6. Lucy #3
“How did you know?” he asked, still keeping his distance and, more importantly, his hands to himself. I chewed on my bottom lip.
“Your voice sounded familiar when we first spoke down by the mailboxes, but in the costume shop, when you growled in my ear…” My voice was remarkably steady as I squirmed, kneeling on the mattress. “I knew.”
“And you still hung out with me? Still let me walk you home with your groceries? Work out with you?” The longer strands of his hair flopped forward, casting his features with deep darker shadows.
I shrugged, trying to act like I my body didn’t feel like it was suddenly on pins and needles and about to implode as I waited to see what he’d do. What we’d do the moment we were within one another’s reach.
“Twisted? I know,” I joked half-heartedly. Excitement overloaded my senses as wet warmth pooled between my legs.
“You’re not twisted.” His growly words made me giggle.
“If I were right in the head, Victor, there is no way I would be as happy and as wet as I am right now, waiting for you to come closer so I can finally kiss Daddy,” I admitted completely honestly.
“Lucy.” The warning in his voice was crystal clear.
“I’m serious.”
“I know you are, Sunshine.” His hands at his sides fisted tightly.
“If I get close to you, if I touch you again, even if it’s something as innocent as holding your hand, that’s it for us, baby.
There won’t be any going back. No returns or refunds or fucking exchanges.
You’re it for me, and I’m it for you.” Geez, why did I love everything he was saying?
Saliva pooled in my mouth to taste him. To kiss him. “Do you understand what I’m saying?”
“You barely know me,” I whispered in a weak argument. Even in the darkness I could see the look in his eyes. The one that shouted really? Because we both knew he definitely knew me.
We had been getting to know one another these last two months. I think it was why meeting him had felt like two pieces of a puzzle coming together and I’d felt so at home with him, so right.
“Tell me to stay away,” he pleaded roughly.
“I can’t.”
“I’m not a good man, Lucy Rae. I’m fucked up. I have no sense of boundaries on a regular day with what I do for work, but much, much less when it comes to you,” he warned.
The truth in his words should have turned my blood ice cold but instead made me hotter.
Needier.
Hornier.
It could have been easy to try what most of society would have deemed the right thing to do. To push him away. To tell him to leave. I knew deep down in my bones if I said something as easy as no or leave, he would do just that, and I wouldn’t see him again.
A sane person, a normal person, would have done that.
Would have wanted to be left alone, not deal with whatever possessive and overly obsessive thing lived inside Victor to drive him to not only subscribe and pay for my time to talk one-on-one but to figure out where I lived and move in next door.
That’s when it hit me.
He’d done that. That hadn’t just been a coincidence. It couldn’t be. Slowly, my head turned, looking at my office through new eyes. Maybe even my entire apartment. Did he have other ways of knowing what I was up to? Cameras in my place?
“I see my sunshine’s getting it now.”
“Victor—“
“You call me daddy when we’re about to play,” he interrupted, the tone in his voice not leaving any room for argument.
I swallowed hard, trying to keep my breathing at a steady pace, but I knew he could see the pulse point at my neck thump, thump, thump way too hard and quick for it to be calm.
“Is that what’s going to happen? We’re going to play, Daddy?” I asked, pulling my head up higher, my chin proud and almost defiant. Slightly bratty.
“Oh, pretty girl.” His beautiful lips quirked up into a breathtaking, panty-melting smile full of promise. “We most definitely are.” He took a seat on my desk chair. My brows bunched and lips parted.
“Why are you so far away?” I asked, licking my red-painted lips.
“Baby girl, I warned you. I told you what would happen if I so much as hold your hand. Weren’t you paying attention, Lucy?”
“I was but—“ I started to say, but a brow rose on his face, and my voice softened. “There’s no way you can know that.” I had no idea why I was pressing the issue.
I had fallen in love with the man before I’d known what he looked like.
Before I knew how madly obsessed he was with me.
And finding out the lengths, or some of them, that he’d gone to? Moving in next door? Meeting me? It only made me fall harder and crave everything he was offering.
“I touch you, that’s it.”
“Maybe—“
“Maybe it’s time for you to get nice and comfortable in bed before I say fuck it and pull you over my knee and punish you for talking back,” he growled, pointing to the bed. I shuddered.
“You’re really not going to touch me?”
“Not until you tell me you’re mine.” My shoulders dropped in disappointment. I squirmed, pressing my legs together to find some kind of relief.
“But, Daddy—“ I started to whine, but he shook his head.
“Get comfortable, Sunshine, and show daddy how much you’ve been thinking about him today,” he ordered.
And like a good girl, I did as I was told.
