I t's so good to come back to Zabella, where everyone knows exactly who I am. Not that I haven't built a brand and an awareness in the human world, but that shit takes a lot of work. Being the daughter of the King's advisor, everyone knows my name and reputation.

I was raised in the castle like a princess. It's only right that I become a queen. I'm not as excited about the responsibilities, but the title and the crown will be worth it all.

Now, it's just a matter of sorting out the whole Roman-doesn't-want-to-be-my-king business.

I was tired of talking to my father over the phone, so I figured it would just be easier if I came home for a bit and surprised him with a visit.

As my heels click on the white and gold marble floors of the castle, I'm plagued with so many fond memories in these halls.

Why am I the bad guy for wanting something I've always deserved?

My father raised me to be a queen, and I won't let him down either.

When I reach his room, the door is cracked open.

Just before I push through the doors, I hear him shouting, but I can only make out a few words, “After all this time...it's not possible...we've come too far...” So I move closer to the wall and really focus on listening. I don't use my wolf's strengths very often, so it takes me a minute to really tune in to his conversation.

When I've heard the end of the conversation, my stomach is in knots, and I feel like I'm going to throw up.

How could they do this?

I just wanted to be a queen.

I never wanted that.

I kick my shoes off and sprint out of the castle.

I have to get out of here.

I have to do something.

They can't do this to me!
