sound.”
Alexia, Raejean, Brandy, and Taye were Monica’s older cousins who had acted as mentors to the younger generation of female Bennetts.
Landon continued, “Besides, I wanted to wrap up that report you hired me to get on Allison Desiree Sharpe. Expect to receive it the middle of next week. I will text you with the tracking information.”
Cobra had forgotten all about the report. “Sounds good.”
“Are you ready for the Masters Family Reunion next weekend? Of course, Monica and I are coming.”
“Then I guess I’ll be seeing you then.”
“Are you bringing anyone?”
Cobra frowned. His brothers had asked him the same question earlier in the week. “I’ve never brought anyone to the family reunion, and I’m not starting now.”
And because he figured Landon knew about the bet, he added, “The last thing I need is for my brothers to think they’re going to win our bet.”
Now that Colton had returned from his honeymoon, he was making a nuisance of himself by calling every day to check on him. With three months left to go, his brothers were getting nervous about the possibility of losing.
“If you say so. I saw how you were holding on to Allison Sharpe at Colton’s wedding.”
Cobra rolled his eyes. “Goodnight, Landon. I’ll look forward to getting that report next week.”
“Okay. I’ll text you when to expect it.”
After ending the call, Cobra settled into a comfortable position in bed.
His family and friends had it all wrong if they assumed something serious was going on between him and Desiree.
Granted, he intended to sleep with her, but that was after his period of self-imposed celibacy was over and not before.
Now, if he could only convince his libido to hold on until satisfaction day, he would make sure it was well worth the wait.

“Kassie, do you realize what you’re saying?” Léandre Beauchamp asked his sister. He had placed her call on speaker while he moved around the cabin.
“I know exactly what I’m suggesting, Dre. It’s about time you let Camille know how you feel about her.”
“I can’t do that.”
“Why not?”
“I might lose her friendship, and I couldn’t handle it if that were to happen.”
“You won’t lose anything. The two of you have been best friends forever. But anyone with eyes can see that there’s more to it. I’ve seen how the two of you watch each other when you think no one is looking. She has it as bad for you as you have it for her.”
He wished like hell that was true. “I doubt that.”
“Well, I don’t. You’ve finished the script and still have two and a half weeks left to spend at the cabin. I think you should invite her to join you. You never know. Once you’re in close proximity, you might realize there is more between the two of you than friendship.”
Léandre rolled his eyes. “There is, and it’s all on my side.”
“I honestly don’t think that’s the case, Dre. And don’t you owe it to yourself to find out the truth once and for all?”
He released a deep sigh as he looked around.
The cabin had plenty of room—three bedrooms, each with its own bath, a huge eat-in kitchen, living room, dining room, and a huge entertainment loft.
All the windows had beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains.
If he invited her here, he knew Camille would love it.
And the place was so big, she could have all the privacy she wanted. If she wanted it…
Kassie had discovered his secret: he was hopelessly in love with Camille. His sister had happened upon a book of poems he had written for Camille but never given to her. When she’d questioned him about it, he’d admitted the truth. And she hadn’t left him alone since.
“Fine, I’ll do it. But if you’re wrong and I lose Camille as a friend, I’ll never speak to you again.”
Kassie chuckled. “You’re my older brother, so you have to talk to me. But don’t worry. You won’t lose her. And after all these years, I’ll finally get to claim her as a real sister. Now, what are you going to say to get her here? It has to sound convincing.”
It was time to end this. Otherwise, she’d plan out his whole life for him. “Goodbye, Kassie.”
“Goodbye, Big Brother.”
After ending the call with his sister, Léandre decided to call Camille…while he still had the nerve to do it.
