Chapter 24 Enzo

Chapter twenty-four

Enzo

Enzo threw the cold water in Li's face, jarring the man awake. "Who knew I put your lights out that deep? I thought you'd sleep forever," he taunted. One of his men handed him a brand new water bottle, which he twisted the cap off before taking several swallows.

Li glared up at the man who had the nerve to attack him. Water dripped from his now wet hair into his eyes, and he shook his head a little to clear his vision. "I'm going to fucking kill you."

Enzo laughed at what he considered a weak threat. "There's nothing I detest more than someone talking shit when they need to shut the fuck up."

"Do you think I'm afraid of you?" Li snapped.

"You should be thanking me. Had I not had the bright idea to keep you alive as a bargaining chip, I'd be texting your dear ol' daddy photos of you and your sister's corpses with laugh emojis, motherfucker.

You and your bitch of a sister have one useful purpose.

" He held up a finger. "Just one. And that's leverage.

Once my father contacts yours and lets him know that we have his precious offspring, he'll know the game is over.

That way, your little triad can pack your shit and get your ass back on a plane to China, Moo Goo Gai Pan-style. "

Li snorted. "That was racist when you didn't even need to be, and that's rich coming from a mixed-breed mutt like yourself."

"Wrong, it was prejudice."

"Aren't you half black, half Italian? What room do you have to be prejudiced?" Li retorted.

"He's not wrong; that was unnecessary," Dragon said as he entered the room and took a seat before taking a swig of his beer.

"See, even he knows you're a moolie asshole, even to your own people," Li taunted because he wanted to push Enzo's buttons.

"You talking all that yin-yang bullshit? I'm going to slap you with my enlightening front and back hand, bitch," Enzo said, which made Li roll his eyes.

Dragon shook his head as he chuckled. "Okay, that was a good one."

Enzo smirked but then walked up to Li. "You really thought you could take us on?"

Li smiled, then winced a little from his split lip. "You really think my father doesn't have a plan for something like this?"

"If he's smart, I'm sure he does. But it won't matter. You're his eldest son, and she's his own daughter. He won't leave you to die."

"He won't, but that doesn't mean you'll win," Li taunted.

Enzo swung, his backhand striking Li hard across the jaw, making the other man grunt. "That's for having a smart mouth."

"I love a good beatdown, but perhaps you should hold off on adding any more bruises to that pretty face of his," Cenzo said as he entered the room. "He's been fucked up enough."

"He's still breathing," Enzo countered.

"Da Han is going to want him back in one piece. His sister took the worst of it. Let's keep him as pristine as possible, Enzo," Cenzo said because he knew his cousin had a temper that needed to be checked.

Enzo sighed, then took a few steps back. "You have a point. Better keep him looking pretty for his daddy when I send the photos as proof that he was captured."

Li sat back in the chair he was bound to. "Where's my sister?"

"In a room still knocked the fuck out. She tussled with that one," Enzo said, pointing to Dragon.

Li looked at Dragon and the biker raised his beer in salute before taking another swig.

"Looks like she made you pay," Li said, snarling at the beer salute that Dragon gave him.

"You should see what I did to her first before trying to talk shit," Dragon retorted.

Li's gaze turned menacing as he glared at Dragon. "If you've hurt her, don't think my father's reach won't be able to touch you."

Dragon laughed. "Oh, that bitch is hurt for sure, but she's still alive."

"She better fucking be, or you're dead," Li snapped.

"If you think threats scare me, you're fucking stupid," Dragon said. "Unlike you, I've actually been to prison where death was constantly hiding in my shadow. I killed everyone who came for me. I fear no one."

Enzo grabbed Li's chin, forcing the man to look at him. "Keep your fucking attention on me. Because I'm the one who will put a bullet between your eyes if your father doesn't play by our rules."

Li's nostrils flared in his rage as his brown eyes narrowed. "We'll see."

Enzo released Li's chin. "Yes, we will." With that, he left the room, and Cenzo and Dragon followed.

They entered the other room where the majority of the Lords and his own men were enjoying a meal.

After their takedown of Li and his people, they'd worked up quite the appetite.

Enzo made a plate, then sat down with Cenzo, who was also eating. Dragon had already indulged.

"You want to fuck him, don't you?" Cenzo teased Enzo.

Enzo smirked. "He is beautiful, but arrogant. Not my type at all. I'd rather see him on his knees with the barrel of my gun in his mouth instead of my cock. I'm sure I'll never get the chance if my father gets what he wants out of his father."

"His sister was the toughest fucking fight I've ever had, I'll say that," Dragon stated as he touched a tender bruise on his jaw. "I've fought serial killers in prison who don't hit as hard as she does." He laughed at that.

