Chapter 3 The Sweet Taste Test
The man with gold-rimmed glasses came in and ordered a bowl of sesame paste.
But he only took one sip.
Then he frowned and put down the spoon, and I frowned too.
The man with gold-rimmed glasses looked at me and explained, "I don't like sweet things."
"Oh." I lowered my head in disappointment.
Carefully prepared desserts not being appreciated by customers always disappointed me.
The man with gold-rimmed glasses hesitated for a while, then picked up the spoon and continued eating.
He ate very elegantly.
The sleeves of his suit shirt at the wrist were rolled up, revealing an expensive watch and half of his firm forearm.
"I have finished eating."
I smiled with curved eyes. "Thank you for your patronage. Fifteen yuan."
But he glanced into the air as if something was there.
I also glanced.
I saw nothing.
"Sorry," he withdrew his gaze and used his slender fingers to adjust his glasses. "I will give you two hundred yuan. Can I ask you one question?"
"Of course." My smile deepened.
He asked me, "What time does your Husband come home every night?"
I looked at him in surprise.
He smiled. "Can't answer?"
I shook my head. My mouth spoke faster than my brain. "My Husband hasn't come home for a long time."
After saying that I was stunned myself.
I suddenly remembered.
My Husband had not come home for a long time.
He was too busy.
The man with gold-rimmed glasses's eyes flickered after hearing. "Hasn't come home..."
