Chapter 48

Romival

They were back in their nest and Romival’s mate was sleeping.

He rode her body hard until she passed out from exhaustion. One orgasm was enough to make her tired. Multiple orgasms drained her completely. He had needed to carry her from the scanner and lay her down in their nest – being careful to make sure it was adjusted the way she liked it.

She was pregnant now. She was going to become very picky about such things. It was his job as a good mate to make sure that she was happy.

He had a great deal of information in his recordings from the scanner, but, other than a few quick, teasing glances, he hadn’t looked over them yet.

He had plenty of time to go over every single system and second later. For now, the real thing was right in front of him and no less fascinating to his eyes.

She was still pink, but the color was fading into the glow of her skin in sleep. She was nude, placed atop the blankets, her body practically shimmering in the colored light that was coming down through the glass overhead.

Beautiful and perfect.

And all his.

He placed his hand over her belly, awed by the knowledge that, even now, new life was beginning to bloom inside her.

The egg had been fertilized successfully by the time he turned off the scanner.

It hadn’t implanted in her womb yet, but it was traveling there and, if he scanned her at the right time in the coming days, he might be able to see it happen.

And he would have those days alone, here with his new mate.

He put his arm around her and pulled her close. She slept so deeply, moaning softly even as she turned into him, but she didn't wake.

He laid there and watched her for marks, until she did finally open her eyes.

She caught him staring and laughed, asking if there was something on her face.

He couldn’t quite describe the simple but all-encompassing joy he felt just in watching her.

The way her eyes darted under her lids, the way her body remained limp but warm and glowy, or how she would occasionally take in a deep breath of his scent like she couldn’t live without it.

An endless source of fascination, safe and secure in his arms. His now, forevermore. He didn't have to worry about returning her to her family when he found them.

And he would find them. For his little warrior, he would seek out an unknown world and offer it at her feet.

“I love you, Romi,” she whispered, leaning into him, snuggling close into his warmth.

“Krititori vask seerin ka dinira, vi adassi,” he said back, holding her close. Safe and comfortable.
