Chapter 16
Sixteen
Brady
We left the clinic in a buoyant mood. A tablet once a day felt like too simple a fix for something I’d held onto for so long.
“Let’s pick up your meds now,” Xavier suggested. “You can start taking them right away. Just in time for your heat.”
“Are you sure you want this?”
Xavier drew me close, wrapping his arms around me. “I want everything with you. Let’s start with a baby. You can move in now if you want, or wait until we’re sure everything is going well.” He looked unusually flustered. “I’d get down on one knee right now if I didn’t think you’d run off.”
I snuggled close, taking a big sniff of his cologne and pheromones. Both were so familiar and soothing to me now. “No big scenes. I am not a public proposal guy.”
“Noted.” Xavier kissed the top of my head before taking my hand and leading me to a pharmacy.
The medication didn’t take long to be processed, which I was grateful for since we both had to get to work.
“Read all the info before you take one, okay?” he said before we parted.
Our offices were only a few blocks apart, so he usually took me to work in the mornings.
Not having the commute on the bus or subway cut my travel time by a lot.
It meant more time with Xavi. Another win.
Work was busy, but there was time for me to read through the packet information about the medication.
The side effects were pretty simple: headaches, digestive problems, nausea, and insomnia.
I was only supposed to take it until the day of my heat, though.
The side effects weren’t that bad if it meant I’d get pregnant at the end of it.
Sure enough, I was bothered by headaches, but I struggled through them, living life almost normally with Xavier there to help me make dinner, or give me a massage after a rough day.
I was glad we were getting this time as a couple before my heat and potential pregnancy.
Our relationship had been messy since the day we met.
Still, I didn’t regret it. Going through all that with Xavier had taught me a lot about myself while learning what I wanted in a partner. Xavier was literally my ideal alpha.
My heat landed on a Saturday, luckily. Though I had work mandated time off for heats, I didn’t like to take it if I could avoid it. Unlike some omegas, my heats were shorter, often lasting only a night. I didn’t know how long this one would last with the medication, so I’d asked for Monday off too.
Usually, I would wake with a low fever and a feeling of restlessness. This time, I woke before dawn, absolutely drenched in sweat!
Next to me, Xavier moved, his arm reaching out as if he were searching for me.
I lay back down next to him and let him draw me close.
His lips found my neck, his large hand swept over my chest and tweaked my nipple.
I gasped, my hole growing slick as my cock hardened. The first wave was nearly on me.
Xavier turned me until I was on my side and pressed up against my back, his cock wedged in the cleft of my ass. “Hmm,” he murmured, “You’re already so wet. I wonder if you’re still open from last night.”
We’d gone to bed the night before after a lazy night in front of the TV. Xavier had wrung two orgasms from me, then we’d fallen asleep. I still had his come inside me. I think I’d actually fallen asleep still on his knot.
He rocked his hips, teasing the head of his cock over my wet hole until I pushed back against him and he slid inside.
He held me close as we moved together, his mouth hot on my scent gland.
Every thrust sent me higher and higher. “More. Harder,” I begged, clutching at his hands.
He tweaked my nipples, rolling the hard buds with clever fingers.
His lips moved from my gland to my ear. “I can feel your womb already. Fuck, it’s sucking me in!” He bit down on my ear with a growl. Fuck, that was hot!
I cried out in a mix of pleasure and pain, my orgasm so close. Then I felt it. No, it couldn’t be. There was no way it was already opening this early in my heat.
With another deep thrust, I felt him breach my womb. Ecstasy rolled through me as I came over and over. Xavier gripped my hips and ground his knot deep into me as he filled me with his release.
We lay there for a long time, Xavier’s arms around me, his knot deep in my ass. All I could focus on was my heavy breaths and his cock. I already felt mindless from my heat. The burn inside me had waned somewhat, but it was still a simmer in the back of my mind.
My pheromones rose like a cloud around us in response to that desperate need for my alpha to breed me.
His knot had barely gone down before Xavier was pushing me onto my belly. He yanked my hips up off the bed and plunged his cock back inside me. “Fuck!” I yelled. The angle hit me just right, each pass teased my prostate and punched into my womb.
Over and over he thrust into me, his hands a brand on my hips. I gripped the mattress and arched my back, taking it all. The friction of the sheet on my dick with each snap of his hips was incredible! I was so close without touching myself.
When he came, he slumped over me and gently bit at my scent gland. The pressure of his weight, the feel of him deep inside me, and the stimulation to the gland were enough to send me over the edge.
There was a brief reprieve where my heat sank low enough for us to wash up and drink some juice. Xavier tried to get me to eat, but between the urgency of my heat and the effects of the medication, I felt like it was a bad idea.
Xavier kept a close eye on me for the rest of my heat.
It barely lasted a day, with the last wave just as the sun went down.
I rode him slowly, really savoring the feeling of him deep inside me.
We’d been so frantic all day, I knew I had to slow things down and really enjoy being with him.
