Sorimah #2

Contracts were signed and the agreement was in play. I was officially back on nanny duty. It had been years since I had to take on a client myself. This was going to be the test to see if I still had it.

Knocking on the door, I waited patiently to be greeted. Aviana was there to acknowledge me almost instantly. It was eight o’clock in the morning on the dot. I was a very punctual person.

“Sorimah, you’re here!” she beamed with excitement. “Come in.”

That was something that was added to the contract. We were around the same age and Aviana felt more comfortable addressing me by my first name and vice versa and I had no issue with that.

“Thanks,” I said stepping inside.

“So, Akeera is off to school. She and her father just left maybe fifteen minutes before you got here. You’ll be able to meet both of them later today since your shift doesn’t end until eight tonight. Right now, let me give you a tour.”

She seemed sweet but I would be a fool to believe that. I did a little homework on Aviana, and she had no degrees or businesses under her belt leaving her with all the time in the world to do everything I was requested for. This was truly a waste of my time.

As we walked through the house, I was in awe. The layout was absolutely stunning. Whoever designed this house had an eye for beautiful things because it was captured. It made my condo look like a closet compared to the open space this home provided.

From the size of it, I knew it carried more rooms than I grew up with. We were still on the first floor and had visited over six rooms already. Her man had to be the one giving her this lavish lifestyle because she was just as broke as they came.

We finally made it to the second floor and my mouth was still on the floor. The taste this man had was out of this world. It was classy but extremely unique. The pieces he had around the house were rare ones. It was like he housed a miniature museum. I loved this place just for the sights.

“Okay, so this is Akeera’s room and through that door is her personal bathroom.

She’s five years old and has the sweetest spirit ever.

She dresses freely but I try to keep her coordinated or at least matching.

Her closet is through the glass mirrors just slide it to the side.

People might drop by but that’s not a big deal. It’s not much to handle with them.”

“No disrespect, Aviana, but I’m a nanny, not a maid. As stated in our contract, I have no problem filling in for you doing your duties. You need the help so that’s what I’m here for. My services are to give you and your household breathing room and relieve stress.”

“Right. My bad Sorimah.”

“It’s not an issue. I’m here for you and Akeera. Don’t overthink it.”

“Cool. I have all the information you will need sitting on the kitchen counter. Follow me.”

We made our way back down to the oversized kitchen. I loved to cook, and this shit had the latest cookware. I was eager to have my time here.

“Here’s a binder that holds the keys to the house and the alarm codes. Her wake up and put down time should be listed. Uhm, I listed some things she likes to do and also her medical history. You basically have her life in this notebook. Please keep up with it.”

“I will.”

“Okay, I have to leave and go handle some business. I won’t be back until around dinner time. You’ll be left alone in this house a lot and I’m sorry about that. Call me if you have a hard time finding something.”

Nodding, I took a seat at the bar and began to look over the notebook.

This was ridiculous that she even hired me.

Her daughter was only five and the distance she was creating with her child would cause Akeera to resent her in the long run.

She needed the attention and care of her mother.

I didn’t understand why she didn’t want to be around her child.

Pulling out my cellphone, I called EJ so that I could give her the details of this fiasco Aviana had put me in. Plus, from the vibes of everything, I felt like she was doing this behind her man’s back. She specifically gave me a time that was after he left the house. I didn’t like this one bit.

She answered right away. “You’re calling early. What’s up sis’?”

“I just want you to know this woman is a horrible mother.”

“What the fuck? Why would you say that and what did she do for you to call me like this?” she asked laughing wholeheartedly.

“She left to go handle business which I’m confused on what business she has to handle if you ain’t got no job or business of your own. Talking ’bout she’ll be back around dinner.”

“You are so wrong for this,” she said still chuckling at my comment.

“EJ, I know how we grew up so when we came into good money after starting our business, we got a little boogie. We started wearing designer clothes, driving nicer cars, and even upgraded our living space from the two-bedroom apartment we shared. This house is huge and it’s clear that the baby daddy or boyfriend is the money maker up in this muthafucka. ”

“She can be on a trust fund or something sis’. You don’t know anything about her and her bank account. She came to you for help so help the damn girl.”

“I can bet money the nigga she with don’t know a thing about me being here.”

“If he doesn’t, then that’s a mess waiting to unfold. I have to go sis’ but call me later if he doesn’t put you out.”

“Girl… I will. I love you.”

“Love you back.”

With that the call ended and I flipped the notebook closed. I looked around the kitchen before I decided to snoop through the cabinets. As I made it through, I could see the expensive taste they had in China as well.
