CHAPTER 35
L ogan looked down at her and couldn’t believe she was inside this beautiful woman. Rory’s eyes were closed, and her cheeks were flushed, but she wasn’t blushing right now.
“Oh,” Rory said, just like she always did.
“Yeah?” Logan asked, knowing what that meant in this situation.
Rory was about to come for a second time. The first had been because of Logan’s mouth, but she had climbed on top of her, and after letting Rory taste herself on her lips, Logan had started stroking Rory with her fingers and then slowly pushed inside. Now, she was curling those fingers, and Rory was coming at her touch. There was nothing better than this. Logan hadn’t felt anything from sex in a very long time, but now, she felt everything.
“Oh, my God,” Rory said as she started coming down from her orgasm.
“Are you okay?” Logan asked.
Rory nodded and said, “Yes. Definitely more than okay. Just need a minute.”
“Take your time,” she replied before she leaned down and kissed her.
Rory kissed her back, but it was clear that she was still trying to catch her breath, so Logan pulled out of the kiss and lay on top of her, letting her body press fully to Rory’s.
“Yeah, just stay there,” Rory told her.
Logan laughed and said, “Not going anywhere.”
“You’re staying, right?” Rory asked as her hands moved to Logan’s clammy back and began running up and down.
“Yes,” she replied.
“Good,” Rory said. “Can I do that thing to you?”
“What thing?” Logan asked.
“The thing you did to me first.”
Logan lifted her head and smiled at her.
“You can’t say it, can you?”
“Say what?”
“Tell me what I did to you first,” Logan teased.
“Your mouth.”
“What about my mouth?”
“It was down there.” Rory looked down.
Logan laughed and said, “But can you say what that’s called?”
“It’s called a lot of things, Logan.”
“Name one.”
“Making me come with your mouth.”
“No,” Logan said and continued to laugh.
“I’ve never done it before.”
“I know,” Logan replied. “And I would love for you to do that to me. But if you’re going to do it, you should be able to say it, don’t you think?” She kissed Rory’s nose.
“Fine. Can I… go down on you?”
Logan nodded and said, “Yes. Anytime you want.”
“Right now?”
“I thought you needed a few minutes.”
“Not anymore,” Rory replied, and her eyes were dark. “But will you tell me what you like?”
“I doubt you’ll need any help with that, but yeah,” she replied.
“You would have to roll over,” Rory said.
“Oh,” Logan replied and rolled off, landing on her back next to Rory.
Rory then turned on her side to face her, and Logan ran a hand through her hair, loving how it felt between her fingers.
“If you don’t like it, you just stop, okay?”
“You think I won’t like it?” Rory asked.
“You’ve never done it before. I don’t know.”
“Trust me, I know.” Rory moved until she was back on top of Logan. “I will definitely like it. I licked my fingers earlier when you weren’t looking.”
“You did what ?” she asked. “Why did you do it when I wasn’t looking? Do you have any idea how sexy that is, Rory?”
“I didn’t know if I should, but I wanted to,” she replied. Then, Logan felt fingers between her legs, and Rory’s hand appeared near her mouth. “Should I do it again?”
Logan nodded rapidly and let her jaw drop open. Rory was tentative at first, but then she opened her mouth and slid three fingers inside it, closing her lips around them and tasting Logan.
“Oh, fuck,” Logan let out.
“See? I like it,” Rory replied after pulling the fingers out.
“Me too.”
Rory kissed her, and Logan almost didn’t want to let her go when she started moving lower, but she wanted this. God, she needed it. It had been a long time since another woman had touched her like this, and she wanted Rory’s mouth on her. When Rory made her first tentative lick, Logan jerked and knew she wouldn’t last. It had been too long. Her body craved it and the release that would come along with it.
“Yes, I love it,” Rory said before she started sucking.
Logan had been watching her, but her eyes closed on their own, and she let Rory take her over the edge. She was resolved not to cry this time because she’d already done that once tonight. When she came, it was with Rory’s hand over her heart, and Logan clasped it there, holding it in place with her own until she came down all the way. They stayed like that, with Rory’s hand over her heart and her head resting on Logan’s thigh, for a long time while Logan continued to run her fingers through Rory’s hair.
“Want to order that dinner now?” Rory asked.
Logan burst out laughing and said, “Really?”
