Chapter 2

Chapter Two

Josie

Two Weeks Postpartum

“Ahh!” Monty screeches, “mayday, mayday! I've been hit!”

I can't help the uncontrollable laughter that comes from me as Monty tries to dodge the stream of urine that's currently flying from our son onto him.

I don't think it dawns on him to close the diaper up again, based on the frantic movements he makes before throwing a wipe over Hayes then looking down at his shirt.

“No fair little man! Why you gotta do me dirty like that?” He peels the shirt away from his body before letting it fall back into place.

A look of discomfort flashes over his face, a moment later he reaches behind his back and pulls off his shirt and tosses it toward the bedroom door. Then he goes back to the task at hand.

I take the moment to appreciate the back of my husband's body. I watch as his shoulder muscles move with the movements of him changing Hayes’ diaper.

After all these years, Monty has aged like fine wine. The hard labor of his job has kept himself fit, but he's never had defined edges of hard muscle. His body has always had some cushion.

Monty turns around with a tired looking Hayes in his arms. A big yawn escapes from his little mouth as Monty places him in my arms. Settling his head into my elbow I begin to rock in the chair, humming “you are my sunshine” as I wait for sleep to take him.

Hayes is out in no time flat, and Monty is there to transfer him into his crib.

I move to turn on the white noise machine, grabbing the monitor as I walk to the door.

Monty reaches down and grabs his dirty shirt on the way out.

Instead of heading back to the living room I follow Monty into our bedroom.

Monty has taken on so much since I got home.

While my c-section wasn't in the plans for my delivery he has taken on the adjustment with stride.

I couldn't have done it without him. I know he's stressed about going back to work and leaving me here, but I'm sure I'll be fine, I think about asking Harper to work from home over here.

Although, I'm not sure if that's asking too much of Xavier's new girl.

I love Harper, she's so perfect for Xavier and he deserves all the love and support. She calms him when he's in his head. Which is something Monty and myself have spent years helping him with. She does it so effortlessly, and I can see the way she looks at him. I'm happy for my friend.

An idea sparks as I watch Monty head to the dresser. We won't always have an opportunity of this alone time, where Hayes is sleeping and Shiloh is entertained by other people.

I strike before Monty knows what happens.

“Wait,” I stop him before he pulls his shirt on. “I think you got some on your jeans too.” I quickly walk over so he can't move far.

He looks down to try and find the wet spot on his jeans. There isn't one, I just needed an excuse to get close. Standing in front of him I begin to undo his belt, followed by the button until finally lowering his zipper.

“What–” a hiss leaves him as I slip my hand down his briefs before he can continue his sentence and run my hand down his cock. He leans back and rests his ass on the dresser.

“You've been so good to me while I've been healing,” looking up I drag my tongue along his jaw before reaching his ear.

He's slightly taller than me but with him leaning back I'm able to get to my destination with ease.

“Let me show you how much I appreciate you.” Nipping at his ear before I lean back to look down.

I watch as his cock springs free from his briefs, half hard.

Growing harder with every stroke, thrusting his hips forward. Monty groans, which I silence with my other hand. “Shh, be quiet.”

His brown eyes are blown as he stares me down. His hot breath fans across my hand. A smile curves on my face as I watch my husband turn to putty.

Removing my hand from his mouth, I lean forward and spit onto his cock, using my hand to move the liquid all around his shaft.

Moving my hand up and twisting slightly at the tip before running it back down.

His eyes flutter closed, head falling back.

I dive in and begin licking and sucking at his neck.

A whimper escapes him, that noise alone gets my heart rate racing. Reminding me of all the fun times we’ve had together all these years. Monty was my first, and he’s my forever. As we got older and more comfortable in our relationship we started experimenting, figuring out what we each like.

“You know I love when you make those noises for me, Husband.” Panting in his ear, as I continue to stroke him. “But I don’t want to hear a peep out of you.”

“Fuck, you’re evil.” He gasps as he buries his head in my neck.

He’s so close.

“You’re doing so good for me,” I praise him, “taking care of me and our boys. Making sure I can heal. You’re such a good dad to our boys.”

“Fuu-ck” his breath hitches half way through the word, and I know he’s right on the edge.

“Come for me husband, let me have it.”

His whole body shudders, his hips jerking forward as he begins to spill all over my hand. His warm cum covers my skin and the space between us. A whispered curse leaves his mouth right before he removes his head from my neck and slams his lips onto mine.

The kiss is hot and demanding, I try to push him further but he tears his mouth away from mine with a shuddered breath.

“You’re fucking trouble.” His chuckle comes out breathy and raw, showing no seriousness to his tone. He leans forward, pecking my lips before he tucks himself back in his briefs. “Wait here.”

He steps around me heading to the main bathroom door that’s connected to our room. He returns with a warm cloth to clean us up and we both quickly change.

Returning to the living room we are met with a devilish smirk from Xavier as he stands there in the middle of the room with his arms across his chest.

