Chapter 28 Dragon
Chapter twenty-eight
Dragon
"The fuck I will!"
Dragon cocked both eyebrows at Enzo's outburst. He'd been watching the man talk to his mother on the phone, and apparently, something was said that he didn't like. He took another swig of his orange juice while he enjoyed his breakfast.
"How in the fuck did I get dragged into your deal? How the fuck did Cenzo!?" Enzo asked his mom. There was some silence, then he went on. "I'd sooner kill that son of a bitch than marry him. Did we forget how much we suffered because of them?"
When Dragon heard Vincenzo's name, he turned to the man to see that he was also on his cell phone, and he didn't look at all happy about what he was hearing as he paced back and forth.
A deep frown creasing Cenzo's brow made Dragon curious about what was going on, but Cenzo seemed to have better composure than Enzo when being informed of the results of the sit-down.
Dragon gathered that they want Enzo to marry someone from the Triad and apparently Cenzo too. Quickly, he pulled out his cell and called his dad. He left the area so that he could speak in private. When his dad answered, he asked about the meeting.
"It was interesting," Dasan said. "Rico is a real motherfucker for you."
"What happened?" Dragon asked.
"First, Rico played hardball to prove that he was willing to make sacrifices if Li and Xiù's unfortunate outcome would deal a devastating blow to Da Han. Then that asshole countered by being equally as cold, claiming he had other kids and brothers who can see his triad rise."
"Damn, that's harsh," Dragon said.
"These mobsters dance on a different ballroom than we do.
Naturally, I let them tango until they came to an understanding.
That's when Da Han suggested a Blood Marriage, and that's when the firstborns of the bosses get married.
Apparently, the same thing happened when his triad was at war with the Saotome Yakuza back in the day.
To end that war, he married his current wife, and lucky for him, it turned out to be a blessing," Dasan said.
"So, does that mean Enzo has to marry Li?"
"Yep."
"What about Cenzo?" Dragon asked because he wanted all of the details.
"Alessia made the point that her son was gay and wouldn't want Xiù, and in order for their families to fully become one, a child needed to be born of both bloodlines.
That's when she suggested that Vincenzo marry Xiù and everyone agreed.
And apparently, Nico wants his son to take his last name, so he's using this as leverage, but none of that shit has anything to do with us. Stay out of that," Dasan said.
Dragon burst into laughter at the thought because Enzo had been antagonizing the hell out of Li the whole time. The two obviously hated each other. "I don't see that working out, at least not between Li and Enzo. Cenzo and Xiù may be able to work it out."
"Stay out of it," Dasan reminded him.
"Oh, don't worry, I will. I just would love to be a fly on the wall to see if they can get along," Dragon said, still chuckling.
"For the opportunity ahead of us, they better make it work," Dasan said.
"Oooh, tell me more," Dragon urged.
"We're talking retirement money, son, selling Richie's homemade recipe internationally," Dasan said.
Dragon knew what the code words meant. Sure, their phones were encrypted, but one could never be too safe. "But all we need is the Castiellos for that."
"Not when you take in the Asian market," Dasan said.
Holy shit! "I understand," Dragon said. Billions, that's what they were about to make. He laughed at what the future promised. "They sure enough need make these marriages work then. The sooner Cenzo can pop a baby in Xiù, the better."
"They won't have a choice," Dasan said.
"My baby bringing us all together. I'm so happy I sucked his dick that night," Dragon said, thinking about the moment he had convinced Richie to let him work his magic, and if he couldn't make the man cum, he'd leave him alone. That was all in the past now; Richie was his and would always be his.
"That was probably the best blowjob anyone in this club ever gave someone. Good job, son," Dasan said.
Again, Dragon laughed. "I aim to please."
"Anyway, I'm visiting Al and everyone here at the Chicago chapter. Ace, Maverick, and I will be flying back home later," Dasan said.
"Okay, I'll be home by the time you all get back. Can't wait to see my little brother," Dragon said.
"Maverick has missed you a great deal, and he's excited for your reunion," Dasan said. "Oh, I'm sure Enzo and the other one are being made aware, but I'll tell you too. Montgomery William-Price will be coming to pick up Li and Xiù."
"Richie's best friend. Good, I finally get to meet him," Dragon said.
"Play nice. Yeah, he's triad now, but he and Richie are still best friends," Dasan said.
