Chapter 5 The House Transfer
The moment I received the report's conclusion, my entire blood froze.
How could this be?
In the next second, I burst into the hospital ward, shook the person on the bed awake, and flung the report right in front of his eyes.
"You should give me an explanation, shouldn't you?"
The man on the bed saw it was me. His tired eyes landed on the scattered report.
Then he forced out a series of low chuckles from his throat.
"Heh... that is right. You are my daughter. You carry the blood of my old Jiang family! So your life, every penny you earn, everything about you was meant from birth to fill this family and patch up your brother's debts! This is your destiny!"
I looked at his self-righteous face and felt utterly hopeless.
"Dad, Jiang Chen and I are both your children. The same blood flows in our veins. Why... why do you have to crush my bones to brew soup for him?"
Before the words fell, a loud bang sounded as the ward door was kicked open violently!
The three of them appeared at the doorway.
Sun Xiaoqian pointed at me.
"Husband, it is her! She went to my parents to sow discord and urged me to divorce you!"
Jiang Chen's eyes turned red.
"You slut dared to incite Sun Xiaoqian to divorce me! You deserve death!"
Looking at his distorted face, only indifference remained in my heart.
I could almost foresee Sun Xiaoqian's future.
Once she lost her usefulness, what a miserable end awaited her.
Mom slowly closed the ward door with a backhand, cutting off the outside world.
The corner of her mouth curved slightly.
"Since you have returned, that is good. Then let us settle the total accounts."
She snatched the paternity test report from my hand and gave it a contemptuous glance.
"My good daughter, why do you not believe Mom?
Of course you are our biological child. Precisely because you are biological, you should be more obedient and repay us more!
We gave birth to you and raised you, sacrificed so much.
You should grind your bones into oil for us!
You should willingly be your brother's stepping stone! You should accept your fate!"
She snorted coldly.
"Want to resist? Let me tell you, even if you sue all the way to the highest authority, there is no law in this world that can convict parents for using their daughter's money! In this lifetime, you can only toil like an ox or horse for the old Jiang family, unless you die!"
Tears slowly trailed down my cheeks. I wearily closed my eyes.
"Perhaps... this is probably my fate."
I let out a heavy sigh.
"I agree to transfer the house to Jiang Chen."
The ward fell into instant dead silence.
Joy nearly burst from Mom's face.
Dad also struggled to sit upright.
Jiang Chen looked at Sun Xiaoqian excitedly, as if he had hit the jackpot.
"That is right! If you had been sensible earlier, there would not have been all this trouble!"
Mom immediately switched to a benevolent expression.
"In the next two days, we will quickly get someone to clean the paint off the door, install the glass, and set up a new bridal chamber for Sun Xiaoqian."
Then I turned my gaze toward Sun Xiaoqian.
"One more thing. You must delete the posts online and publicly clarify that you were not pregnant at all and that I did not push you."
Sun Xiaoqian nodded rapidly, a fake smile piling up on her face.
"Yes, yes, sister. That was all a misunderstanding! Maybe... maybe it was my period messing up, and I was in a bad mood so I spouted nonsense. How could sister push me? We are all one family!"
I curled my lips and said nothing more.
Under Mom and Dad's near-escort supervision, the five of us headed to the housing administration bureau.
The atmosphere seemed relaxed.
However, the transfer process reached the halfway point. The staff frowned and pushed the documents back.
"No good. Your house still has one million and eighty thousand in loans unpaid. According to the rules, the loan must be repaid in full and the mortgage released before the transfer can be handled."
"What?! One million and eighty thousand?!"