“I see we did a wardrobe change while we were back there–did things get messy?”

“Xavier!” Harper hisses at him.

Monty walks over to Xavier and shrugs his shoulders. “Little man pissed all over my shirt, I wasn’t going to come back out here with pee on me.” In the next moment Monty wraps his arm around Xavier’s neck and tries to drag him down to the ground.

The two men begin to wrestle on the ground like children, all while Shiloh is hooting and cheering on the match. My heart swells at the happiness of the moment. Walking around the couch, I sit down beside Harper while Shiloh runs and jumps on top of the guys.

“They’re ridiculous” I comment, shaking my head as a smile spreads across my face.

Looking over I see the look in Harper’s face. That’s the face of a girl who’s going to jump her man as soon as they walk through the door of their house. I don’t blame her. The first time I saw Monty with a kid I damn near threw out my birth control and told him to put a baby in me.

Once the guys settle down, we decide to order pizza.

It’s well after nine p.m. when Monty comes down from the hallway after putting Shiloh to bed. Our son is famous for prolonging bedtime, and it’s something we’ve been working on. I’ve got Hayes on my breast giving him one of the last feedings for the night.

Unlatching him, I snap back my bra into place. I sit Hayes up into a burping position and pat his back until a loud burp sounds.

“For such a small thing, he sure does burp loud.” Harper comments with a soft smile on her face.

I chuckle as I wipe the spit up from his mouth that came after the burp. “You’d be surprised by the loud noises that come from such a small thing.” Giving him a once over I look back to Harper, “did you want to hold him?”

Harper’s head nods enthusiastically as she gets up and takes him from my arms. She begins to rock him and walk around the area of the living room as she talks to him.

“So Monty,” Harper starts, “Xavier was telling me that you were thinking about a nanny for when you go back to work?”

“What?” I say, my eyes finding my husband. He’s rubbing the back of his neck and looking sheepish.

“Uh, yeah. I was considering it, but I was going to discuss it with Josie first.” He glares daggers at Xavier who has an oh shit look on his face while he mouths sorry to him.

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize that Monty hadn’t discussed this with you yet!” Harper’s eyes are wide with panic. “I just wanted to say that Evie’s been looking for a job, and she’s already met Shiloh.”

My mind flashes back to the stunning blonde we met on New Year’s Eve a few hours before my water broke.

Her personality was contagious, and I couldn’t take my eyes off her.

To be fair, neither could Monty. For a brief moment, I almost asked Monty if we were ready to bring another person into our relationship again.

Then my water broke, and we know what happened after that.

“Do you think she’d be a good fit?” I question, realizing I’m going to give her a shot before I even know the answer. Even if she just helps me out until the doctor gives me the all clear. I wouldn’t mind getting to know her a bit more. Besides, it’s not like it could be something more.

“Oh, absolutely. I mean, I may be biased because you know she’s my best friend. But she’s even helped take care of me after Dalton and I broke up. She never let me sleep alone, but also knew when I needed space. I mean of course she wouldn’t leave the kids alone. She’s responsible.”

“Harper.” Xavier quietly cuts her word vomit off, kissing the top of her head before whispering in her ear.

Her face flushes, “sorry, I’m a good rambler when I get nervous.”

“It’s not a problem.” Monty assures her, “what’s her number? I’ll set something up for her to come by and we’ll talk.”

Monty takes Hayes and quickly puts him to bed. I get Evie’s number from Harper, and we say our goodbyes.

Making my way through the quiet house, I think about what was just discussed. There could be some benefit to the extra hands. I continue to think about it as I get ready for bed.

When I slide in between the sheets I wince briefly at the pain in my abs. I moved around a bit more than usual today, so I’m sore. I make sure to take some pain pills while I wait for Monty to join me in bed.

He crawls in and immediately curls around my body. Placing a kiss to my shoulder, “I’m sorry for not talking to you about the nanny thing before mentioning it to Xavier. I should have known he was going to blab it to Harper.”

A soft chuckle leaves me as I pat my hand over his.

“The man’s in love, give him a break.” We sit in silence for a few minutes before I continue, “but you have a point. We should probably get someone to help me out until I get the all clear from the doctor.”

Monty shoots up onto his elbow and looks down at me with astonishment. “Who are you, and what did you do with my wife?”

Smacking his shoulder, “oh shut up. I’m not that stubborn.” He raises an eyebrow in my direction, knowing damn well that I am that stubborn.

“I’ll call her tomorrow and invite her to dinner. Who knows, maybe she won’t be a good fit.”

“Ohhkayy, set it up, but you’re still being way too agreeable to this.” Kissing my temple he whispers in my ear, “are you sure you haven't been body snatched?” Snorting, I shake my head as we both get comfortable.

Who knows, maybe it won’t work out. Maybe, she won’t even accept the job, or she comes over and she doesn’t jive well with our family. Before I can think anymore on the matter, sleep takes me away.
