Epilogue

Braxton

After spending two fabulous weeks in Turks and Caicos, we’re flying back to Tulsa well relaxed and ready to take on what’s ahead of us on our return. Nyah is curled up on the couch I’m sitting on with her head resting on my lap. I softly stroke her hair as she peacefully slumbers.

As each day passed, I fell more in love with Nyah. Her heartbeat is my heartbeat. Her breath is mine. If she was taken from me, I would move Heaven and Hell to find her and bring down a wrath so deadly it would be like an apocalypse began. Never come between an Alpha and his destined mate.

As I glance at the clouds through the cabin window, my mind replays the events we have been through to get to this point. From both of our Packs we’ve dealt with betrayal, hidden truths, and bonds that will last the test of time. I see each ordeal as stepping stones for us to ascend to greater things.

When Levi suggested I buy a hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma, that was the last thing I wanted to do, but I am so grateful that he pressed me to do so. If I hadn’t, neither one of us would have found our destined mates. It’s funny how fate... or in our case, the Gods have steered our lives, and I am totally thankful.

“Mr. Hillard, we will be landing in less than forty minutes, so you will need to apply your seatbelts soon,” Nita informs, grabbing my attention.

“Thank you, Nita,” I returned.

She politely smiles. “You’re welcome. Can I get you anything in the meantime?”

“Two glasses of champagne will be fine, thank you.”

Nita nods, then asks, “Should I make sure the wolves are prepared for the landing?”

I shake my head. “No, I can do that.”

“Very well, sir.” Nita tries to play it off and remain professional, but I can see the flicker of relief that briefly flashed across her face of not having to go downstairs. While Ballian and Skia have not been aggressive to the staff, their size and animalistic stereotypes still put fear in the others.

As Nita walks back to the head of the cabin, I playfully tickle Nyah’s neck. It takes a few seconds, but she eventually starts to squirm.

“Wake up sleepy head.”

“Have we landed?” Nyah inquires between yawning and stretching.

“Not yet but soon,” I reply as she sits up.

“Okay,” Nyah says through another yawn as she wipes the sleep from her eyes.

Leaning over, I peck her soft lips before standing.

“Where are you going?” Nyah asks, looking up at me with a smirk.

“Downstairs to let Ballian and Skia know that we will be landing shortly so they can stable themselves.” Nyah closes her eyes as I run the back of my hand against her satiny cheek. “I won’t be long. Nita should be back any second with the champagne I ordered for the two of us.”

Walking to the stairs, my mind travels back to our third day at the resort. After everyone at the resort had gotten accustomed to knowing that there were wolves roaming around the premises, they didn’t let that tidbit of information stop their vacation. I even had the maintenance staff post signs around the resort to be aware of wolves crossing. Not something that the guests would expect at a resort in Turks and Caicos but a fair warning that needed to be said.

It was Ballian who suggested that I post the signs. Although neither he nor Skia would intentionally harm anyone, he was adamant about unwelcome touches from humans.

With that in mind, I made sure to have special paths made throughout the resort for just the two of them so they wouldn’t be approached by the resort guests. They were not some type of zoo or circus highlight. If guests were to see the two, it was at dinner time as Nyah, and I sat at the head table with Ballian and Skia by our sides.

I expected a loss from guests wanting refunds but when that didn’t happen, I let nature take its course and business has been booming since.

That night the four of us had dinner in our villa. We ordered room service, then hung out by the pool. When the sun went down, we hit the beach under a cloud free night. Unbeknownst to Nyah or I it was a full moon.

Nyah and I walked hand-in-hand at the edge of the water while Ballian and Skia chased the waves.

“If they start to drown and we have to choose which one to save, it’s going to be Skia,” I laughed.

“I heard that,” Ballian shouts over the waves.

“And I wasn’t trying to hide it either,” Braxton threw back.

“Braxton,” Nyah exclaimed, swatting my arm. “I can’t believe you just said that.”

I shrugged my shoulders, continuing to laugh knowing I would never let anything like that happen to Ballian.

“Well, that’s not how it works,” Nyah said. “You know how to swim, right?”

“You know I do.”

“And because you do, so does Ballian. Same goes with me and Skia. Any abilities’ we have that our destined wolves didn’t have before, they now have and vice versa. I can totally see why Lord Odin put the two of them together. You two bump heads because you are so much alike. Your relationship with Ballian almost reminds me of you and Levi’s except this one is on a deeper level but could never take away from the connection you have with Levi. Those two; Levi and Ballian are who Lord Odin saw fit to stand alongside of you, other than me, of course.”

