Chapter 11

ALEX

My eyes blinked open the next morning, and Daniel’s face greeted me.

Eyes closed, mouth parted softly, hair a mess, and yet, he couldn’t have looked more sexy if he tried.

A soft vulnerability emanated from him, wrapping itself around me and making me want to protect him from what I had no clue.

Given the fact that he was taller than me and more muscular than me, he could probably take care of himself.

Didn’t stop me from wanting to protect him.

Him asleep next to me, or me sleeping next to him. Only I wasn’t sleeping. I rolled onto my back and stared up at the ceiling. Either way, waking up with him lying next to me, sound asleep—for the second time in a month—was strange. So fucking strange.

Granted, the only other man who ever slept next to me was Kelly. And even that had been strange the first few times after we started fucking. Maybe it was because sleeping was more intimate than fucking someone.

I still can’t believe we ended up screwing last night. It was not why I came over here. Well, it was, but it’s not why I told myself I came over here. But I knew the moment I laid eyes on him that I wouldn’t leave until we were both satisfied.

Coming over here? Big mistake. Fucking huge ass ginormous mistake. We worked together. We needed to remain professional. And last night was far from that. My head got stuck in the memories of how good the sex had been the last time, and I screwed up.

Again.

And what was that shit about Daddio and pretty boy?

Hot as fuck. Check.

But it couldn’t happen again. Ever. I needed to just roll myself out of this fucking bed, find my damn clothes, go back to my place, and shower away the scent of him so maybe…

Who the fuck was I kidding? A shower wasn’t going to cleanse me of him and the shit that he’d done to me and the shit I’d done to him. I had to figure out a way to separate the two because clearly, not walking that path was not going to happen.

What were the chances of me getting drafted to the team that the hookup I had a month or so ago was also on?

Nil. They had to be close to zero. Yet here I was, forced to look at him when I’ve been unable to forget him. Now I faced a constant distraction. How could I be expected to do my job when the guy I like to bend over for was the agent assigned to my team?

Conflict of interest much?

The man dug up our intel. He designed our missions. Working with him would be impossible.

“Penny for your thoughts.”

“Just a penny, Daddio?” I flirted, even though I just told myself this couldn’t happen.

“You’re right, pretty boy,” he said with a smirk.

The bed shifted as he rolled onto my chest, then slid down my body, disappearing under the blankets. Cool air ghosted over my chest, but I barely noticed since Daniel’s mouth closed over my morning wood.

Threading my fingers through his bed head, I knotted them in the gorgeous mess, forcing his head to tilt back. I thrust upwards. My tip rubbed against the rough roof of his mouth.

“Cup me with your tongue and suck,” I ordered.

He mumbled around my dick. I thought what he said was ‘So bossy,’ but I couldn’t be sure.

“Tap my thigh,” I growled at him.

He grinned as much as someone could grin with a dick stuffed in their face. I fucked his face until my balls tingled and tears ran down his cheeks, and drool dripped from his chin.

“Fucking gorgeous with a dick in your mouth.”

He whined, humping the bed in time with my thrusts.

“Daddio, you take my cock beautifully, but you’re acting like a greedy fuck boy.”

His head shook no, then nodded yes, making me chuckle. My thumb danced across the hollows of his cheeks. I loved how responsive he was, how greedy he got when it came to sex. Either giving or receiving, it didn’t matter to the man.

“Fuck!” I growled through gritted teeth when his finger started toying with my sore hole. He backed away. I gave a quick yank on the hair I still held in my hand. “Don’t you dare stop.”

He glanced at the nightstand. I followed his gaze, grabbed the lube, and handed it to him. My hand slackening, I lost my grip on his hair. My hand fell to the bed. He opened me up, still sucking my cock deep and hard, his tongue cupping the bottom of my shaft.

Daniel did that thing where his tongue cupped the bottom of my shaft, while he sucked me as if he was trying to get my brains to come out my slit, all while his fingers played in my hole, as if he were the world’s greatest pianist. I loved it.

Hell, I loved everything about him. The way he drew me in, made me lose my mind in the rhythm between his mouth and his tongue and his lips and his fingers until all I wanted to do was come.

“You’re fucking killing me.”

He shook his head, the head of my dick scraping gently across his back teeth, sending shivers through my body.

The shivers grew and grew, snowballing until I lost my breath, my vision, and everything but the feel of him between my legs disappeared.

Until lightning struck, or that’s what it felt like.

My body arched, stiffening, my head thrown back, my mouth wide open, a scream locked inside my throat as come shot from my dick into his waiting mouth.

He moaned deep and low, almost a continuous hum.

