Zisa Epilogue- Six Months Later
It was hard to believe that it had been less than eight months since I took a trip to a book event and ended up not only me having a one-night stand with a sexy biker, but that biker was now my old man and husband. The quick move to Nebraska had seemed wild to me, but the past six months since Penn and Marius had been removed from our lives hadn’t been exactly tame or boring.
We had all settled into our new family. Mama and Carnage had gotten married right before Moose and I did. It had been a quick one, but I had special help. I’d meet Morgan at Shain and Daredevil’s wedding. At first, she hadn’t been happy to meet me. I discovered she had a crush on Moose and planned to marry him. Shain explained that Daredevil had been her first crush, and then Moosey came along. I almost died when she’d call him that. Moose had taken her aside, and they talked for a long time. Whatever he said had gotten her to grudgingly give him up. The next thing I knew, she shared her wedding plans for her and Moose with me. She said I could steal them.
During Carnage and Mama’s wedding, Moose, Carnage, and the rest of the Regulators met Eryck, Mama’s childhood friend. He and Carnage eyed each other at first, but by the time he left, they’d become friends. Eryck understood them, and they seemed to understand him. We were glad. He promised he’d be in the States more and come visit frequently. He was planning to be here to celebrate Thanksgiving with us next month.
Carnage and Mama were in the process of him officially adopting Milan and Imani. Zuri had gotten out of rehab and moved into a halfway house program. She came often to visit, and we went to see her. She was doing great. Even though she was the girls’ mother, she didn’t believe it was in their best interest to be with her, so she was more than okay with Carnage adopting them. They needed a real father in their lives, and he more than fulfilled that role. They’d taken to calling him Papa, which made him smile.
Zuri was holding down a job and making a life for herself. Maybe one day, she’d get to a point where she could trust a man and have a loving relationship, but that would take time. The things Penn put her through had scarred her. She was still haunted by them, but she was in counseling and was working through them. She knew that not only Mama, me, Moose, and Carnage were here for her, but so was the rest of the club. They saw her as part of the family.
Moose and I were less than a month away from our house being done. We were building it directly behind Mama and Carnage’s. I couldn’t wait for it to be done for a variety of reasons, but the biggest was the one I was touching right now. I rubbed my slightly rounded belly. Moose and I were both surprised yet thrilled when I discovered I was pregnant. It wasn’t planned, but then some of the best things in life weren’t. I was four months along. The baby was due mid-April of next year. I wanted us to be able to move into our house and decorate the nursery before the baby arrived. He kept telling me we had plenty of time.
Mama was happy to be Mamie again. It was what finally made her drop plans to work. Instead, she would immerse herself into being the president’s old lady. That was more than a full-time job when you considered how many people she had to keep an eye on. Plus, she’d be available to be Mamie even more. Carnage kept grumbling he wouldn’t be called Grandpa, but he grinned every time he said it. However, when Moose jokingly called him Grandpa one day, he chased him out of the clubhouse.
Sitting back in my bubble bath, I closed my eyes and let myself drift. Moose would be home soon. He was working late tonight on a project he had to get done at Refinements. We were going to have dinner with the family later.