“Indeed,” I quipped.

We laughed, walking a bit more as a strange sensation started to creep through my very essence. I stopped to face Nyah. Her curious eyes scanned over me as I took her free hand in mine, then kissed her knuckles.

“Do you feel that?” I asked, pulling Nyah close so she could feel my hardening member.

Nyah’s eyes widened as I grinded my hips into hers.

“I feel that and something else,” she purred, caressing my shirt-covered chest. “What are you going to do about it Mr. Hillard?”

I swiftly pick her up, then toss her over my shoulder causing Nyah to let out a fit of laughter.

“Braxton, wait,” she laughed while hitting my back.

“Nope, you asked what I was going to do about it, and I’ve always been a believer of I can show you better than tell you,” I grunted, swatting her firm ass then heading towards the villa.

Ballian happened to look up to see me carrying Nyah away. “Where are you going?”

“To the promised land,” I chuckled.

That night, I took Nyah as many times as she would let me until we collapsed onto the bed and succumbed to a depleted sexual coma.

After that, our staycation nights ended the same way. Ballian and Skia caught on and left us to do their own thing once we were finished with dinner.

“Attention, passengers. We are thirty minutes away from landing. Please begin to secure your seatbelts,” Nita’s voice says through the overhead speakers.

I make haste to the stairs and start going down them. About halfway, I yell, “We’re landing soon, so brace yourselves.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Ballian says back, unseen. “We heard. Now go away.”

That damn destined wolf of mine, I laughed to myself, shaking my head.

“Since you feel that way, then I hope we encounter some turbulence that knocks you on your big ass,” I teased.

Ballian’s deep laughter echoed around the room downstairs.

“And if that happens, then I hope your seatbelt malfunctions causing you to nose dive hard onto the floor resulting in you having two black-eyes and a crooked nose line not even the best cosmetic surgeons can fix.”

My hand went to the bridge of my nose. I’m not vain, but that was pretty harsh of him to say.

Yes, what I said probably would have tossed them around a bit, but I never wanted them to be physically harmed. I was slowly learning not to go tit-for-tat with Ballian.

“Just get ready,” I shouted before going back upstairs.

Nyah held two champagne flutes and offered me one after I retook my seat.

“Are they good down there?”

“They are,” I replied, turning in my seat to face her. Nyah batted her eyes as I smiled from ear-to-ear, taking in her beauty. “I have a surprise for you.”

Nyah beams with enthusiasm. “What kind of surprise? Tell me!”

“Nope. All I can say is that this is something that you wanted, and I am happy to be the one to give it to you,” I said, then leaned over and kissed her soft lips. As I pulled back, I told Nyah, “This will definitely be a day you won’t forget.”

Nyah suspiciously stared at me as I tapped my flute against hers, then entwined my forearm with hers.

“Mmmhmm,” she hummed before we brought the flutes to our lips and took a sip.

Once we landed in Tulsa, a private SUV and an oversized van for Ballian and Skia were waiting for us. Nyah fussed that the four of us could fit into the van, but I wanted to keep us separate. Skia knew about my surprise, so I didn’t want Nyah to mentally interrogate her for answers. If Skia was with Ballian, he could block Nyah. Just one of the tricks we’ve learned since our little vacation.

After some back and forth, Nyah relented before getting into the SUV.

“I’m still trying to understand why we couldn’t ride back to the Pack lands together,” she fussed as we drove off. “There was more than enough room in the van for the four of us. Now, we’re going to have to pay for two services, which is unnecessary if you ask me.”

Resting my hand on her thigh, I calmly retort, “And it might be, but some things are done for a reason.”

“And what reason could this ....” Nyah started to ask, but her words drifted off as she noticed the colorful streamers and decorative ornaments hanging from the trees. My father, Alpha Lightfeather, Momma Willa, Levi and Kenia, along with Elder Nelah and the rest of our Packs stood in front of Alpha Lightfeather’s cabin.

“Braxton, what is all of this?” Nyah questioned.

When the SUV came to a halt, I kissed the side of her neck. “What you asked for,” I answered before opening my door. “I’ll see you at the altar soon, so don’t get cold feet on me. I will chase you to the ends of the world.”

I got out then closed the door before Nyah could respond. I know this was a huge shock for her, but I wanted her to know that I heard everything she said the day before we left for Turks and Caicos. She wanted a wedding, and I was going to give it to her.
