Chapter 22 #2

“Do you think so?” Elio asked, his voice a thin rasp.

He sniffed hard and composed himself when the doors opened.

They held hands and rushed to a pair of empty seats and sat.

“That’s such an awesome responsibility and parenting is much more challenging than physics,” Elio continued.

“You can’t erase a mistake when it comes to rearing a child, the way you can on a dry erase board.

I’ve never been responsible for anyone but myself. ”

“Neither have I but we look out for each other pretty well and we’re learning how to be adults,” Milo pointed out.

“We should get the hang of that by the time I’ve won a few bigger awards and published a paper like the one you wrote about the Hubble tension crisis,” he predicted, earning a thoughtful hum from Elio.

“That’s logical and it would give us more time alone so I can work naked,” he added with a wiggle of his brows.

“Is that all you think about now?” Milo scolded but he rubbed his thigh against Elio’s and gave his hand a squeeze.

Elio’s smile curved wickedly. “Almost exclusively. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“Neither would I.”

Milo didn’t think he’d like holding hands but was glad Elio was holding on tight as they got off the train and headed into work, he felt like he’d fly away with the breeze.

They had agreed that they wouldn’t comment on their relationship to anyone outside of their close circle of friends and family.

But they weren’t going to hide and go through the added stress of trying to cover it up.

They were going to be themselves and ignore any gossip or unwanted attention.

Everyone at Starlight already knew but people clapped and cheered when they came up the stairs into the main lounge. Milo was expecting the normal pre-Monday meeting madness but Tyler made his way through, dodging sofas and bodies with a large brown pastry box.

“Got these for you, Milo! They’re from Donut Planet. Your favorite, right?” Tyler asked as he handed the box to Milo.

He nodded, looking around warily. “Thank you. What’s going on?” he whispered and risked a glance at Elio.

“I have no idea.” He held up his hands, searching the crowd. “Where’s Hector?”

“He’s in his office. The problem’s up and we’re waiting for you to solve it,” Chad said to Milo, pushing Tyler out of the way and gesturing for them to follow. “Get out of the way, the wizard’s here!” he announced and there were soft laughs and some claps as a path was cleared.

“The wizard?” Milo whispered out of the side of his mouth to Elio.

“I think they mean you.”

“Of course, we mean you!” Chad said and Bryan had a piece of chalk ready when they reached the board. He lowered to a knee and held it up like it was a sword.

Milo leaned away and gave the donut box a suspicious sniff. “Is this a joke? Is this thing booby trapped?” He squinted at the board and gave it a quick read to determine if it was a trick problem and resulted in something vulgar like 69 or had a fatal flaw.

“There’s no trick! You were a badass and saved our lives at Brookhaven,” Chad said, sending off another round of claps and cheers. “Everyone’s heard about it!”

“Oh.” Milo still wasn’t sure if he trusted it. “The fail-safe was there and it worked. We probably would have been fine if I hadn’t turned off the accelerator. Where’s Brad?”

Tyler sneered, scoffing hard. “He called in sick. Too embarrassed to show his face after folding like a cheap chair and crying for his mommy,” he said and there was a hum of agreement from Bryan.

“He’s probably scared they’ll give you Hector’s job and make his life hell for being a douche.”

“No way.” Milo’s face twisted and he shook his head. “Why would I want Hector’s job? That would suck and I would never get to do any real work. I’m already doing exactly what I want to do.”

“I can’t tell you how happy that makes me!” Hector said with a jolly laugh, making Milo duck as they turned.

“No offense. You’re the perfect man for the job,” Milo said and gave Elio a hard jab with his elbow when he muttered something under his breath about an oblivious, useless bureaucrat.

“None taken! Why don’t you give this a go?” Hector insisted as he tapped a knuckle on the chalkboard. “Found an extra tricky one for you this week!”

“Okay…” Milo handed Elio the box and he hurried to the nearest sofa and sat next to Carmen, beaming.

“He is going to crush this. Watch!” Elio whispered and nodded around him. “You’ll see!”

Milo cleared his throat pointedly, warning Elio to temper his expectations.

“I’ll see what I can do.” He turned back to the board and pursed his lips, humming as he read and determined that it was the pieces of a Fourier Series for continuous versus discrete time and frequency.

“It’s spectral modeling of audio,” he announced as he began to write and heard Elio cheer.

“I knew he’d crush this!” he boasted to Carmen and Milo shook his head at the board and pointed at the string he had written.

“In spectral modeling we usually deal with indefinitely long signals. Fourier analysis of an indefinitely long discrete-time signal is carried out using the Discrete Time Fourier Transform—DTFT…” he tried not to drone along too much as he explained the rest of his reasoning, stepping aside so everyone could see his work when he was done.

“In all four cases, the Fourier transform can be interpreted as the inner product of the signal chi with a complex sinusoid at radian frequency omega.”

Hector clapped and pulled a gift card from his sleeve like a magician. “Brilliant work, Ashby! I don’t think anyone’s ever solved the Monday problem that fast.”

“The wizard does it again!” Chad declared as he raised Milo’s hand like they were in a boxing ring.

“The wizard?” Milo mouthed as the lounge erupted in applause and people chanted his name. “I like that,” he said to himself and Elio looked so pleased as he reclined with his arms stretched along the back of the sofa, smiling at Milo.

“I told you all he wasn’t mild,” Carmen said with a lift of her chin. “A real genius and a baddie doesn’t run his mouth or need attention. He handles his business and moves in the shadows so no one sees him coming.”

