Chapter 40 Dinner Date
That night Eva entered the dining room in slow steps; her heart was throbbing inside her rib cage, and she wanted to mask her real emotions, which are fear of Stephen To date, she has handled this matter lightly but after she saw Robinson’s condition, her mind warned her about who she is dealing with, Stephen smith.
The way things are getting unfavorable for her disturbed Eva.
When Stephen noticed her slow pace and her trembling form, he understood his plan got successful, as now onwards Eva will think a hundred times before pulling any stunt like this.
Eva greeted the Smith family and got settled on her chair for her dinner; she didn’t even notice the menu and started serving her plate with her hands trembling as she could feel everybody’s gaze on her.
Rose concluded that her friend’s accident was the reason for her nervousness and gloomy face.
When rose inquired about her friend in the evening, Eva just replied that she was still recovering, so Rose asked little, but now looking at her sad face, she could assume that maybe her condition is not that good
Stephen started with his words
“I considered that tomorrow I am free and Eva is also having a break from her classes, so it will be fine if we plan for that dinner date only tomorrow. What do you suggest, Eva? Is it fine with you too? “
Eva dropped the fork in uncertainty She looked at Stephen with wide eyes, She asked in nervousness
“Dinner date!!!?
"Yes, did you forget about the bet and the prize? Don’t tell me you forget about the winner too. “
Stephen let out a taunting way. It’s not that Eva forgot about the thing, but whatever occurred today made her more scared of Stephen. And in these circumstances, she was not even willing to stay near Stephen, but her luck was going against her.

“No, it’s ok. Tomorrow is fine for me too."
Eva stated in her soft yet confident tone. Rose inquired again
“Are you sure, dear? We understand you are already worried about your friend’s condition. So it’s fine. I mean, Stephen could arrange this dinner date on some other day.
“Rose, it’s better I should fulfill my commitments before I leave from here. As you know, I will return to my town soon. “ Rose gave a nod at her
“Very well then; tomorrow night be ready at 8.00, “Stephen told her in his firm tone
That night, when Eva reached her room, the first thing she did was to connect the call to Sara, as she wanted to share her misery with Sara
Eva knows her dad will not believe her distrust of Stephen, as he will ask for some valid proof, and there is no evidence of this.
The moment Sara picked up the call, Eva started sobbing badly, which made Sara panic. After crying her heart out, Eva started detailing the situation to Sara
Sara was also frightened to know whatever happened with Robinson. But for now, she has to handle Eva too
“Calm down, dear; we don’t have any evidence that Stephen is behind all this."
“Don’t you understand my words, Sara? It’s him and only him who else has so much authority to thrash a man than pay him a good amount of money, pay for the medical bill, and don’t forget about that threat part.”
“Okay, I still agree with you. Now what are you going to do? I mean, about that
“What else? I will go for dinner with him, but this time I decided I will leave this city the day after tomorrow. I am coming back to my. Home, I don’t want to stay here anymore.
“But what about your dad? I mean, will he allow you to return it all alone?”

Eva tried to get some sleep as she needed some nap for her body and for the peace of her mind as she had to face the devil the next day
The next morning, Eva reached for the breakfast table with a confident face.
She tried hard to hide her nervousness with a smile.
Whereas Stephen could feel her nervous form, but he decided tonight he would try to keep his behavior calm and composed so that she couldn’t get scared of him.

At the time Stephen arrived to pick her up, soon they started for the hotel.
Upon reaching the place, the staff guided them to the restaurant.
The opulent restaurant did not take aback Eva, as she had expected something of this sort from Stephen.
The decorations were perfect for a romantic date, which made Eva skeptical; still, she tried to hide her nervousness behind her calm face.

Stephen kept observing her face. Her eyes didn’t spark looking at the arrangements as they used to before.
He was furious at the staff for making her woman disappointed by these types of decorations.
Still, he kept his anger aside, as his one wrong move would destroy his plan.
After reaching the table, he pulled the chair for her.
Eva got settled on the chair, whispering a small thank you to Stephen
Stephen got settled on the opposite side of the table, and Eva was thankful for this distance, but the next moment his passionate stare on her made her uncomfortable,looked at Stephen, who passed a smile to her and Eva returned the smile
Stephen fake coughed and then started the talk
“I hope you like the arrangements.” “
“Yes, it’s beautiful. This place is quite famous. I heard about this from some of my classmates.
Stephen chuckled. "Yes, it is, and it’s always packed."
Eva looked around the restaurant but she didn’t find any other person’s presence so in curiosity, she asked
“But then how is it so vacant today?"
“Because I booked this entire restaurant for our dinner."
Eva gaped at him at this reply and asked in astonishment,
“What? But I mean, it’s a simple dinner after all.”
Stephen gave a deep look at her and then replied in his indifferent tone,
“Because I don’t want any disturbance in our special moment, and whatever is involved with you is not simple. It’s way more special, at least for me.”
His statement made Eva apprehensive, but still she composed her racing heartbeat to her luck. The soup arrived. Eva started having it without a word, as she wanted to be done with the food. Stephen could easily guess what she was up to, but she had to know what she meant for him.
The waiters started serving the five-course meal one after one, and Eva used to dig in the food the moment the plate used to arrive on the table, obviously to avoid any type of conversation with him. Eva never forgot to compliment the dish so that Stephen will not have doubts about her.
Soon the dessert arrived, and again Eva started having it in a rush. She noticed all the dishes served were her favorites, and each dish was perfect in taste and texture as she would prefer.
Eva was relieved that this was the last meal and then they will leave but in hurry, she dropped a spoonful of dessert on her dress
“Ooh god! sorry,”
“No issues, but that's what I’m trying to say. Why are you in a rush? I think you should clean it up first.
“Yes, you are right; I think I should clean it up.“
“the washroom is on that corner.“
"Yes, excuse me."
Stating this, Eva left for the bathroom; she was cruising herself for behaving so clumsy
But she was pleased that she had finished this hectic dinner successfully.
Soon she entered the washroom and cleaned the dress.
After doing her work perfectly, she came out of the washroom.
She was checking her dress when she bumped into someone; she knew it was her fault, so she muttered small sorry but when she looked after the face of the person, her eyes got wide in surprise as it was harry who was standing in front, Eva gave a warm smile at him, but in return, Harry just glared at her and started walking on the opposite side.
Eva was taken aback. Noticing hisbehavior, she thought he was still angry with him for not inviting him in the birthday party

“Harry, wait!”
Harry stopped in his tracks and spun around to look at her, his eyes still giving a hard look at Eva.
“I know you are upset with me, and it’s obvious, but trust me, I didn’t invite you to my birthday party. As you know, I am staying with Smith's family, and they are having some bitter business relations with your dad's, so I just wanted to avoid any...
Before she should complete her statement, Harry chuckled, which made Eva stop. She doesn’t know why harry is behaving like this
“Bravo!! just exceptional!! You are such an excellent artist, Eva. I always thought you to be a na?ve and soft-hearted girl but now you don’t have to act more than I know your actual face.

“I will tell you, but not before answering my question. How come you are here? I mean, as much as I recall, you are not well enough to even enter this restaurant, so what changed?”
Eva felt insulted by his harsh words. Still, she wanted to know the reason, so she replied honestly
“I am here on a dinner date with Stephen. “
“Oh, so who is behind whom? As you are making me confused, the Smith brothers are behind you or you are behind them, hmm? I mean, look at you, these expensive dresses, this struggle to get their attention. I know your dad must have planned this too. That greedy old man may be your backup plan.
