Chapter 44

CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR

M oon drove away from his house after finishing dinner. He didn’t want to be hanging around when Lana got off, not wanting to give them any reason not to move into the house.

When he stopped at a red light, he felt his cell phone vibrate in his back pocket. He took it out, read the message, then responded. The reply came back before he could repocket the cell phone. He read the text and memorized the address.

Once the light turned green, Moon headed toward the address. When he pulled into the driveway, he saw the front door light was on.

Parking his bike, he ambled over to the door to knock on it with his knuckles.

The door swung open as if she had been watching for him.

“Hi.” The clerk from the baby store brazenly stood in the doorway with black satin shorts and a matching mesh top.

His eyes dropped to the two nipples peeking out of the mesh. “Hi.” He grinned. “Nice outfit.”

“I thought you would appreciate it.”

His hands went to her waist. Lifting her up, he stepped inside the house, slamming the door shut with his foot.

Seductively rubbing her breasts against his chest, she buried her long nails in his hair. Moon kissed her parted mouth, thrusting his tongue inside. When she would have tried to slide hers inside of his, he pulled back.

“Shouldn’t we introduce ourselves?”

“Uh … sure.” The woman gave a fake embarrassed laugh.

Moon almost rolled his eyes at her. Did she honestly think he would believe she was new to inviting men over after a casual meeting?

“Chasity Collins.”

“Moon.”

“Hey, Moon.” Chasity rubbed her breasts against him again. Then, licking the side of his neck, she sucked his earlobe into her mouth. “You want to fuck?” she whispered.

“Not standing up.” He carried her to the sofa to plunk her down. “Got any liquor?”

Straightening herself on the couch, she motioned toward a cabinet in the kitchen. “Second cabinet, next to the stove, right side.”

“Mind if I pour myself one?”

Curling her legs under her bottom, she gave him a sulky pout. “Help yourself.”

He strode to the kitchen, where he found the liquor and the glasses. Pouring himself a glass of bourbon, he carried it back to the couch, then sat down next to her and took a drink. “Want a taste?”

When she would have taken the glass from him, Moon reached out to grab her by neck, pulling her to him. When he kissed her, Moon felt her irritation drain away as he tongue-fucked her.

“I’ll never drink whiskey out of a glass again.”

His lips curled sensuously as he pulled back to take another drink. “Didn’t expect to hear from you so soon. You get new merchandise in?”

Her hands went to his shoulders to balance herself as she straddled him. Her pussy was knocking on the door of his zipper. “Not yet. We won’t get anything new in until next Wednesday.” Leaning forward, she licked his bottom lip. “You going to bring your girlfriend the next time you come in?”

“Yes.”

Surprised, Chasity leaned away from him. “You’re joking, right?”

He studied her seriously. “Why wouldn’t I?”

Her eyes widened in horror. “Don’t you think it would be a mistake to bring her there after we fuck?”

He shrugged. “I don’t see why not? It didn’t bother you to flirt with me in front of her.”

“That’s different.”

“How? You were pretty damn obvious that you wanted me to fuck you.”

“Because … I hadn’t fucked you yet. But if we did, it would be different.”

Moon drained the last of the bourbon. “Usually, women wait until after I fuck them before covering their bases. Let me see if I’m hearing this right. As long you can actually deny fucking me, it’s okay for her to be in the store, but if there is any truth to us fucking, you don’t want her in there. Is that it?”

“Pretty much. My boss is a bitch. If she finds out I’m coming on to any of the men who come in the stores with the mothers, she’ll fire me.”

“In other words, your boss has morals. Which you don’t have. I would fire you, too. Luckily, I’m not your boss.”

“You’re just teasing me, aren’t you? You wouldn’t bring her back in there, would you?”

“No, I wouldn’t.” Setting the glass on a side table, he started playing with her nipples as she ground herself down on his cock.

“How often does your store get new merchandise?”

“Meredith goes to shows in California and buys what she likes then has it transported here.”

“Interesting. You learn something every day. Are the orders very large?”

“Not very. Her store in Treepoint isn’t very profitable. The one in Lexington is, though. They make a drop in Lexington before coming to Treepoint.”

“Doesn’t she worry about it getting stolen in transit?”

Chasity bit her lip as she ground herself down on his lap. “I don’t think so. I check everything in when the truck arrives. Everything’s there. If Meredith comes up short, believe me, that bitch would never let me hear the end of it.”

