19. Truth
CHAPTER 19
TRUTH
MILES
I see it sink in and Delilah’s eyes flash with something. Some different emotions I can’t decipher.
“He had the tickets, and I didn’t know how to tell him I didn’t want to go without making a big deal of it. I hoped the seats would be in the nosebleed section and you’d never see me there.”
“Brynn saw you, too.”
Her face falls, and Delilah closes her eyes.
“I know. It didn’t feel like a date and any chance of it being one crashed down around me. Colton is smart. He knew and just dropped me off and I don’t think I’ll ever see him again.”
“Good.”
“Good? What are we going to do from here?”
Delilah wrinkles her nose adorably and I take a deep breath before taking her face in my hands.
“This.”
The kiss is explosive, and she wraps her arms around my waist to pull me closer.
Is this still wrong?
Yes, for all the same reasons. I just can’t help myself.
I tilt my head and deepen the kiss, feeling her fighting for dominance as our tongues meet. It’s such a turn on and the kiss seems to last forever before I pull away to catch my breath.
“You’re incredible.”
Our eyes lock as Delilah breathes in and out, her eyes wild with passion.
I kiss her again and this time we stumble to my room, all thoughts of stopping fleeing from my mind. There weren’t many to begin with. I close the door behind us, locking it just in case.
We strip our clothes off hurriedly, tossing them to the floor in our haste to touch again. When our mouths meet and I feel her body heat against my chest, I reach down to grip her ass tightly.
Memories of the last time we were here play through my mind and I hope it doesn’t end like that again. I want this too badly.
I moan when Delilah pulls away, sitting on the bed as she stares at me. Taking me in her hand, she strokes gently, and my body responds with all the blood-flow going to my cock.
“Nobody else has touched this?”
I shiver at the breathy tone in her voice and nod.
“Nobody, Delilah. I haven’t wanted anyone else since I saw you.”
Her mouth wraps around me, and I groan at the feeling of the wet heat. She knows what to do, moving up and down slowly with her mouth tight on me for a while before stroking me with her tongue.
“Fuck.”
I slide a hand into her hair, tightening my hold around her curls as she moves again, faster this time. Guiding her slightly, I pull with her movements and feel the pressure building. There’s nothing more I want than to feel her swallowing me, but I focus and look down at her.
“I’m so close, Delilah. Where do you want me?”
She moves harder, taking me into the back of her throat as I hold on to her hair for dear life. I can’t help rocking with her, matching her rhythm before I cry out her name in my release.
Delilah drinks me in before pulling away, slumping back to the mattress. I watch her, taking in her pebbled nipples as my mouth waters. She’s unique from the others I’ve slept with, but being an athlete often just draws in a certain woman. That’s so far past me and I move beside her on the bed, pulling her leg with me before stroking between her thighs.
She whimpers and I lean over to kiss her, not caring she just had her mouth on me. Delilah kisses me back and I increase the speed of my fingers, feeling her arousal. My mouth moves to her jaw, then her neck as she rocks into me.
She comes when I suck her nipple into my mouth, trying to quiet her cries. I bite down, loving how she writhes under me, out of control.
I clean her up with my mouth before crawling between her legs and taking her with one hard thrust.
This feels like heaven to me, and I move with her body in perfect sync. We just know each other’s bodies and I rock with her until she comes again, following a second later.
“So, we’re on again?”
She’s out of breath as she looks at me, settled beside her on the bed.
“Yes. I think I’d still like to keep it between us for now. I’m not ashamed of you but there-“
“There’s Lola to think about. I get it. Not to mention my brother.”
“No more dates?”
“No. It wasn’t really one to begin with.”
She stays in my bed for a few hours, sleeping beside me. I wake up alone and know Delilah has gone back to her room as we agreed to do for the time being. It’s lonely and I wonder if there will ever come a time when she can freely stay here with me. I know my daughter wouldn’t hate it, but if it ends, it will devastate all three of us.
I have practice the following day before we travel again and leave the girls in the kitchen, eating breakfast. I kiss Lola goodbye and share a smile with Delilah that lets her know I’d love to do the same to her.
I traveled away from Lola when she was with her mom, and it was always my daughter I missed the most. Now, it will be Lola and Delilah and I will board the plane later that afternoon, feeling something new inside.
