Chapter 10
Flyingwith Elodie was different than flying on my own.
I loved flying.
But flying with her…
It was better.
Happier, too.
Her body was warm against my scales, the gentle weight of her somehow steadying me.
She belonged there with me.
In the sky.
On my back.
With me.
I barely knew her, but I’d already started to realize that it was going to hurt like hell to walk away from her.
If I could walk away from her at all.
I’d met my mate…
And she was mine.
End of the discussion.
I’d started to see why mated dragons didn’t fly without their females, too.
Because what was the point?
Why take to the sky alone when you could enjoy it so much more with your companion?
My thoughts continued to move as we glided over the mountains. Though I was headed toward Mate Mountain, I wouldn’t take her there.
Not when the bastards in the thunder would only try to turn her against me.
Or when they might look at her, speak with her, smell her…
No.
She was mine.
And I was going to hold her tightly, for as long as I could.