“Well, if we eat now, we’ll have plenty of energy to do this again after. Besides, the place you ordered from before closes in an hour.”
Logan continued to laugh until they walked naked into the living room to find her phone. She picked it up off the couch, where Rory immediately straddled her again.
“Want to do it out here before the food arrives?”
“Yes,” Logan replied. Like she’d ever say no to sex with Rory now that she knew how good it was to do this with her. “Just give me ten seconds and–”
Rory’s hands were moving into Logan’s hair.
“What’s wrong?”
“My mom,” Logan said, staring at her screen. “I have a missed call from her.”
“Oh. Really?”
“Yeah, from ten minutes ago.”
“Did she leave a message?”
“No.”
“You should call her back,” Rory said. “I can order the food. Want to go in the bedroom for some privacy?”
“No, we’re going to eat and… do other things. I can call her tomorrow.”
“Logan, it’s your mom,” Rory said and kissed her forehead. “Call her.”
She then went to climb off Logan’s lap, and Logan’s eyebrows lifted as she stared at the very naked Rory Winter standing in front of her.
“Will you lie here with me?” she asked.
“You don’t want to be alone?”
“No,” Logan said, shaking her head.
She moved to lie down on the sofa, and Rory seemed to understand. She climbed half on top of her, wrapping her arm over Logan’s stomach.
“I’m here,” she said and kissed Logan’s cheek.
“She probably won’t even answer. I’ll just leave another message.”
“Your heart is racing,” Rory noted, placing a hand over it again. “I’ll protect it, okay?”
Logan teared up at that, wondering where these tears were coming from. Then, she dialed, put the phone to her ear, and waited.
“Logan?”
“Mom?” she asked.
“It went to voicemail.”
“I know. I’m sorry. I was with Rory.”
“Who’s Rory?”
Logan smiled and replied, “My girlfriend.”
“Oh, yeah. You said that in your message.”
“Yeah. So, how are you?” Logan asked.
“Your father and I are fine,” her mom replied briskly.
“That’s good,” Logan said.
“You’re going to meetings?”
“Yes.”
“Regularly? Not like last time?”
“Every day. Sometimes, twice.”
“And you have a job?”
“Yes,” she said. “Bartending.”
“And that’s not a problem?”
“I don’t have a problem with alcohol.”
“But it’s the same thing; addiction.”
“I’m not an alcoholic. It’s really okay. I like it.”
“Okay,” her mom replied. “So, Rory?”
“Yes.” Logan smiled. “She’s right here, actually.”
“She’s with you now?”
“Yeah. We were about to order dinner.”
“It’s late, Logan,” her mom pointed out.
Logan laughed a little and replied, “I know. We got off work late.”
“You shouldn’t be eating dinner so late.”
“I know, Mom.”
“Your father went out on a job,” her mom shared. “He should be back soon, so I should let you go.”
“Oh,” Logan let out. “He doesn’t know you called me?”
“No, I called after he left.”
“Right.”
“I’ll tell him when he gets home.”
“Okay,” she said.
“Logan?”
“Yeah, Mom?”
Her mother cleared her throat then and said, “Well, you know.” She sighed. “I’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay,” Logan said.
A second later, her mom hung up, and Logan was left wondering if her mother had been about to tell her that she loved her. Rory’s hand pressed down, reminding Logan that she was there.
“How are you?”
“I love you,” Logan told her instead.
Rory’s hand stiffened.
“I want you to know that even if it’s too soon. It’s important. I feel it. I love you. I don’t expect you to say it back. I just need you to know that you’re it , Rory. My mom didn’t say it just now, and I don’t know if she was going to or if she still loves me after all the shit that I put her through, but I want you to always know. I love you.”
Rory shifted to look down at her and said, “She’s your mom, Logan. She loves you. No matter what you do, she’ll always love you, babe.”
Logan nodded and cupped Rory’s cheek.
“And I love you , too,” Rory added. “I was afraid I’d scare you off if I said it.”
“Really?” Logan asked.
Rory nodded and said, “How could I not? You’re you. I never met old Logan, as you like to call her, but I love who you are now, and everything you’ve done, good or bad, has led you here to me. It’s all part of who you are, and I love who you are.”
“Want to order food and make love on this couch?”
“Yes,” Rory said with a fervent nod.
◆◆◆
“Rory, it’s my night off. Candace actually told me she was closing the bar for the night. Why are we going in?”
