Chapter 21

-Kace-

I seemed to make my wife feel quite daring. That was why I asked her if she wanted to know what could happen.

“Maybe give me a hint,” she teased.

I felt surprised, drawing back a little, but she smiled, and her eyes turned a little heated. I was unsure if she noticed, but she sank her teeth a little into her bottom lip while her eyes glanced at mine for a short second.

“You want a hint?” I inquired.

“I mean, I did say sex wasn’t off the table, and you mentioned we were going to continue to talk about it,” she reminded me. “We are learning about each other after all.”

Yes, she had definitely had time to think about what was going to happen between us, and she was enjoying the idea more and more.

“Very well,” I said, and I scooted a little closer, but she didn’t move.

“First of all,” I began, before reaching out and trailing a finger down the side of her jaw and neck, “you aren’t wearing anything. That’s the first hint you get.”

I saw her eyes turning even more heated, and I could see it becoming easier for her to talk about this. I had to go slow, though. I couldn’t jump right into the filthy things I desired to do to her.

“Your second hint is that I’m not wearing anything either,” I explained to her, hearing how her breathing changed and her eyes turned slightly hooded. “Your third is that you’re going to be loud.”

“Loud?” she echoed.

“Loud, letting your husband know how much you enjoy everything that happens.”

“Very loud, then.”

“Hmm,” I agreed, smiling, as she carried a teasing glint in her eyes. “And you’re going to beg for more. Maybe sometimes you won’t be able to touch me.”

“I won’t?” she inquired.

“No, because your hands will be tied.”

“They will?” she asked, surprised.

“If you want them to.”

I leaned closer to her, my need for her only growing. Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe we shouldn’t talk about this since I knew how good it felt to be between her legs.

“What if I wanted it the other way around?” she teased.

“Want to be able to do with me as you please?” I asked.

She thought about it, then nodded. “I might.”

“Then we can switch.”

Her eyes seemed to sparkle with interest, and I leaned closer because I was dying to kiss her again. Her lips had become a new addiction of mine, but she placed her hand over my mouth and shook her head, surprising me.

“I said give me hints, not a pre-taste,” she scolded me teasingly.

I felt a bit impressed. I had to say that I had not expected that from my wife. Maybe some distance from the awful people in her life had brought out a new side of her—a playful and witty one.

I moved back, gazing at her with admiration. “Had enough?” I inquired.

“I think I get the idea,” she chuckled, making me smile.

“You can be a bit of a tease.”

“Is that a bad thing?” she asked.

“Not if I enjoy it, and I seem to,” I admitted.

“Then I shall continue,” she laughed, only making my smile widen.

Yes, I definitely wanted her to continue, I concluded, before we continued to talk for a little while, the conversation shifting toward more normal subjects. But when Annabella began yawning, I knew it was time to say stop.

I followed her to the bedroom, but before she could go in, I grabbed her hand, turning her to me. Then rested my hands on her hips, seeing her smile.

“Shouldn’t you kiss your husband goodnight?” I asked.

With Annabella, a more teasing side came out of me as well. I was not a person who really joked around, maybe except with Cody.

Annabella shook her head a little but didn’t tell me no. She leaned closer to me, resting her hand on my shoulder and bending toward me, kissing my lips.

I reached up, placing my hand on her neck and deepening the kiss. Fuck, I wanted to go into that bedroom with her. I wanted to make sure none of us got any sleep, but I allowed her to pull away and then watched her when she turned around and walked inside her bedroom, definitely staring at her ass.

Tonight had been good , I thought as I went to my own bedroom, slipped out of the chair, and got ready. I was definitely looking forward to more of them.

-Annabella-

The next morning, Kace and I had breakfast together, and I suggested we have dinner together as well. He accepted, yet he informed me, he couldn’t spend the day with me. He had too much work to catch up on, and I found myself eagerly anticipating Monday so I could return to my job.

I missed it, and I was grateful to have something to go back to, but I realized Kace and I hadn’t discussed the dynamic between us. Was Kace a traditional man? Did he prefer a traditional marriage? I wouldn’t let that stop me from working, but I did wonder what he wanted from all of this.

“Kace?” I asked just as he was drinking the last of his coffee.

“Yes?” he inquired.

“What kind of marriage do you want?”

“What kind of marriage? This kind. Husband and wife,” he replied, confused.

“No, I mean, what kind, as in, are you a traditional person?”

“Traditional?” he echoed.

“I work,” I told him.

“Okay,” he replied, seeming even more confused.

“Is that something that bothers you?” I inquired.

He tilted his head a little to the side, reminding me a little of a lost-looking puppy, which was very close to making me burst out laughing.

“Why would it?” he asked.

“If you’re a person who enjoys a traditional marriage, it would,” I pointed out.

“I see,” he replied.

“Are you?”

“Do I want a housewife to take care of everything and the kids while I work and never see her?” he questioned.

“Yeah, pretty much,” I said.

“No, I would hate that,” he admitted. “Work. Do what you enjoy doing. Besides, I have a housekeeper. What would I need a housewife for?”

I liked that answer and smiled, nodding approvingly, and he noticed.

“Oh, I can see I answered correctly,” he chuckled.

“You did,” I admitted.

“What would have happened if I said the wrong thing?”

“Then I would have told you to go screw yourself because I’m not quitting.”

“What do you work as?” he asked, surprising me since my family never asked about my work.

“I’m an architect.”

“Is that something you have always wanted to be?” he wondered.

His next question surprised me just as much, as it showed he was genuinely interested in what I had to say. That made me feel very good.
