Savvy

S avvy heard Rory come by her suite last night and pause by her door. She hoped that he would knock. She wanted more than anything to have his thick arms wrapped around her.

“Stop torturing yourself,” Cassia said.

“Stop reading my mind.”

“I can’t help it. You’re broadcasting all over the place. I’m surprised that Rory hasn’t heard you practically begging for him to come in,” Cassia said. “You’re asking for a broken heart. What’s worse…”

“I know. The kids will be hurt if Rory and I do end up in a relationship and it doesn’t work out.”

“Precisely,” she said.

“So, Miss Doom and Gloom, how exactly do I stop wanting him? How do I stop falling in love with him?”

“Stay away from him, for starters. I know that you have to be around him sometimes, but get a book from the library and bring it here to read instead of staying down there. You have a beautiful suite that is bigger than what you had in Wyoming.”

“You’re right.” Savvy sighed.

“I know I am. But the question is, are you going to listen to my good advice or are you going to annoy me like normal?”

Pressing her lips together in a hard line, Savvy said, “I’ll try.”

“As Yoda said, there is no try. Do or do not.”

“You’re quoting a Muppet to me?”

Cassia buzzed Savvy’s ear and then said, “He is not a Muppet. He is a Jedi knight who has great wisdom.”

“Remind me to buy a flyswatter on my next day off.”

“You wouldn’t. You need me too much,” she said.

Savvy tried to read, but she couldn’t. All she could think about was Rory. “I don’t remember being this hung up on Gabe.”

“He wasn’t forbidden fruit. Plus, he had always been around. Rory is new.”

“I guess.

Finally, Savvy gave up on the book. Surprisingly, she was able to go to sleep pretty quickly.

Drake and Cat were full of energy as soon as they jumped out of bed the next morning.

“You’re going to have your hands full today.” Cassia laughed.

“What does that mean? What is she going to have a handful of?” Drake asked as he pulled his shirt over his head inside out and backward.

“I don’t know how you managed to do that since I know that Amy wouldn’t have put the shirt in your drawer that way.”

He shrugged his shoulders and asked again what Savvy’s hands would be full of.

“Crazy wolf pups,” Savvy declared, tickling him.

“We’re not crazy.” Drake giggled.

Savvy was surprised to see Hollie and Owen at the dining room table. Normally, everyone ate at the much smaller, cozier, breakfast table in the mornings, but today, breakfast was served in the dining room since there were two extra people.

Rory came in, kissed his mother’s cheek and shook his father’s hand. “You guys are here early.”

“We wanted to take the kids with us for the day,” Hollie said.

Owen said, “We thought that they might like to go with us to Carlsbad Caverns.”

“That sounds like fun,” Cat said, “Can we go, Daddy?”

“Of course,” Rory said.

“Can Savvy come with us?” Drake asked.

Hollie smiled at Savvy and said, “We thought that we would just have a grandparents and grandkids day. That way, we could spoil you more.”

Drake looked at Savvy doubtfully.

“You guys will have loads of fun without me,” she said. “I have some business I have to take care of, anyway.”

“Okay.” Drake sighed.

“You know that the pack gala is in two days, right?” Hollie asked.

Rory groaned and said, “Don’t remind me.”

“It’s not that bad. Sebastian is going,” Owen said. “You really need to as well.”

“Can we go?” Cat asked.

“No, you aren’t quite old enough yet,” Rory said. “You need to stay here with Amy, Rosa, and Colby.”

“Why can’t they go? They’re old enough,” Drake said.

Amy laughed and said, “We’re bear shifters. We go to our clan’s gala.”

“Can we go to that?” Cat asked.

“Afraid not, kiddo,” Rosa said. “You have to be a bear shifter.”

“Rats,” Drake said, crossing his arms and sticking out his bottom lip.

“We’ll have a ton of fun here,” Amy promised.

“Go get your stuff,” Hollie said.

Savvy went upstairs to help the kids grab their stuffies that they took with them everywhere and packed them an extra set of clothes in case they were needed.

“They are ready,” she said, with a smile.

Hollie hugged her impulsively. “You are so great with the kids. It really tells because they love you so much.”

“It’s because they know I love them,” Savvy said. “What’s not to love?”

Cat made a heart with her hands and put it under her chin. She batted her eyelashes and said, “Yeah, what’s not to love.”

Laughing, Hollie, Owen, and the kids left.

Savvy decided to spend the day with Beth and Taryn, so she went upstairs to grab her purse and then said goodbye to everyone. Rory stopped her as she was heading out the door.

“It seems that I have to go to this damned gala. Do you want to go with me to keep me company in my misery?”

“It’s not that bad, is it?” Savvy asked.

“I guess that depends on who you ask.”

Savvy smiled and said, “I would love to go with you.”

“The theme this year is fantasy under the sea if that matters to you.”

“That just means that there will be a lot of light blue and sea green dresses. Neither color is flattering to me, so I’ll pick a different colored dress.”

“Perfect, you rebel you.” He looked at Cassia and said, “Unless you want everyone to know that you’re a witch, you might leave your dragonfly at home.”

“You can talk to said dragonfly, you know,” Cassia said dryly. “I’d rather stay at home with the kids anyway, so there.”

“Did you just stick your tongue out at me?” Rory asked Cassia.

“I did.”

He laughed and said, “You’ve got a lot of sass for such a tiny thing.”

“Thank you.”

Beth and Taryn were ready to head out for the shops when Savvy and Cassia arrived.

“I’m glad you called when you did. We were about to leave earlier,” Beth said. “I’m not a super huge fan of shopping.”