“Because,” Rory said. “She asked me to, and you were with me.”
“We were busy,” Logan said as Rory pulled her by the hand toward the bar.
Logan looked up and saw the fortune teller, whom they’d previously seen on the sidewalk, staring at them again and smiling. When Rory got to the door of the bar and pulled it open, Logan just smiled back at the woman, wondering if she’d been right all along.
“Finally,” Candace said the moment they walked into the door.
“Finally?” Rory asked. “You called me an hour ago, and we were having sex, so you’re lucky–”
“Rory!” Logan laughed.
“Just another reason to say, ‘Finally,’” Candace replied. “Very happy for both of you about the sex thing, but I am engaged.”
She held up her hand and showed off her new ring.
“He proposed?” Rory asked.
“He did. This morning. He told me he had this whole thing planned, but he got the call that he got the job he wanted when we were in here, setting up for the night, and he just got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. Rory, I’m engaged!”
Rory let go of Logan’s hand, pulled her best friend into a hug, and said, “Congrats! Yes, this is a finally moment.”
“Thank you!”
“Congratulations,” Logan said from behind them.
“Congrats on the sex,” Candace replied.
“Thanks?” Logan asked more than said.
Rory laughed and said, “I am very happy for both of us. You and Keith are getting married, and Logan and I are…”
“Having sex, apparently.”
Logan turned around and saw Enid walking in. This was the woman who hadn’t kissed Rory back, and while Logan was grateful for that, she still didn’t understand how someone could not kiss Rory back.
“Hey. What are you doing here?” Rory asked her as she snaked an arm around Logan’s waist and leaned into her.
“Candace called me and said she had news.”
“I do. I’m engaged.”
The whole hug and congratulations thing started over again.
“Call everyone, Rory. Or, text them. Drinks are on Keith and me tonight,” Candace said. “This place is closed because we’re celebrating. I don’t think I’ll get another night off until the wedding, so I want to enjoy this one. I’m going to call a few people, too. It’ll be an impromptu engagement party, but I still want a real engagement party with gifts, to be clear.”
Rory laughed and burrowed into Logan’s side.
“I know we were in the middle of something before, but can we finish it later?” she whispered.
“Yes. And every night after this, if you want,” Logan said.
“See if Ava wants to come with that new woman she’s dating.”
“Oh, I’m sure she wants to come with her,” she joked.
Rory shifted to pull out her phone and text everyone about the engagement party. As she did that, Logan thought about how she would need to start saving money. Candace was showing off her ring to Enid, and Logan knew she’d be buying one of those for Rory in a year or two. She also wanted to move out of that apartment as soon as she could. She’d look into getting back to the job she used to love part-time while she still bartended for Candace. That would help, and eventually, she would make good enough money to be able to buy Rory that ring and, maybe, a small house somewhere close by.
“You look deep in thought,” Rory noted.
“Just thinking about stuff.”
“Care to share?”
“That it’s nice to have things to look forward to again,” she replied and cupped Rory’s cheek, which was something she loved doing. “And that if we’re stealthy enough, we can probably sneak out of here when everyone arrives and have a moment of our own.”
“Moment?”
“Storage closet in the back room,” Logan suggested for later and kissed her. “You had your hands in my underwear right when Candace called. I need you, babe.”
“I’m going to show Enid the new sign I got out front and call the pizza place. I’m getting everyone food! We’ll need it if we’re going to drink half this bar to celebrate the fact that he finally asked me!” Candace yelled a little in excitement.
“Now,” Rory said.
“Now what?” Logan asked.
“Storage closet,” Rory replied. “While she’s distracted.”
Logan laughed as they hurried through the door to the kitchen, where Rory yanked open the closet door and pulled Logan inside.
“Hey,” Logan said softly as she ran a hand into Rory’s hair.
“Yeah?” Rory asked, unbuttoning Logan’s jeans.
“Tonight, just have fun. Don’t think about those twelve jobs you have or school or anything else, okay? Just be with your friends and enjoy yourself.”
“I was planning on it,” Rory replied as she slipped her hand inside Logan’s underwear. “And I don’t have twelve jobs.” She stroked Logan’s clit, which was still hard from their unfinished business not all that long ago.
“Is it thirteen now? Did you get a new one I don’t know about?”
Rory laughed a little and stroked her harder.
