My Tempting Woman
Chapter 1. surprise
It was a usual day for Michael Johnson when he returned home from his working day. To his astonishment, he found the lights in his house were off.
That time was difficult for him, but he didn’t give up.
As a single parent, he tried his best to bring up Eva in a healthy environment.
It was through his devotion and hardship that Eva turned out to be a quite sensible girl; she was not like kids of her age, throwing tantrums and doing flings.
She knew how much his father sacrificed for her, and she didn’t want to bother her dad more by getting involved in something that he would not appreciate.
Eva always made Michael proud, whether it was scoring excellent marks in academics, being a fine artist, a piano player, or, overall, a home baker who loves baking.
When Eva completed her graduation, she told her dad that she wanted to attend some professional culinary classes as she wanted to open her restaurant in their hometown.
At first, Michael took her baking interest as just a pastime, but when she notified him of her plans,.
Michael was in a jiff as he never separated her daughter from him, and, for this course, she had to move out to another city.
So he did what he could to do his best. He gave her assurance that soon he was going to search for an institution that would help her.
At present, Michael switched on his flashlight mobile to search for Eva in dark, but he shrieked in surprise when he heard a flashy voice and the lights went on
“Surprise. “
Michael took a deep breath to calm down his racing heartbeats as Eva came to hug him. Eva planned a surprise birthday party with the neighbors and some of Michael’s friends.
After hugging her daughter and kissing the crown of her head, Michael greeted the guests, who had been constantly supporting his life.
The party started with the cake-cutting. Eva prepared a three-tier cake for her father’s special day. Michael offered Eva the first piece of cake, which she had with a smiling face, and then she fed her dad, who is the most important person in her life.
The neighbors helped Eva arrange the party, and it was not the first time, as in the last ten years they used to help the Johnson family whenever they needed some kind of help.
Michael Johnson was a middle-class man working as a senior engineer for a construction company. He was a respected man and a very kind and humble human being.
When his beloved wife was diagnosed with a brain tumor, he ensured she received the best treatment she needed. However, within six months, she lost her life.
There were many proposals for him from women who used to claim that they would be the best mothers for Eva, but he didn’t trust anyone and took all responsibility by himself. It was not as easy as he thought, but even so, they both got it through.
The party was a success, and every guest, as usual, appreciated Eva for her management skills and her hospitality.
Michael's coworker James was saying goodbye to the Johnson family.
“We had a wonderful time. God bless you. But you know what? We are going to miss you a lot. Especially your special cupcakes.”
“What do you mean you will miss me, Please elaborate?’
Michael rubbed his temple and was afraid of Eva’s reaction to this news.
“Didn’t Michael tell you about his promotion? I thought you celebrated that news too with his birthday.”
“Promotion! Really. But what about that missing part? Sorry, but I still couldn’t get it.
"Promotion goes along with transfer, but I don’t know how you will manage it there. You know it’s the site of our new project; it's not a very developed place. Anyway,
I will take your leave.”.
Michael whispered to her, who was still looking at the door with a confused face
“We will talk later, dear."
Eva gave a nod to her father.
After the guests went to their places, Eva cleaned up the mess first, and then she went to have a shower.
Her mind was still trying to absorb this information.
Eva never wanted to leave this town, and she was born and brought up here, but it’s a matter of her father’s job, his growth, and his career.
She wanted to talk with her father first and assure him she can move out anywhere with him with no uncertainty
It was night when Eva entered her father’s room with a hot cup of coffee. Michael beamed at her and took the cup from her hand. He signaled for her to sit beside him on the adjacent couch.
“Dad, is it true?”
“What?” Michael asked, knowing very well what her daughter is asking about
“the promotion and transfer thing."
"Yes, it is."
"So when we are going to shift, I mean I should start with the packing, as it will take many days.”
“Eva, only I am the one who is going to that site. James was right. It is not a friendly town, and it is a site where I will stay for six months to administer the project. My colleagues told me they provide a small dorm-like arrangement and I don’t want to take you there.’”
“But I never live alone in this house, and I don’t want to leave you, dad."
Michael gave a sad smile at her, as he was also upset to leave her like this, and it’s a hard task for him too
“You will not stay alone, nor am I going to leave you alone in this town."
“What do you mean?”
"Do you remember Rose Smith, your mother‘s friend, who visited us some years ago, and you got very fond of her?”
“I do. What about her? “
“You know she lives in LA, so I already talked to her about my concern for you.
She offered, "You can stay with her at her place with her family."
"No, no way."
“Eva…. Try to understand my child. You know you are the only one whom I left with, and you are precious to me. I just want to assure myself that you are safe and are in excellent hands until I return. And if you don’t want this,.
Then there is only one option left:. I should resign from my job and start searching for another source of income. "
"Dad, I didn’t mean this, but Rose Smith belongs to a very wealthy background, and I don’t want to be a burden to her."
Michael chuckled at her innocence. “Why do you think like this? You met her, didn’t you?
I agree that she belongs to a very wealthy family, but she is a gem of a person.
You know, during your mother"s illness, Rose was the first one who asked me about how I was managing the expenses and was concerned about you too.
"However, their way of life must be very different from mine. Of course, we are not the lavish kind, and we are pretty basic. I don’t know, dad, but I don’t think this is a pleasant idea.”
"Okay, then, how about studying there at your favorite institution and completing your credential in a six-month program?“
Eva’s eyes got wide in surprise when her dad forwarded the papers. She jumped in joy and hugged her dad.
Michael patted her hair. He knew about his transfer for the last fifteen days, but he wanted to make the proper arrangements for her daughter, and he knew what would make her agree. Now he was content looking at her excited face.
Eva reached her room and began to talk with her friends about her admission to LA, her desired institution , which is a renowned
