Chapter 48 Honeymoon
Stephen and Eva stepped up on the podium, and the guests and family members welcomed them with applause.
Stephen forwarded his hand, and Eva put her icy hand in his warm one. Stephen pulled her close and slipped his hand on her waist, whereas Eva kept her other hand on his shoulder.
‘ So ready, Mrs. Smith."
Eva gaped at him for the new name. She gave a nod at him. Soon they started moving on the floor, their steps slowly moving in sync.
It was a slow dance, and Eva kept her gaze down as she could feel his constant stare at her.
“Remember our first dance together?” God, you were so nervous; despite that, you never missed a beat. ‘
Stephen tried to have a conversation with his wife.
Eva again bobbed her head up and down.
Stephen sighed as he wanted to hear her voice her thoughts, but she was behaving like she was not interested in talking with him
His plan was to go with her later. Soon the music ended, and the surrounding people cheered for them.
Eva rushed down the steps and made it to the table where her dad and the Smith family were busy. He trailed behind her at a slow rate. Stephen was trying to guess the reason for her withdrawn attitude. He was wondering why she was avoiding him after marriage.
Stephen also gets settled beside her and becomes involved in the conversation.
Michael smiled at the Smith family and declared,
“Now I can rest in peace, as I have finished the biggest responsibility of my life. Tomorrow I will leave for home. I already had a talk with the doctor, and he approved, but I have to visit him every two months at least this year. “
“Dad.. How will you manage? I cannot allow you to leave. I followed your request and got married, but I’m declining your request now.”
“Eva is right, and I don’t know why you are insisting on leaving. You can stay with us from now onwards." Rose supported Eva
Michael gleamed at his na?ve daughter, who had already started sobbing and then sighed.wanted to spoil her big day, but it’s important to do it now, so he answered rose

“If you don’t mind, can I suggest something? Can we discuss this issue later on, when we return from our honeymoon? Till then, please stay at Smith Mansion. Take it as a request, dad.”
Michael appreciated Stephen addressed him as dad , but at the mention of honeymoon, Eva got nervous
The party ended at night, and many guests left the island in the private jet organized by the Smith family. Later on, only the Smith family members remained on the island. When a sudden goodbye confused Eva.
The Smith family and Michael were making their way back to LA.
Eva was worried about her luggage, which was not packed yet. She does not know that they are going to leave this island soon after the wedding.
Rose hugged her and told her, “Take care of yourself and Stephen too.”
Eva gaped at her to understand her words. As why is she talking like Eva is not accompanying them?
Before she could inquire, Steve also reached her and took her in a side hug
“Take care, dear sister-in-law, and enjoy the honeymoon."
“Honeymoon!!”
“Yes, don’t behave like you don’t know. Stephen whimsically declared that you and he would stay here for a few days until we plan a grand reception in LA.”
Eva blinked her eyes to believe his words
Everyone said their farewells to her and set off in the cruise boat to get to the nearby city and then the airport.
Eva observed the surroundings and found herself alone on the island. Her nervousness increased tenfold as she was standing alone on the well-decorated lawn, where they exchanged the vows some hours ago.
Eva searched for Stephen. It amazed her that few moments before he was beside her, bidding goodbye to the family, than where he must take off
After passing over the garden, Eva reached the villa where they all were staying. A sudden noise bewildered her. She looked around but found nothing. Her heartbeat sped up, and sweat beads arose on her forehead.
After her dad’s accident, she started feeling more agitated about their lives, especially the way they assaulted her in the restaurant. Even though it was a failed attempt, it still left a great trauma in her mind
She heard some movement. Eva took hold of her long gown and started moving in swift steps. She cursed her heels for making it difficult for her. Eva began cursing Stephen too for leaving her alone in this deserted place.
While walking forward, Eva kept scrutinizing the surroundings to keep herself safe from the upcoming danger
Suddenly, she crashed into a rough surface and lost her balance before she could touch the ground. Two muscular arms held her by her waist and prevented her from falling down.
Eva looked up and saw Stephen staring at her with a worried expression.
Eva didn’t waste time and hugged him tightly, holding his shirt in her right grip, and started crying.
Eva, can you tell me what happened? Stephen questioned while embracing her. The state she was in appalled him.
“Where were you?” Eva asked between her sobs.
Stephen patted her back and replied.
“I was just instructing the houseworkers on their work., but what happened to you?”
“I sense that I’m being shadowed by someone.”.
Stephen looked at the surroundings and spotted nothing. Still, he signals one of his men to search and then handles Eva, who is still sobbing, hiding her face in his chest
"Hey, look at me; there is no one. You are just worn out from so much exertion today. Come on now, let’s go to sleep, as you need rest."
Eva looked up, and Stephen gave a reassuring nod at her and wiped her tears. Eva realized her closeness and pulled back. Stephen didn’t like the way she reacted to his closeness, but he was already patient with Eva.
Stephen held her soft hand in his and started moving towards the villa but the moment Eva stepped forward, a wince escaped from her mouth, which made Stephen worried. ‘
“What happened?"
“I think I sprained my foot in a hurry."
Stephen said, "Ooh, okay!” and then scooped her up in bridal style before entering the villa. Eva could not put up a fight as the pain was too much, and she needed his support.
Stephen entered the lavish villa and reached the bedroom, which was decorated with beautiful flowers for their first night. Eva took in her environment, and it was like someone had doused her in cold water. She chose to not pay attention to the decorations.
Stephen noticed it all, and to be truthful, he was already expecting this.
Stephen made her settle on the comfortable bed and then brought some ointment.
He applied the ointment to her foot. The moment he touched her foot, a wince escaped from Eva’s mouth.
Stephen carefully applied it and secured a crepe bandage around her foot.
Stephen then noticed that Eva is still in her wedding gown, which will be uncomfortable for her to sleep in
“You must change. Do you need some help with that dress?”
“No!! I mean, I can manage. “ Eva replied with fear laced in her voice.
“Ok then, take a rest. I am busy with some work. Good night.“
“Good night."
If you’d needed help, I’d have got someone to help you, so don’t bother yourself with unnecessary worries.
You can at least put your trust in me that much..now. “
Eva opened her mouth in shock as she saw him exit the room.
It was inconceivable to her that someone who had been head-over-heels for her in the last few months would behave this way.