“That’s right,” Elio said and raised a hand so he could whisper behind it. “He isn’t mild by my standards. In fact, I’d say that he’s the wilder one between the two of us,” he added, winking at Carmen and making her gasp.

“That’s my boy!” She clapped in Milo’s direction, sending him fleeing.

But Milo was smiling from ear to ear when he let himself into their office and waved at Seth. He had a cup of coffee ready for Milo.

“Looks like it went well out there.”

“I’m still not sure if this is a setup. You have to tell me if there are cameras and someone’s going to yell at me,” Milo said but Seth snorted as he woke up the touchscreen.

“Stressing you out only makes my day worse. The vibe gets…icky in here when you’re anxious and worried.”

“I concur,” Elio said as he pushed the door open with his shoulder, holding out Milo’s pastry box. “Seth and I made a pact: no surprises unless they’re good surprises and you’ve had adequate warning. No one gets past us if they’re up to fuckery.”

“Amen,” Seth said and passed Elio his coffee. “I also made a pact to make myself scarce when you get that look in your eyes. Think I’ll hang out in the cantina and see if anyone’s heard anything else about Brad’s mysterious illness and if Hector’s counting his lucky stars.”

“That’s probably a good idea.” Elio replied, watching Milo over the rim of his cup. He waited until Seth left them to prowl closer. “That was very sexy, Mr. Wizard.”

“I guess it was pretty cool,” Milo said as he leaned in so Elio could kiss his cheek. “But it’s the wizard, Mr. Wizard was an American icon and I could never fill his shoes.”

“Agree to disagree,” Elio murmured in his lazy rumble, tilting his head and biting Milo’s neck, giving him goosebumps. “Want to step into the bathroom?”

“Maybe…” Milo chewed on his lip and checked to see if anyone was watching, reaching for the touchscreen and locking the door to be extra safe. “What did you have in mind?”

“I want to give you head and then I want you to fuck me like a baddie!” Elio whispered as he set his cup and saucer on the desk and pulled Milo into his arms.

“I can do that,” Milo said, feeling a rush of adrenaline as Elio guided them to the invisible door and used his elbow to push it open. Milo was hard as they kissed and he blindly swiped at the door until he found the lock and turned it.

Elio pounced immediately, pushing Milo against the wall and attacking his fly. “I love you, Milo Ashby, and I’ve always thought you were a baddie,” he said before he lowered and gave Milo’s jeans and boxers a tug so they were around his knees.

“You’re everything, Elio.” Milo traced Elio’s cheek and swept back his hair.

There was so much more to Elio than his bad boy reputation and Milo saw the universe in his eyes and on his skin.

They spoke the same language and shared the same belief in a world of infinite dimensions and time without limits.

The odds of them proving it were too low to calculate but no one could challenge Milo more or push him to greater heights.

Together, there was no telling what they could achieve and how far Milo could go with Elio by his side.

They were unstoppable and Milo truly felt like a bad boy as he stared at their reflection in the mirror.

That’s me? Getting head at work on a Monday morning?

It was hard to fathom but Elio was on his knees, lapping and sucking on Milo’s erection.

Elio’s jeans were open and he had a packet of lube in his free hand.

The studs in his lower lip scraped the underside of Milo’s cock as Elio’s head slowly bounced, a pleasant addition to the hot lushness of his mouth and tongue.

“Now, Eli!” Milo said when the pulsing at the base of his cock and the tightness in his sac became too intense to ignore. He pulled Elio’s head back by his hair and tugged, wordlessly commanding him up and onto his feet.

“Fuck, you are so hot!” Elio groaned as he rose and kissed Milo, then shuffled to the sofa with his jeans around his calves.

Milo took a moment to enjoy the view of Elio’s backside as he dropped onto his knees and braced his hands on the cushions. “Our experiment worked and you rubbed off on me. I’ve turned into a bad boy,” Milo said while coating his length with lube and getting into position behind Elio.

“That’s right. My bad boy,” Elio said and groaned out a “Fuck!” when Milo slid all the way home and swiveled his hips, grinding hard.

“Like that?” he asked but all Elio could do was nod and beg for more.

Milo leaned back and held onto Elio’s hair as he thrust faster and harder, the swift, sharp claps echoing off the marble walls. He watched the mirror, mesmerized by Elio’s dazed bliss and the way his cock swung back and forth, flicking cum on the wall and the sofa.

“Ja! Don’t stop!” Elio’s ass was so tight as it clenched around Milo’s shaft, igniting his nerves.

Milo imploded a heartbeat later. “Eli!” All the heat in Milo’s core swelled, filling the world with light as cum pumped from his cock and flooded Elio’s passage. Blinded and lightheaded, Milo swayed as his pulse pounded in his ears and trembled as waves of pleasure raced up his spine.

“Fuck, Milo! That was—!” Elio’s cheek dragged on the sofa as he laughed. “You’re a wizard and an animal.”

“Only with you,” Milo said as he eased out of Elio, then fell onto the sofa next to him. “And that’s how it’s supposed to be. I was made for you and I only feel a spark and like I’m made of light when we’re together.”

“I feel it too and it’s all that matters now.” Elio’s hand curled around Milo’s on the sofa between them. “We have nothing but time and nothing will stop me from making your dreams come true.”

“Our dreams,” Milo corrected imperiously. He could already see their future and it was bright and it was big. “We’re going to be the bad boys of quantum physics and have a mini Milo or a mini Elio. We’re going to have it all.”

“Are we?” Elio asked as he sat up and yanked on Milo’s sleeve, prodding him into motion. “We’d better get to work, then.”