We’ll be gone for five days, and I realize it feels like forever. Taking my seat, I look around and wonder how the guys with families do this. Andrew is sending a text with a grin, and I remember being single like him.
“You good?”
He glances at me, searching my face.
“Fine. Tired, I guess. I love the sport and would never change what I do, but travel is hard sometimes.”
I shrug and our captain smiles at me in the seat across from us.
“It’s never easy, but something we all signed up for and our women support us. They’re magical, taking care of the kids, our homes, and lives; I make sure Kaitlyn knows I appreciate her.”
Gabe shakes his head as Andrew rolls his eyes.
“Not for me. I enjoy keeping it simple.”
“Until you meet the one.”
I look at Gabe as he meets Andrew’s doubtful gaze and wonder if I’ve met the one. Could Delilah be it for me?
We arrive in Boston and settle into our hotel rooms to rest up for practice and breakfast the next day. I make the usual call to Lola and text Delilah while Andrew sleeps in the bed next to mine, finding out how hot it is to talk dirty to her. She’s surprising when she lets her guard down, and Delilah is as suggestive as I am in her messages.
I end the night with a cold shower to jerk off from the way she made me feel. I’ll need to have phone sex with her next, because that voice does things to me.
We all practice the next morning, followed by a team breakfast. Everyone feels great about the upcoming game, and it makes me smile to know Delilah and Lola will watch back home. My mom cooks dinner a lot and has everyone over, though I’m not sure what’s happening tonight. Delilah doesn’t always want all the people around.
It’s sweet how much she thinks about Lola and what’s best for her. My daughter loves my family, but it’s always more low key at home and I can appreciate Delilah’s sentiments. I know she cooks and makes it a fun night for Lola in her own way.
We take to the ice, knowing we have a tough night in front of us. This team is one of the best in the league and, on top of that, Andrew has some kind of rivalry with one of the other players. It’s probably over a local woman or something.
Their fans are screaming for them, and I look around, appreciating all fans. I always see some of our jerseys out there and it makes me smile knowing we have fans everywhere, some that travel for us.
We skate and practice taking shots at the goal as the energy builds. Gabe gives everyone positive encouragement as he makes his rounds to us, and we bump fists as he grins at me.
I’m first out and win the face-off, passing the puck to Andrew before he takes off down the ice. It’s game on and I follow, ready to do whatever I can to make this a lead. The other team challenges us, and it’s up and down the ice until they score.
I sigh and remind myself we have plenty of time to make this benefit us as I share a disappointed glance with Andrew. We gather at the bench to see what the plan is, and I take a break to rest my legs and drink some water. I’ll be playing a lot tonight, so I’ll take what I can get.
We ended up winning by one goal at a score of 4-3 and everyone’s feeling the adrenaline.
“Dinner to celebrate!” Gabe calls out in the dressing room, and everyone cheers. I was looking forward to my FaceTime chat with the girls, but I think I can do both.
We shower and change, and I make the FaceTime call just inside the building, planning to get a ride when I’m done. I tell Delilah I’ll call her later and head to the private room where I meet the team, still flying from the win.
Dinner is great, but there’s always people who find out where we go through the locals, and we meet with some fans as we leave to go back to the hotel. One woman is familiar, and I remember we hooked up a few times here in town a few years ago.
“Hey, stranger. Great win out there.” Stephanie grins and reaches out to hug me, and I know she wants more.
I back away as I thank her, making Stephanie frown. Andrew shoots me a confused look. I’m almost always up for that, or at least I was in the past. It’s slowed down since I became a father, but I didn’t necessarily stop hooking up.
“Did you go off and get yourself into a relationship or something?”
Stephanie plays it off, but I can see the disappointment in her eyes.
“Nah. Nothing like that. I’m just tired from the game.”
“Want to grab a drink, then?”
“We don’t have crazy, early practice. Let’s do it.”
Andrew looks at me with a smile and I remember he has a thing with one of Stephanie’s friends, who I see standing behind her.
Damn it. How do I handle this?
“My back is hurting a bit. I think I pulled it out there, so I am going to take a hot shower and rest. Go.”
I encourage Andrew because if he goes, I can have the room to myself. He’s also looking pretty happy at the idea, but Stephanie looks angry.
“Okay. Lead the way, ladies.”
She stares at me as Andrew joins the group, finally following them as I get a ride back to the hotel from my phone.
I have plans and it feels like I can’t get there fast enough.
