24. Jonah
Chapter 24
Jonah
I sit in the back with Shiloh, while Cole drives us to Manhattan.
As much as I’ve tried to assure her about this evening, she’s still nervous. I know that no words are going to calm her nerves. She’s just going to have to meet my family and realize there’s nothing to worry about.
“We’re not staying at your parent’s house, right?” she asks.
I can feel her pulse thudding in her wrist.
“No, me and my siblings all have our own places in the same building.”
“Claire and Axel,” she repeats and I kiss her cheek.
“That’s right.”
“Is Claire going to be pissed that I took over her room?”
“No, and we’ve been meaning to ask if you wanted to change anything about the room?”
“Your sister has really good taste.”
“Tell her that and she will automatically like you,” I say, and she gives me a weak smile.
“What about your brother?”
“You have nothing to worry about, Shiloh.”
She sighs and fidgets in her seat. “How big is the event?”
“Pretty big, all the biggest donors my mom could invite. I’m sure there will be some performers there, silent auction, food. If you’re not feeling it, we can leave. Say your ankle hurts or some shit,” I tell her.
“My ankle has been feeling much better. Shouldn’t even need the boot in another few weeks,” she says proudly. “Is there…anyone I shouldn’t talk to?”
I try to not let the confusion read on my face, because what does that even mean?
“You can talk to whomever you want. One of us will be with you the entire night.”
She nods and I grab her thigh, keeping her anchored to my touch. I try to keep her mind off of the night. Maybe if we talk about something else she won’t stress so much.
“You know, we need to talk about your nest at some point,” I tell her and she adjusts in her seat and turns to me. “The room on the top floor is empty, there’s a bathroom already attached, it would be perfect.”
“A nest and my own room?” she questions, her plush lips parting.
“Of course, princess. You need a separate space for your heat. To be honest I think you need a bigger bed in your bedroom too.”
“It makes you happy? Providing for me?”
I squeeze her thigh tighter, wanting to provide her with every physical assurance I can. I grab her hand and place it on my hardening cock.
“Yeah, Shiloh, it makes me happy.”
The gleeful expression on her face only has me getting harder as she gives my thigh a squeeze.
“Then who am I to deny you your pleasure?”
“We’re five minutes away. No fucking in the car,” Cole says, being an absolute buzz kill.
“Later?” Shiloh whispers.
“I promise,” I whisper back, and she drops her hand from my crotch.
Let’s just hope my family doesn’t scare her away and I can end my night deep inside of my Omega.
We get ready in our apartment, cause there was no way I was sitting in a tuxedo the whole drive. Plus, I thought it would put Shiloh at ease, seeing the space and knowing we had somewhere to retreat to later tonight.
Shiloh enters the foyer looking like a complete vision. The dark blue of her dress accentuates her skin tone, and her long hair rests on one shoulder. She has on just enough makeup to showcase her sweet face as she stands there holding her fingers together.
“I should pick a different dress,” she says.
“Why? You look incredible,” Mack says.
“I look like I should be headed to prom with a vampire,” she says, holding out her booted foot and we all blink at her. “Nevermind, it’s too late to get changed. Let’s just go. Also, you all look really handsome,” she says, taking in the three of us in our tuxedos.
“Should we bring your scooter in case?” I ask, and the glare she shoots me is lethal. “No scooter,” I say, holding up my hands in surrender.
“Sorry,” she whispers, grabbing my forearm.
She walks better in the boot now, but it isn’t a normal gate. I keep my pace slow as we head out front and wait for the driver to pick us up. The hotel the event is being held at isn’t far, but it’s too cold to have Shiloh out, let alone letting her walk that distance with her recovering foot.
Cole and I are each on opposite sides of Shiloh when we enter the hotel. Mack lingering behind us like a solemn shadow. I know he hates this shit, but it’s important we’re seen as a united pack, and it is for a good cause.
“There they are,” I whisper in Shiloh’s ear, pointing at my parents.
She gasps, her hand clutching against my jacket sleeve.
“How did I not piece this together? Why didn’t I stalk your family online beforehand?”
“What?” I ask as she looks at me wide-eyed.
“Your mom is fucking Liv S?rensen. I knew I recognized your last name,” she says, and I can tell she’s about to panic.
It’s best to just rip this band-aid completely off and as I usher her toward my family her eyes widen even further.
“Mom, dads, this is Shiloh,” I say proudly.
