Chapter 16 #3

He pushes into me slowly, deliberately, like he wants me to feel every inch of him claiming me, filling me.

For a breath, neither of us moves. The stretch of him, the weight, the heat of his chest against mine as my body adjusts around him.

And as his weight settles over me and he starts to move in a slow and wondrous rhythm, I forget the ordinary college girl I’m supposed to be.

I forget the man I love in the Real, who almost died and whose blood his brother shares.

I forget all of it. There is only this. There is only him, filling me with deep, devastating thrusts, every stroke deliberate, like he intends to feel all of it, like he has nowhere else in any realm he would rather be.

But when I wrap my legs around him and lift to meet him, his control frays, and there is nothing patient left in him at all.

He braces a hand in the sand beside my head and drives into me, and I take all of him, greedy and shameless, my nails dragging down the muscle of his back, the warm sand shifting beneath us with every thrust.

His mouth finds my throat, my jaw, my mouth—open and hungry and barely catching breath between kisses. I’m full of him and surrounded by him, and right then, I belong to him. Utterly. Completely.

Then he says, “Cora,” in a voice so wrecked and reverent against my skin that I shatter a second time and feel him follow me over, his whole body going taut, his breath ragged in my ear, his hand fisting in the sand beside my head as if he needs something to hold on to that isn’t me.

I’m breathing hard as I slowly come back to myself, his weight on me, his eyes locked on mine as we hold each other on the sand.

Finally, he tilts his head, then breaks the silence. “Will you tell him?”

I want to smack him—way to screw up a truly exceptional fuck—but I don’t call him out.

Instead, I simply shrug as I try to hold on to that glorious post-sex buzz while the question preys on me.

The truth is, I don’t have to say anything.

I already told Chase I wouldn’t give Adric up.

And I told Adric the same thing about Chase. I never said I would tell when and if.

Except…

I sigh, because of course I have to tell. If for no other reason than that I owe both these men honesty.

What I don’t know is if honesty will be the thing that costs me Chase. And that’s really not a price I want to pay.

I’ll tell him,” I say. Ignoring Adric’s frown. “And I’ll tell you when I sleep with him, too.”

“Hmm,” he says, with a frustrating note of humor edging his voice. “Am I the goose or the gander?”

“I have no idea what that means,” I say, then tilt my head as I study his face. “You really don’t mind him knowing?”

“I do not,” he says, taking a strand of my hair and running it through his fingers. “Think of me while he’s inside you. Remember that you are mine, too.”

I swallow, the words turning me on even though I know they shouldn’t. “I will,” I whisper.

“I’m very glad to hear that. Because I wanted to ask something of you.”

“Oh?” I shift and prop myself up on an elbow to see him better. “What?”

“Again?” he asks, then captures me in a kiss when I nod and laugh as he eases me back, his cock hard against my thigh.

After, I curl up against him on a blanket he’d conjured at some point I don’t even recall.

I snuggle closer, sated and content. And, yes, a little guilty.

Not enough to move, though. Not enough to say anything.

Just enough that when Chase’s face surfaces in my mind, I let it stay there for a second instead of pushing it down. He’s probably off killing something, not thinking of me at all. Just about the hunt.

And if he is thinking of me, he’s probably picturing me hanging out with Tia and Riley. He told me to have a good time, after all, and he meant it.

So no need for guilt, right? Because I’m definitely having a good time here in my closet in the arms of a king who is not my boyfriend.

That’s probably not what Chase meant, though…

Adric shifts behind me, just a fraction, and I wonder if he heard the thought.

“Beloved.”

I melt a bit from the way he says it. Three syllables with that sexy depth, and I can’t help but sigh. Then his thumb finds the place at the underside of my nipple that makes my breath catch, and he stays there, teasing me with small, slow circles.

“You’re insatiable.”

“One of my finer qualities.”

I force myself not to laugh. “Yeah, but you don’t need to sleep. I do.” All true, but I’m having a hard enough time convincing myself, much less him. “Plus, I have a chemistry quiz tomorrow.”

“Mm.”

“At nine.”

“Are we not studying chemistry very, very diligently?” he asks with his lips kissing my throat before moving lower, and then lower still to draw in my sensitive nipple as I moan and feel the languorous, sex-drunk parts of my body perk up yet again.

“One more,” he says. “Then I go.”

He hooks a finger under my chin and tilts my face up to his, mischief and passion dancing in those eyes.

“You talked me into it,” I say, sliding my arms around him and tilting my head back for a kiss. “One more time. Tonight, anyway. But I was thinking…”

He quirks a single brow, a look that is maddeningly sexy. “Yes?”

“Maybe you could come here tomorrow night, too. I mean, so long as you’re not breaking any rules, we might as well keep each other company while Chase is out of town.”

“My love,” he says, “I can think of no better way to pass the time.”

This time, it’s slow and gentle, and when the last remnants of yet another very lovely orgasm fade, he blows me a kiss, the beach disappears, and I’m alone in my closet, the denim of my hanging jeans brushing my shoulder in a way that makes me think of Chase’s soft kisses.

I stay for a moment, waiting for guilt. But it doesn’t come.

Somehow, without conscious thought, I’ve made my decision.

I want them both.

Now I just have to figure out a way to make that work without the two men I love killing each other.

But that’s a question for later. Now, I simply slip out of the closet and into my bed as I let myself drift into sleep with the memory of Adric’s sensual touches drawing me under.