"You seem pleased," Cenzo said.

Dragon nodded. "I love a good brawl."

Cenzo shook his head because he was more of a lover than a fighter. He preferred to keep his looks intact. "I'm happy for you," he said sarcastically, then winced from the pain of his wound.

"Should you even be moving around right now?" Enzo asked him.

Cenzo shrugged. "The bullet grazed me. Some stitches and I'm good to go. Besides, I'm not the type to lay in bed all day missing all of the action. Don't worry, I'm taking it easy." He put his feet up in the empty chair next to his. "See."

Enzo sighed. "You better." He looked at Dragon. "Glad to hear you enjoyed the fight with Xiù."

"I'm an equal opportunity enforcer. I don't pull my punches for anyone, and she took some of my heaviest hitters and still kept coming. She was exciting and outstanding," Dragon said with a smile.

"Hell, at least you didn't bust a nut the way Mav would have," Burger said as he joined them, with Nine in tow. Both men settled down on the sofa next to Dragon.

"Mav?" Enzo asked, one eyebrow arched.

"Maverick. The other enforcer," Nine said. "My cousin. He's a real freak and one of the reasons your people were able to handle business faster in New York."

"Ahh, I see," Enzo said. "I've got to say, your biker club has impressed me. I thought you were all just some—"

"Thugs," Burger supplied.

Enzo's smile was slow but accurate. "I was wrong."

"I just want all of this to be over so my baby can come back home to me," Burger said.

"That's right. You and Akari. How in the hell did that happen?" Enzo asked with genuine curiosity.

Burger laughed. "It was just meant to be. The moment I saw his fine ass, I wanted him, but he didn't make it easy. Kept pushing me away and shit. But a Lord never backs down. I was determined to get him, and I've got him, and he'll never get away."

Enzo snorted. "Sounds like a threat."

"A threat of my love," Burger said.

Dragon laughed and punched Burger in the arm. "Idiot."

"Man, I'm just happy to have you back with us, brother. Missed you so much when you were in the fucking hellhole," Burger said.

"Me too," Nine added.

Dragon nodded. "Five years, shit—almost six. I missed you too, but at least it wasn't all bad. That's where I met Richie."

Enzo nodded. "Speaking of Richie, you do know that his best friend is the husband of Da Han's youngest son, Ren. Doesn't that put those two at odds?"

Dragon shrugged. "I don't know if anything will put those two at odds. I've never met the man myself. Shit, he wasn't going to waste his visit to see me. I've only heard about their relationship through Richie. Those two have been like brothers from another mother since they were kids."

"What if Richie betrays the club for him?" Enzo asked.

"He wouldn't do that," Dragon said, and his tone let Enzo know he found the question insulting.

"Can you say that with certainty?" Enzo asked, not backing down.

"Are you asking me if my man can be trusted?"

All eyes were on Enzo now. "I'd be remiss if I didn't. In my business, anyone can betray you. Your club wants to work with us... we're the big fish in this ocean, and if there is a chance that things can go wrong because of misguided loyalties, I want to know."

"Go fuck yourself," Dragon snapped.

"Let's cool our heads," Cenzo interjected.

"No, he can go fuck himself," Dragon reiterated.

"We'll leave it at that. Just something to think about, and even if you think your man is above reproach, I'm sure your father has had the thought," Enzo said. "If he asked, are you going to tell him to go 'fuck himself' too?"

"He's my father and president. He can ask me that question. You can't," Dragon said.

"I'm your business partner," Enzo said.

"And if you want a part of Richie's drug business, I suggest you find your fucking manners," Dragon said as his muscles tensed.

"Do you think you can keep us out of it?" Enzo asked as he leaned forward, his eyes boring into Dragon's as a challenge.

"Do you want to ruin the partnership we have because you don't know how to behave yourself?" Dragon asked, his gaze never leaving Enzo's.

Several of the men in the room turned to the two of them, as the tension rose in the atmosphere.

Enzo's stare was intense; then he nodded, releasing the tenseness in his muscles. "Fine. If you believe you can trust him, I'll take your word for it."

"Good," Dragon clipped the word off, then rose, leaving the room with his brother and cousin following.

"That could have gone better. You do have to work on your tact sometimes, cousin," Cenzo said, patting Enzo's shoulder.

Enzo smirked and took a sip of his drink.

"I put something on his mind whether he wants to admit it or not.

But we'll see if their friendly relationship will be a problem in the future.

Once my father wins this war, Montgomery will have to make a decision too because their little operations will be shut down in America. "

With that, Enzo smiled.
