Chapter 29
CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
Nick
Waking up to Matt’s lips wrapped around my cock was by far the greatest thing ever.
“Oh, yeah.” I bucked up slightly, slid my hand through his hair, and matched his thrusts. It didn’t take much time for me to come down his throat and when a shiver ran through his body, I knew he’d come too.
“Morning.” He smiled up at me.
“Yes, it certainly is.”
He chuckled and flopped onto his back. “I have to take a shower, you going to join me?”
“Wild horses couldn’t stop me.”
The shower took a lot longer than normal, but a wet Matt was hard to resist. By the time we got out, dressed, and chugged mugs of coffee into our bellies, we were rushing out the door.
“JJ won’t be upset if you’re a little late.” I stood behind him as he locked his door.
“I know but I have to maintain some professionalism, Nick.”
I laughed. “Fine.”
The door across the hall opened and Nicole and James exited. Both beamed as soon as they saw Matt. They didn’t really acknowledge me.
“Morning, Matt,” Nicole greeted.
“Hey, Nicole, James.”
“Headed out?” James motioned toward the elevator.
“We are,” I answered, and then they looked over at me.
James pressed the button, and we waited in awkward silence. Only when the four of us were on the elevator did Nicole finally speak.
“Nick, you work at Saintly Sweets, don’t you?”
“Yep. Me and my family own it.”
“That’s so lovely. I wanted to get a cake for my mother-in-law’s birthday next week, is that something you do?”
I nodded. “Just stop in anytime. I think Shep only needs forty-eight hours’ notice, but feel free to tell him I sent you. He’ll get on it right away for you.”
She giggled. “Thank you, that’s very kind.”
James snorted softly, almost too softly. I side-eyed him and oddly, he was glaring at the numbers as we descended.
“Here we are.” Matt exited first, followed by me and James and Nicole last.
“See you later.” I waved and grabbed Matt’s hand in mine, paying close attention to the way they’d react. Nicole waved, and James turned toward the mailboxes.
“Everything all right?” Matt squeezed my fingers.
“I dunno.”
He nodded, eyes flickering back to where James was removing some mail and Nicole waited.
I walked him to his car, then went to mine. No notes for either of us, thankfully. I followed behind him, staying vigilant, but it was a peaceful drive. As soon as we turned onto our long driveway, I relaxed.
When Matt got out of his car, he came over to me. “So, what squigged you out?”
I laughed. “Squigged?”
“Yeah, something did, I could tell.”
“Just the way James was acting, is all. Not volatile, but almost like my talking to Nicole irritated him.”
Matt pursed his lips. “Weird, I don’t think I’ve ever seen James upset.”
I shrugged. “I’m noticing everything. Nothing is off the table, you know.”
“I know.”
Right before we went inside, I tugged him closer. He grinned and happily came. “So, listen.”
“I’m listening.”
“It’s family night tonight.” His smile dropped and I hated it, so I quickly spoke. “I want you to stay for it.”
“What? Isn’t that dinner and a movie? Something you all do? I won’t intrude on that.”
“I’m inviting you, Matt. And they all like you. We tried to get you to join us when you were living here, but you always said no.”
He eyed the front door and sighed. “I don’t know.”
“How about this? I’ll go in there and tell them I invited you for family night. Watch their reactions. If you think they don’t want you there, I won’t push.”
He rolled his eyes. “They won’t be outright rude.”
I full on belly laughed. “You don’t know Angel, then—he’s the outspoken one.”
He pursed his lips and nodded. “Okay, but if anyone pulls you aside and tells you they’d rather I not, promise me you’ll let me know?”
“Promise.” I would punch any of them who said such a thing.
As expected, everyone loved the idea of Matt joining family night. We ordered meatball subs, salads, and wings. It was Angel’s turn to pick the movie and he went with Shadow of a Doubt , a classic Alfred Hitchcock film. Angel adored old movies so we’d all expected this, except Matt.
“I took Angel for an action-flick kind of guy.”
“He loves them, only much older ones. Hitchcock is his favorite.”
Matt was sitting beside me, and we ate in front of the TV this time instead of around the table. I thought it was to make it more comfortable for Matt, and that was kind.
Four was on the recliner away from the rest of us; he wasn’t a fan of squishing together. With the size of the living room and how many places there were to sit, though, that never happened unless you wanted it to.
When the movie ended, Matt was beaming. “That was amazing, I’d never seen that one.”
Angel nodded. “I saw it in school years ago, loved it.”
“Great pick.” Matt stood, and Angel smiled, which was a rare thing.
It was quite late by the time we all cleaned up and were done talking. I’d go back to Matt’s apartment if he wanted to, but I really wanted Matt in my bed for a change.
“Hey,” I whispered while everyone was rattling about.
“Yeah?”
“How about you stay here tonight, with me, in my bed?” I bit my bottom lip and waggled my brows.
“Uh…is that a good idea?”
“Do you honestly think that every person here doesn’t know we’re…what are we?”
“What do you want to be?”
I tsked. “No, not fair, I asked first.”
He chuckled. “I think it’s fair to say we’re dating.”
I nodded curtly. “Good, I agree, and so do they.” I jutted my chin toward my family, who were all staring at us.
“Oh, God.” Matt covered his face with his hand.
“You are both adorable.” JJ was giddy.
“Matt’s staying the night…and we’re walking out of the room now…bye.” I pulled Matt with me, the whole time listening to him mumble about how embarrassed he was.
As soon as we were in the privacy of my bedroom, though, all the nervousness went away. My room had LEDs, and it painted the room into a peaceful and tranquil place. My monitors were asleep, my bed freshly made. It was my sanctuary, and I loved having Matt in it with me.
“I’m not having sex with you here, Nick.”
I cackled as I tumbled us onto my bed. “Fine, but eventually, Mattie, I’m gonna have you here, spread out, feasting on every inch of your delicious skin.”
“You don’t play fair…and don’t call me that.”
I laughed into his neck. I didn’t care if we fucked or not; I loved having him here. He was safe, he was with me, and no matter what that stalker asshole thought, Matthew York was, in fact, mine to keep.
