chapter 3

Landon asked, "Jordan, Chloe, is there something wrong with this helicopter?"

He still naively thought Jordan and Chloe were worried about the helicopter's safety.

So, he patiently explained to them, "Rest assured. This pilot used to fly fighter jets. He can absolutely ensure Nora's and my safety."

Chloe held my hand tightly, afraid I might break free.

She said, "Listen to me. I won't harm you. There's something wrong with this plane."

Seeing Jordan and Chloe's firm attitude, Landon had no choice but to say, "Then let's take the wedding car instead."

"No way," Jordan and Chloe refused simultaneously, "You can't take the wedding car either."

I unconsciously gave a painful smile.

This scene still happened.

"Why? Didn't you just say the wedding car was fine and told Nora to get on it quickly?" Landon asked unwillingly.

However, Jordan and Chloe looked at him with disgust.

Jordan said, "Whether it's the wedding car or the plane, there's a problem. We won't let our daughter marry you. Give up on that idea."

After saying that, they were about to pull me away.

I used all my strength to shake off their hands.

I shouted, "Enough. How long are you going to torment me? This is already the fifth time."

I couldn't hold it in anymore. All the grievances I had suppressed for so many years erupted at this moment.

I looked at them, my eyes filled with tears.

I said, "I don't understand why you're doing this. Why? I'm 32 years old. If you don't want me to get married, you can just tell me directly. Why do you keep pushing me to marry, only to force me to divorce on the wedding day every time?"

Jordan tried to persuade me, "Nora, I don't want this either. But you can't marry this man."

I asked, "Why?"

Jordan replied, "Because there are issues with the wedding car and the plane."

Same reason again.

I sneered and said, my attitude turning firm, "I will never believe you again. This time, I must get married."

I turned around and was about to walk toward the wedding car. But the next second, Chloe picked up a stone and threw it at the car.

I shouted, "Mom, what are you doing?"

I watched in horror, feeling they were crazier than ever.

"I smashed the wedding car. You can't get married!" Chloe, like someone deranged, went on to smash several cars.

Even Jordan seemed influenced by her, throwing a stone at the helicopter nearby.

I gave them a thumbs-up.

I sneered, "You're really something. But it's fine. I can walk to the hotel."

I grabbed Landon's hand and quickly walked forward.

Chloe shouted, "No! No! Even if it costs our lives, we must stop you from getting married."

Jordan and Chloe rushed over again.

I clutched my stomach and collapsed to the ground.

I said, "Dad, Mom, I'm pregnant. You're going to be grandparents."

They immediately stopped in their tracks.

I continued, "For this child, please let us be together. I can't let my child grow up without a father."

Their faces showed a troubled expression. But in an instant, they became fierce again.

Jordan said, "Nora, you can have the baby, but you can't marry him. You must get a divorce immediately."

"If you don't listen to us, we'll cause a scene at the hotel. I've already messaged our relatives. They'll be here soon."

I wiped away my tears and slowly stood up.

I shouted at them uncontrollably, "Why? Why is this happening? Do you really hate me that much?"

Chloe said, "We're doing this for your own good. That wedding car is the best proof."

She came up to pull me, and I directly pushed her down.

I roared, "Stop using that excuse to fool me!"

Seeing Chloe fall to the ground, Jordan stepped forward and slapped me. "Ungrateful daughter! Do you know what your mother sacrificed for you to get married smoothly?"

Seeing me get hit, Landon immediately pulled Jordan away and started arguing with him.

Relatives rushing over from afar thought Jordan and Chloe were being bullied. Without asking anything, they charged in and started fighting with Landon's friends.

I saw Landon pinned to the ground by several people. His face was bruised and swollen, yet he still kept looking at me.

He said, "Nora, don't be afraid. I'm fine."

I don't understand how things turned out like this.

I cried and tried to help. I wanted to persuade them not to fight because of me.

In the chaos, I don't know who kicked me, and then I fell to the ground.

Tears and blood blurred my vision. I didn't have the strength to get up.

My gaze landed on the helicopter not far away. Then I looked at the row of smashed wedding cars.

In that moment, a series of clues finally connected in my mind, revealing the whole truth to me.

I started laughing, tears streaming down. I finally understood why Jordan and Chloe tried to stop me from getting married every time they saw wedding cars.