“Especially when you’re super huge,” Taryn said.

The four of them had a great time shopping. Savvy found something for her at the first shop they came to. It was a dark burnt orange off-the-shoulder dress that accented her figure perfectly. She found some shoes that matched.

“That was the easy part,” Beth said. “I have to find something that doesn’t make me look like Shamu the Whale.”

“You’re pregnant. Pregnant is beautiful,” Savvy said.

“I look like I’m carrying a water buffalo,” Beth said. “Taryn, are you sure that I’m not having twins?”

“Nope. There’s just one baby boy in there,” she said.

“You really need to come with us,” Savvy said. “You would have a lot of fun.”

“Nope. I’m going over to Micah’s house. Michelle and Ronnie, who take care of his house, but are really family, are going to watch their kids and Zac’s and Olivia’s kids. I’m going to hang out with them.”

“I wish I could get out of going,” Beth said. “Now that Conner’s home, he’s picked up pack duties, since he’s the alpha’s brother. We are expected to attend. I just hope that everyone will understand if I get tired and want to leave early.”

“I’m sure they will,” Savvy said. “If they don’t and give you an attitude, just tell me. I’ll give them all a nasty case of large pimples on their ass so that it splats every time they sit down to poop.”

Taryn giggled. “That would be funny.”

Beth laughed and shook her head. “Sometimes I seriously worry about you.”

“I know,” Savvy said. “I worry about me, too.”

“Maybe we should just go over to hang with Ronnie and Michelle. Running around, screaming, and having a good time sounds like more fun. I’ve never enjoyed social events. I didn’t even go to our senior prom.”

“I remember. We went to the movies instead. The theater was showing retro horror movies. I think we watched the original Poltergeist and The Exorcist, ” Savvy said.

“Now, that sounds like a fun night out,” Taryn said. “Cassia, are you going to the gala?”

“No. I’m going to stay home with Drake and Cat. Rory said that people might figure out that Savvy is a witch if I’m hanging out there.”

“Plus, someone might try to either swat you or help you outside,” Beth said.

After a couple more shops, Beth found a dark green dress that she liked. “It’s a shame to spend this much on a dress I’ll wear once.”

“You might get pregnant ten or twelve more times. I wouldn’t get rid of it,” Savvy teased.

A couple nights later, Rory knocked on her suite door. She had just finished putting in a pair of diamond stud earrings.

“Wow,” Rory said. “You look incredibly beautiful. He leaned over and whispered in her ear, “Are you sure you want to leave the house?”

She giggled and said, “Your mother will kill you if you don’t.”

He offered her his arm, which she took. Amy waited at the bottom of the stairs with her phone out, taking pictures.

“You two look absolutely gorgeous together,” she gushed. Rosa and Colby agreed.

Drake and Cat smiled. “They’re going to let us watch movies until we fall asleep,” Cat said.

“We get to eat lots of popcorn and drink root beer,” Drake added.

“Don’t make yourselves sick,” Savvy said. “I don’t want to hear any moaning from you two tomorrow about belly aches.”

“Rosa always knows when enough is enough,” Cat said solemnly.

Laughing, Rory and Savvy left.

She was astounded at the incredibly decorated ceremonial hall. It really did look like an enchantment under the sea. Dinner was delicious, although not as good as Rosa’s cooking.

The best part was the dancing afterward. Rory was easily the sexiest man there. He took Savvy’s breath away dressed in his tuxedo, which did nothing to hide his thick arms and massive chest.

She loved dancing with him, and feeling her body pressed against his made images of their lovemaking flash into her mind.

“You have so many identities,” she said.

“Oh, yeah?” he asked.

“Fancy lawyer by day. Big, bad, biker dude at night and on weekends. And then there is this Fred Astaire persona that comes out, looking smoking hot in a tuxedo and dancing, light on his feet.”

“Smoking hot, huh?” he said.

“You would pick up on that.”

Savvy was surprised when it was time to leave. She was even more surprised that Beth had managed to stay for the entire night and had enjoyed herself.

As they drove home, he asked, “Did you have a good time tonight?”

“Yes. Everyone in the pack is so incredibly nice. And, I loved meeting Jade’s mate, Marvin. I’ve never met a dragon shifter before. He is a very nice man.”

She wanted to add that no one treated her like she was just the nanny, but she didn’t. Savvy was trying to remind herself that this wasn’t a date, they weren’t a couple, and he had asked her because he simply needed someone to go with him.

The house was quiet when they got home. She was surprised that he held her hand when they walked up the stairs and even more surprised when he led her into his bedroom.

Their clothes melted off, and they fell into the bed in a tangle of arms and legs. His mouth devoured hers, and the flames licked every cell in her body. She was hot, wet, and ready for him when he pressed his large apple head against her womanhood. He entered her with one motion, burying himself deep inside of her.

Savvy’s heart beat a million miles an hour, and she tried to catch her breath as this incredibly hot man moved above her. Their bodies pressed together as he pistoned in and out of her.

“Oh, my lord, yes,” she cried out, her fingers kneading his back muscles.

She lifted her hips to meet his as he drove hard and fast inside of her.

“Rory. Oh, Rory,” she moaned as she felt the fires explode.

“That’s right, Baby. Cum on me.”

Her silken walls pulsated, massaging his thick shaft. He moaned and his cock throbbed inside of her.

Rory collapsed next to her and pulled her close to him. He held her for several minutes. Savvy loved being close to him and his arms around her were like heaven.

Reluctantly, she went back to her suite, wishing more than anything that she could spend the night cuddled next to him.