Moon felt moisture build on her upper lip in her excitement. He wasn’t even touching her, and she was bringing herself to a climax.

She was lowering her mouth back to his when the sound of his phone made her jump.

“Pardon me.” He reached for his phone and accepted the call.

“You’re late.” Shade’s cold voice would have poured ice water on his lust if the bitch straddling his lap hadn’t left him cold already.

Disconnecting the call, he lifted Chasity off his lap. “Sorry, going to have to postpone this. I got called into work.”

“Damn … I’m almost … Can’t you wait for a couple of minutes? It won’t take long.”

“No can do.” He stared down at her in sympathy. “You don’t get much action here, do you?”

She made a face at him. “Are you kidding? This place is Dullsville.”

“You should come hang out at The Last Riders’ clubhouse on Friday nights. Tell them Moon said you could come.”

“Are you kidding? I couldn’t be seen dead in there. Only sluts go in there.”

“Forget the invitation.” Scorn dripped off his voice as he went to the door, leaving her seated there as if she couldn’t believe he was leaving.

“You’re seriously going to leave me hanging?”

“Yep, I sure am.” Letting his eyes sweep over her scathingly, Moon didn’t sugarcoat his next words. “You’re a waste of my time. I only fuck sluts.”

Shutting the door after him, Moon walked to his motorcycle to the sounds of glass being smashed against a wall.

He rode back to the club without making any more stops along the way.

Once there, taking the steps two at a time, he greeted Puck, who was on guard duty. “When did you get here?”

Puck yawned as he opened the door. “About an hour ago.”

“How’d you end up with guard duty?”

“New recruit had to take a dump. He caught me as I was heading upstairs.”

Instead of going inside, Moon gestured for him to go ahead.

“Get some sleep. I’ll tag you out until he comes back.”

Puck nodded. “Thanks, brah.”

“If you see Shade, tell him I’m out here.”

“Sure thing.” Puck closed the door behind him.

He had just lit a cigarette when Shade walked out.

“Where’s Pace?”

Moon took a hit off his cigarette. “Taking a dump.”

“What’d you find out?” Shade leaned a hip against the banister.

“They haven’t had any thefts.”

“So, the only business in town who’s had any thefts has been The Last Riders’ and the convenient store.”

“Yeah.”

He pulled a thumb drive from his pocket and tossed it to Shade. “That contains all the surveillance videos at the convenient store for the last two months.”

Shade slid the drive into his pocket. “Thanks.”

“No problem.” Moon slanted him a half smile as he took another puff. “I told you to call in ten minutes. You were late.”

Shade gave him a smile which didn’t reach his eyes.

“Thought I’d make you sweat it out for a minute.”

Taking it in stride, Shade had called late to irritate him, Moon gave him a half salute at achieving his goal. They had been trying to get the better of each other since the moment they had met. It had been going on so long Moon no longer knew who was ahead.

“You miss the good old days of getting info?”

Shaking his head, Shade leaned further back on the banister and crossed his ankles. “No. There are certain priorities which come first with the club, and then there are those that come with Lily. I keep them separate.”

“What happens when the day comes, and you can’t?”

Shade gave him a level stare. “Then that’s the day I give my cut to Viper.”

Moon knew Shade meant it without a doubt.

“The new kid’s taking a long time to take a dump, isn’t he?”

Moon frowned. “Now that you mention it, he is.”

“I’ll go check on him.”

Moon wasn’t surprised Shade had ended the brief discussion. The brother had never much been into sharing the inner workings of his mind.

He was stubbing his cigarette out when Shade returned.

“Pace isn’t in the club.”

“Where’d he go?”

“Beats me. But stay here. I’ll send a text to Viper.” He took out his cell phone. “I’m shutting the club down until we find him. He shows up after the door’s locked, he better have a damn good explanation.”

As Shade went inside, Moon heard the steel lock click in place. Taking his gun out of his jeans, he kept it in his hand, on the ready.

Over an hour passed before he heard the lock slide open and Shade and Viper both came outside.

“You find Pace?” he asked, seeing their expressions.

Viper gave a grim nod. “He’s dead.”

“Dead?”

“Shade found him in the sauna.”

Moon swore. “What happened?”

“A bullet to the back of the head. He was executed.”
