Chapter 20
Matt
“Scarlett, I have to go.” I’m trying to wake her so she knows I didn’t leave without saying goodbye. She’s lying naked with the sheet covering her ass and legs, hair sprawled over the pillow, making me want to stay with her all day.
Weird.
I’ve never wanted to stay in one place all day, but last night was different.
I’m usually not into dating one girl. I get with a woman, the relationship fizzles out, and then I move on to the next.
All I want is more of Scarlett. I was thinking it’d be easier to concentrate on work after spending the night with her, but all I’m going to be thinking about is her and what happened last night.
I’ve never been in this position before.
It’s always felt like a lot of effort, and I’ve got shit to do. Scarlett blows that thinking away.
I’ve never wanted to please someone so much. I touched every part of her body I could, making sure she came as many times as I could get out of her. I hope I erased the memory of any guy from her past.
Her body responded like it was in perfect sync with mine.
She likes when I take control—she may not be used to that, but I think we got to another level.
She tried to take over several times, but I wouldn’t let her.
I’m under the impression she has to be in control, but doesn’t want to be all the time. She let go with me.
I would blow off whatever I planned this morning so we could go for another round, but I promised Grant I’d stay focused on the business. I’ve got plenty of work to do I shouldn’t ignore.
“Scarlett,” I try whispering in her ear, “I have to head out, sweetheart. I’ll call you later.”
I give her a kiss on the cheek, still debating if I should stay. I could rearrange my schedule, work from here, but I don’t have my laptop and I have to go to one more building today.
You need to leave.
My feet stay planted as I move a strand of hair out of her face. “Sweetheart?”
She nods with a hum. It’s the response I needed to proceed and get to work. I glance down at my watch; I’m already behind. I wanted to go to one more building before the calls started coming in.
By the time I get into my car my phone starts buzzing.
I put offers in a few buildings yesterday and am expecting calls back to see if they were accepted or not.
From there I’ll have to wait until closing, then I can get started on updating the buildings.
They were all in need of repair, but that’s how you get a good deal.
Instead of going over everything I need to do, flashbacks of my hand grasping silky hair and deep, blue eyes staring back at me replay in my mind.
A smile creeps up on my face. I grab the steering wheel, trying to settle my excitement.
I’m on a high from last night. There’s no way I’ll ever get her out of my head.
Her body is sexy as hell, but it’s her fucking eyes that get me—the ones looking right through me at who I really am .
I’ve never kept eye contact during sex before, but last night I couldn’t stop. I demanded we look at one another the entire time.
Goddamn, the way she looked as she came—shuttering and moaning. Her falling apart over me. The sounds she made.
My phone continues to buzz, interrupting my dirty thoughts. I assume the call is from Grant or an agent, so I answer without looking.
“Matt Reding.”
“Matt? Come home.”
