116. Sterling
Chapter 116
Sterling
It’s later than I intended. Already after dark. But I’m here.
My heart thuds loudly inside my chest as I pull my truck up to the front of my house and turn the engine off.
Fisher and the guests are spending tonight on the river again, but I told them I had to go help out the other campsite.
And I did. I drove over to where Glen and Simpson have a group of hikers. I helped them with dinner. I used the showers at their campground. And then I told them goodbye.
Because I’m spending tonight at Black Mountain Lodge.
I slam the truck door and stride across the gravel.
Only I’m not going to sleep until I bury myself inside Courtney.