Xavier threaded our fingers together as I leaned over him to kiss him.
After all this time, his kiss still made my heart race.
On and on I rose and fell over him until sweat covered my body and my legs cramped. Xavi gave me a devilish grin. He clasped my waist and pumped up into me as I snuggled my face against his throat. I worked a hand between us and stroked myself in time to his thrusts and came with him minutes later.
I lay on him, so boneless I didn’t think I could move ever again.
“Is your heat over?” Xavi asked in a husky voice. One glance at his face told me how exhausted he was. Once I recovered, my alpha needed pampering.
“Yeah. I hope…”
“Me too.” He was quiet for a long time. His hands rubbed up and down my back, soothing overworked muscles. “Whatever happens, I’m here. We’ve got the doctor now.”
“I know.” I glanced up at him. “Come shower with me?”
“Of course.”
Proving he was the best alpha ever, Xavier washed every inch of me under the warm spray and dried me off after.
I brushed my teeth at the sink while he quickly cleaned himself off and wrapped a towel around his waist. He made me sit on a chair while he changed the sheets and helped me climb into bed.
Every part of me was exhausted and heavy.
We took Sunday to recover with neither of us moving further than the front door to get our food deliveries. Xavier had found this amazing pancake place that delivered and made sure to get me a stack with strawberries and raspberries piled high.
While I probably could have gone back to work, I kept Monday off to spend some time with Xavier without work hanging over us. We went to the pool where I worked the last of the soreness out in the water.
In the back of my mind, I held onto Dr. Glover’s words and kept optimistic about what my heat would bring.
Curtis and Jae opted to have their bachelor parties together—because they were like that—and held them a few weeks before the wedding. The event was a low key bash with greasy pub food, lots of cocktails, and karaoke.
The vibe was chill, with everyone telling stories about the grooms and getting to know each other better. Ricky, Curtis’ dad, and Minjun, Jae’s dad, were the first to take a shot at singing. They were pretty decent.
As best man, I had to be there to ensure everyone had a great time.
Sadly, Marty couldn’t make it. His pregnancy was harder than he’d expected, and there was drama with his mate.
I felt so bad for the other omega. Already a single dad, and being sick during pregnancy was a lot to deal with.
He had Curtis and Ricky to support him, at least.
Not letting Marty’s illness put a damper on their spirits, Jae and Curtis played a few games of pool together.
They were freaking adorable. Curtis couldn’t stop touching Jae for one second.
Jae’s eyes were always on his big alpha, and he encouraged him to order another plate of wings when Curtis said they looked good.
There was so much love between them anyone could have seen it.
“Do you think we’ll be like that in a couple of years?”
“Yeah, I do.”
“Shot!” one of Curtis’ employees called out when Curtis dipped his soon to be husband.
Xavier took two off the tray and downed them quickly, setting an empty glass in front of me.
To anyone paying attention, our act wouldn’t fool them, but everyone else had been drinking for hours and hadn’t noticed that I hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol.
All my drinks were virgin, just in case. Though there was little evidence drinking this early in pregnancy would do any harm, I didn’t want to risk it. We wouldn’t know for another week if I was, it was more of a feeling.
I settled into Xavi’s side with a contented sigh.
Jae had insisted I bring Xavi because he wanted to get to know him better, which was sweet of him.
Over the last few weeks, he’d made a real effort to get to know my alpha.
Xavi had also come to some wedding planning meetings, though he usually ended up entertaining Leo instead of taking part.
When asked, he always offered up an opinion, proving he was paying attention.
I knew Jae liked him when they sat together in Jae’s kitchen one Saturday afternoon and discussed art.
Jae was so impressed with the collection Xavi had amassed, and my boyfriend praised Jae for his keen eye.
“Hey, I need my best man!” Jae called, karaoke book in hand. “Come, sing with me!”
“Oh, this is going to be good!” Xavi teasingly pushed me off him towards my best friend. “I’ll sing with you next, okay?”
“Only if you sing with Curtis then. Alphas versus omegas: Duet Battle!” I giggled.
Xavier pinched my chin and drew me close to brush his lips against mine. “Deal.”
So Jae may have looked like one of those K-pop idols, but his voice didn’t live up to his image. I was okay after years of singing choir at church before my parents finally let me stop going. Xavier was straight up bad, it was almost painful. Curtis? Well, the man had pipes!
I sang with Xavier and tried not to wince when he didn’t land the note he was going for.
It was cute how hard he tried. Curtis and Jae sang, looking at each other the entire time, so adorable.
Then I got Xavi and Jae to sing together.
Freaking hilarious! The pair could barely get through the song without dissolving into laughter.
“C’mon, it’s our turn,” Curtis urged, holding a hand out to me. By the time we got to our second verse, we had the whole bar singing along with us.
Jae watched his man with pure love in his eyes, and there in Xavier’s expression I saw the same love shining just for me.
