To you, waiting on the cliff still,
You who have my heart and pain, I wish I could sit beside you a bit more and never tell you about the mistakes, the fear and the heartbreak. I’d tell you about him. I tried to draw him once, but couldn’t get his face right, so I started with his hands.
That’s how I’d describe him the best. The way his touch always made you feel safe, brushes and fingertips that always found your trembling hands.
You don’t know him yet I know you think you’re difficult to love and stay on the cliff to be alone. I know you decided you’ll never be enough for someone to stay.
You’re wrong and you’re going to meet him.
He’ll make you angry, he’ll make you laugh, he’ll know when you’re lying because he makes sure with him you can be yourself and you’re going to love him.
God, you’re going to love him so much it’ll kill you from the inside. I wish I could tell you that loving him will be enough to keep you safe, that this kind of love always gets a happy ending but I won’t lie to you. Sometimes it’s still not enough.
So, little Mireya, when you meet him don’t be scared. Love him and let him love you. Even if it hurts, even if it’s scary. Let him love you like he will. Let him want you and need you, let him be with you.
Less petals are missing thanks to him.
So, when you’re older, and when you’re going to be me, I hope you’ll understand that some things aren’t meant to last forever, but don’t let that make what you have any less beautiful.
Because you were so loved. So, so loved.
And if I had the chance to go back and warn you about every horrible thing waiting for us, I wouldn’t.
I’d let you open that door, and I’d let you meet him. I’d choose him all over again.
If you still have a wish to make, wish for yourself to be happy. And if I can’t be kind enough to our heart, I’m sure he’ll be. In the meantime, know that I’m with you always.
