Dionysus

“I could have stayed in Covana for this shit,” I said as I stood in front of the cell bars.

I thought after the whole Samara thing, shit would simmer down.

However, it seemed to do nothing but kick things up a notch.

The muhfuckas didn’t even give us a reason for snatching us up as they did.

The weird part was that every last one of us was here, even Mali’s ass, and he was in a fucking wheelchair.

They didn’t give a shit about anything, the way they dragged him, letting his legs flail everywhere.

While being hauled off like pigs, I heard one of the officers say something that let me know they thought Chev was amongst us.

Right then, I knew Clark had to be behind this, and the worst part was that with me being arrested, it could be his excuse to fuck me over, not only with Chi Kappa Chi, but school as well.

Diamond’s pacing started to bother me.

“My fucking daughter and wife, man!” he said, slamming his fist into his hand. “Let me out this muhfucka!” he shouted.

“Everybody, chill. Y’all act like this is new to us. We’ve been here before. We’ll get out,” Preach said.

I waved him off. “Preach, nigga, I get it. You want us to give to God, but right now ain’t the time for a holy lecture,” I snapped.

Monfua sat back on the bench with his arms crossed. “This is some bullshit. I should have stayed my ass at home.”

“Well, you didn’t. See what Fomo gets you? Now you’re here with the rest of us,” Streets said to him.

Foe shot up. “All y’all niggas sound like some bitches. We’re going to get out, and when we do, I’m sending fire up someone’s ass.”

I turned to Foe and nodded. “On God.”

Zeus said nothing as he sat with his hand on his head. Seeing my brother like this bothered me. I walked over to him.

“You cool, Zeus?”

He lifted his head. “I’m straight. I’m just worried about Freckles. We have our appointment tomorrow to get our daughter, and—”

“Damn. I’m sorry, bro. We’ll get out,” I tried to assure him. “It’s nice to hear I’m going to have a sister-niece, though. Can’t be another little hard head running around when you got one already,” I tried joking, but he didn’t laugh.

My nerves were starting to get the best of me.

My brother was all fucked up, and I began thinking about Samara.

She had already been through enough shit, and with the breakup and everything, I knew her emotions were probably all over the place.

Maybe it was because of shit like this that she didn’t want to marry me anymore.

Now that we were officially no longer together, I looked at shit differently, and it was possible Mars couldn’t handle it all.

“Y’all know that nigga Chevy is going to go to war behind this shit. I hope y’all are ready,” I told them.

Beans came toward me. “I stay ready but know that if who I think is behind this is behind this, he isn’t going down without a fight. Chevy probably met his match.”

“Chevy has a tribe. It doesn’t matter. His ass is cooked.”

Beans didn’t need to remind anyone in the cell of what was to come because we all knew.

Although I wasn’t here for the first few months when they arrived, the moment I set foot into Toussaint and saw how shit was playing out, I knew the bright skies were only being masked because beneath it all were hell’s gates waiting to be opened.

I did my homework on Clark; the man was delusional and fucked up in the head.

If I knew nothing else, I knew how crazy people moved.

Most often, they moved smart, but if that type of person was living in Clark, then it was living in Chevy too, and that was the scariest part.

Things were about to get turned up, and for the sake of the Zoo, we all needed to be on point for Chevy.