"Yeah, I know. I won't do anything to make things hard on my baby."
"Good. I'll see you later."
"All right, take care."
Dragon ended the call, then went back into the room where Burger and Nine Iron were still eating.
He sat down and finished his meal, and at the same time, he told them what was going on.
Both Burger and Nine found the fact that Enzo had to marry Li to be hilarious, considering how antagonistic he'd been toward the man.
As for Vincenzo having to marry Xiù, that might go over better since he wasn't taunting her but was making sure she was well tended to.
"They'll probably kill each other on their honeymoon," Nine said about Li and Enzo.
"I don't see them making it to the wedding," Burger said.
"Yeah, there's a lot of resentment between them, but it's a done deal," Dragon said.
"Is Li even gay?" Nine asked.
Dragon shrugged. "How the fuck should I know?"
"Just saying that Blood Marriage shit doesn't seem to care," Nine said.
"He might be since Vincenzo is marrying his sister," Burger said.
"That's because Enzo is gay and he's Rico's only child," Dragon stated.
"Ahh, I see now. Well, not my business," Burger said, then finished his burger.
"It's just business in the end, none of them will have a choice," Dragon said, then finished his orange juice. "I just want to go back home."
"Hell, that's what we all want," Nine said.
Soon, we will, Dragon thought.
Before the hour passed, there was a knock on the door, and Enzo's men and the Lords were on guard.
Instructions had been given to allow Da Han's people to take Li and Xiù away.
Dragon watched Enzo confirm who was at the door; they were let in.
The first person to walk in was a handsome and tall Asian man, and he could tell from the man's body language that he was a bodyguard, but even more than that, he was a skilled assassin.
Dragon rose from his chair just in case shit was about to kick off.
The next person who crossed the threshold was a handsome blonde man, and Dragon knew right away that it was Montgomery.
He'd seen photos of the man while Richie was in prison.
The confidence in Montgomery's strut told Dragon a lot about him.
He was fearless and in control of his emotions.
Several other men followed, all guards, and then the door was shut behind them.
"Follow me," Enzo said.
Dragon walked over to Montgomery, blocking their path. "You're Richie's best friend."
Montgomery's chin lifted slightly as his gaze roamed up and down the length of Dragon's body. He smirked. "And you're his lover."
"I wish we were meeting for the first time under better circumstances," Dragon said, because he didn't want to make an enemy out of Montgomery. Not if he didn't have to, and since he and Richie had never been boyfriends in the past, he didn't feel any need to be jealous either.
"We'll have a chance to get to know each other," Montgomery said in his crisp British accent, which made Dragon think the man sipped his tea with his pinky finger up.
"Let's get this over with," Enzo said, as his patience had run out.
Montgomery nodded at Dragon, then followed Enzo to where Li was still tied up.
"Get him out of my fucking sight," Enzo said, gesturing to the man glaring angrily up at him.
Montgomery motioned for his men to act, and Dragon saw that they obeyed him.
It made him curious about Montgomery's position inside the triad.
Was he an underboss? He must be because they were following his orders and protecting him.
Dragon watched the triad untie Li's hands and help the man to his feet.
They assisted him as he walked past Enzo; the two shared a look that held their mutual malice.
"There will be a reckoning," Li warned.
Enzo snorted. "I kicked your ass once."
Li chuckled. "And how many men did it take to do that?"
That was true; Enzo didn't have the skill to take Li down by himself, Dragon remembered.
"A win is a win," Enzo said with a wicked smile.
"I'll remember that," Li retorted, then turned to Montgomery. "Let's get Xiù."
"Of course," Montgomery said.
Dragon noticed that the other members of the triad bowed to Li, but not Montgomery.
Was it because Montgomery was married to Li's little brother?
Or something else why they were following his orders too?
Dragon followed along as they went to the room where Xiù was resting.
She was ready and had been waiting to leave.
Li walked over to her, hugged his twin, and checked her over, noting her wounds.
He growled, then turned, his fiery gaze zeroing in on Dragon.
"You son of a bitch," he snarled.
"Spare me your outrage," Dragon said. "We were at war, and I don't pull my punches. Swallow your pride and be glad that I didn't kill her."
Li laughed, but there was no humor in it. He was pissed, and he knew that if he didn't get the fuck away from them, he'd order his people to kill everyone. "Let's go," he said finally.
