268- The Event III

"Nina! This is MSin Palace. It belongs to Rafael. It means... it means ... it’s mine, Nina. Oh God! It’s mine!"

Sophia always heard the tales of the great Valerie Aaron from Marissa but never got a chance to meet her face to face. Tonight was that unlucky moment when this woman decided to bump into her.

She wasn’t aware of how long Marissa kept bearing her sister’s bullsh*it. Her respect for her friend had increased tenfold.

"Can you please sit down!" Nina hissed but Valerie was too excited to take back her seat.

No, this was her moment, and she had every right to enjoy it after spending so many days in torture.

"Valerie. Stop embarrassing yourself," Nina tried holding her elbow and Valerie shoved her hand away conveniently.

Sophia was observing the duo with interest. They both were similar and deserved each other’s company.

When Nina’s eyes met Sophia’s, an uneasy feeling washed over the elder woman. She quickly looked away, pretending not to recognize Valerie anymore.

Good! She is equally embarrassed by her daughter-in-law. Sophia thought with a smirk.

Dean stood on the stage waiting for the fireworks and cheering to die down. He had a playful smile on his face as if he was carrying a secret in his heart and was excited to share it with the audience.

"Were you always this dumb or did you recently get your head hit with a rock?" Sophia asked Valerie in a dead serious tone, leaning over so that Joseph couldn’t hear her.

Though she didn’t give a damn but still it was best if he stayed away from this. The cute man was too busy enjoying the fireworks and Dean’s speech.

She was waiting for a comeback, but Valerie was so out of control right now, that she was grinning widely like a fool.

Oh, Marissa. I wasn’t expecting that I would enjoy it so much.

With a smirk, Sophie moved ahead and placed the side of her face against Joseph’s arm. Smiling to himself, Joseph tilted his head a little and held her chin between his index finger and thumb, "Enjoying yourself?"

Sophia just nodded.

Oh, yes, Joseph. I’m enjoying it a lot. It seems like the enjoyment keeps getting better.

When the cheering died down, Dean again took the mic near his mouth, "Thank you. Now there is one more announcement," he chuckled, "And I swear this is the last announcement before I ask our President Mr. Rafael Sinclair to make his appearance with his family."

Valerie gasped, "Family? Oh-huh... N-Nina see ... th-they are going to invite me, Nina," she was jumping like a giddy school girl.

Sophia rolled her eyes, and this time Nina gave her an apologetic smile.

Oh. Feeling embarrassed? Isn’t she your favorite daughter-in-law? Someone who is blonde and doesn’t have even two brain cells?

To hide her smile, Sophia hid her face into Joseph’s arm. He silently held her hand, with his eyes still on the podium.

The central pathway leading from the entrance to the podium, gradually brightened with the lights, glowing on either side, illuminating the way for Rafael.

With shivering hands, Valerie took out her compact mirror and fixed her lip color quickly. She then dabbed some setting powder on her face. When she was done, she found Nina looking at her with those killer looks.

"What! I’ve oily skin and it shines in camera lights," she slipped the compact inside her purse and sat down. She was shaking her leg in restlessness.

So, all this wait was not for nothing. Rafael still cared about her. She could easily rule the MSin office and this palace?

"The second announcement is..." Dean raised his brows, "I was just asked by Mr. Sinclair to announce in public that this palace now... belongs to his wife!" he yelled the last three words and with that Valerie was again on her feet hooting.

Nobody noticed her odd actions because there was so much noise that it almost drowned out her voice. However, Nina didn’t look happy.

"What the fu*ck! Has Rafael gone mad?" all this time when she was asking Geena to attract Rafael, he was gifting such a big piece of property to this trash.

He could at least have discussed it with his mom.