I fell back to the bed, my body no longer stiff as if all my bones had melted, and I was just a pile of flesh and muscle. Cool air danced over my dick when it fell from his mouth, the sensation a mix of pleasure and pain.

Between gasps, he said, “I’m pretty sure I died.”

Laughter huffed in a little snuffle of sound. “I’ve never talked to a dead man before. I thought it would be…”

“Be…what?”

“Different.”

A scowl that I was sure he thought looked threatening darkened his face. “Are you saying I’m not a great conversationalist?“

The small huff turned to a full-blown laughing fit. “If the shoe fits, Daddio,” I said through tears, my belly clenching with hilarity.

His mouth dropped open, but twin alarms sounded from the other room.

His head twisted on my thigh, looking over his shoulder at the door as my own gaze did the same.

I had a good idea what it was, but having never received that sort of call before, I wasn’t positive until Daniel sighed deeply and shoved to his feet.

He walked from the room, naked, that glorious ass of his on full display, teasing me with every step.

I sighed, rolled out of bed, and followed after him.

“We have an hour to get the base.”

“Are we being deployed or…“

“Not sure. I’ll call in while you grab a shower. Unless you need to go back to your place? “

I smirked, “Yeah, but it won’t take me long.”

“What do you mean?”

“We’re neighbors.”

“Wait, did you get lost like you were sitting outside my door…”

“No, dumbass.” I chuckled at the dumbfounded look on his face. “I did not get lost. My apartment is another two floors up.”

“Hmm.”

“What’re you hmming about?” I asked.

“Only that having a hot guy living in the building, who I know is gay and fucks like a champ, could come in handy is all I’m thinking.”

He had a point. Not that I was gonna tell him that. Before I could come up with a witty response, my phone rang with a number I didn’t recognize. Daniel peered at the screen.

“You should get that. It’s Parker.”

“Madison,” I said, putting it to my ear as I searched for my clothes.

“It’s Parker Holt. Did you get paged?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Good. I’ll see you on base. Be sure to call in. Otherwise, they’ll keep paging you. And don’t forget you have an hour.”

“Yes, sir,” I responded, then asked, “Are we deploying?”

“Maybe. Maybe not. I dunno any more than you. I just wanted to make sure you got called, too. Sometimes new guys get left off the list. Will you make the deadline?”

“Thanks for checking in. And yeah, I live at the Horizons on West Harbor.”

“Cool. Daniel lives there too.”

My eyes locked on Daniel’s face as I listened to the ticking of a turn signal through the phone that sounded more dramatic than it was. Like a ticking bomb waiting to go off. Were they…

“Madison? You still there?”

I ignored his question. “Daniel…” I asked in return, trailing off.

Daniel’s eyes locked on mine, and just like that, he dropped the act—naked in his living room, he’d been listening to me all along.

“The spook. He was making coffee…”

“Right. I remember now.”

Daniel’s face darkened, and he spun, walking out of the room. I rolled my eyes. It’s not like I could say, ‘You mean the guy I fucked last night, and this morning. That Daniel?’

“Okay, I’m booking it down the coast. I’ll be there shortly. See you on base.”

Parker hung up before I could say anything else. Checking the time on the alert I received. I called the number in the alert.

The operator answered, “Hello, Petty Officer Madison. I have you checked in.”

“Thank you. Is there…”

“No. You are good.”

“Okay. Thank you.”

The operator hung up. I laid the phone down and set a timer on my dive watch. Gathering my clothes from around the room, I pulled on my underwear and pants while deciding if I should confront him or not. He walked into the room as I tugged my shirt over my head.

He paused, huffed a sigh, before saying, “You don’t have to…”

“Are the two of you together?” I asked, interrupting him.

Daniel shook his head, his lips pressing together to turn down, but then said, “What do you mean?”

“I may be younger than you by several years, but I’m not a kid and I’m not fucking stupid.”

“No one said you were.”

“If you’re not together…”

“I’m not dating anyone. I’m single.”

Was that a deflection? I’d been in this apartment twice. There were no indications he had a boyfriend. None.

Other than my team leader knowing where he lives and Daniel knowing Parker’s number by heart.

Not sure how to respond, I pivoted. “I’m going to head upstairs. I need a shower.”

He pointed behind him. “There’s one a few steps away. You might remember fucking me in it last night.”

Ignoring him, I finished dressing, tucking in my shirt, doing up my pants, then sat down and pulled on my boots. When I stood, Daniel leaned on the edge of the dining table, legs crossed at the ankles, arms folded over his chest.

“I’ll see you on base,” I said before walking out.
